Do and Don't: Senshi Fuku

Sailor Moon - Do
Sailor Moon's fuku is a classic. Red, blue, and white this uniform screams style. The go-go boots with the moon emblem are a must have and the earrings are tres chic. As the show progresses her fuku gets more and more elaborate, as we all know, and this is also a plus. Like Madonna, our leader trnasforms herself once a year to fit the upcoming style. The only downside to her ensemble is the varying aray of magic sticks, which we can all say bear a strong resemblance to a phallus. The colors of these sticks don't psrticularly match her outfit as a whole, but I think we can let it slide just this once. All in all, a great Sailor Fuku.

Sailor Mercury - Do
What can I say? This lovely fuku starts with a dark blue skirt and sailor flap, knee-high boots, and a matching tiara jewel. The bows are a light blue which match perfectly with the darker shade. The only thing that I can find wrong with this senshi uniform is the VR visor, which bears a strong resemblance to Mamoru's ugly sunglasses. Luckily, they are tinted blue. This fuku is a perfect example of understated elegance. A definate winner.

Sailor Mars - Do
This was a tough one for me to decide. The colors go well together, and purple and red are both very stylish. On the other hand, the earrings look like dime store clearance rack buys and, girl I mean this in the nicest way possible, those two-inch heels are so last year. Turn on E! and you'll see that the new to-die-for pump is a five-inch spike heel. Luckily, Mars redeems herself with that lucious black hair and purple highlights which just happen to match her fuku's bow. This is a nice, but workable fuku.

Sailor Jupiter - Push
This out fit could go either way, that's why it's a push - a no win for either side. I adore Jupiter's high ponytail, but we all know the major downfal to her fuku. Although the pink and green color scheme is not the best, I am referring to her ankle-boots, which appear to be trailer trash - circa 1991. Girl, I advise nice knee- or thigh-high boots, not those ugly things you gravitate towards. Aside from that I see nothing wrong with Jupiter's pink and green fuku. It's not as bad as some can get, as you'll see in our next example.

Sailor Venus - DON'T
Girl, who dressed you?!? I say that this fuku is a definite no-no. Venus looks like a blind invalid dressed her in a dark closet at midnight. Her uniform is orange, a good start, but it goes downhill from there. A red hair bow, blue front bow, and a bright yellow "ass bow" complete a horrible outfit. Her only redeeming quality is her heels, which are cute and strappy, perfect for the summer heat. In whole, this fuku gets a capital DON'T from this senshi. All I can say is that Venus needs a personal stylist and fast!

Sailor Chibi Moon - Push
This was another tough choice on my part. Chibi Moon, altough annoying and repugnant, should not be graded on her personality flaws. Her fuku is monochromatic, which is a plus, and she follows a style which is very similar to our leader, Sailor Moon. The only problem is the color scheme. Her uniform is cotton candy pink. As we all know, pastels were the thing last year, but that was then. What can she do to pull herself from the castaway pile? I recommend a darker, more mature pink which would offset those gorgeous red eyes. But, until then, Chibi manages to get a push grade on her fuku.

The Outer Senshi - Do
I decided to grade the Outer Senshi as a whole. These senshi have an innate sense of what is in vogue and manage to bring that across in their fuku. Sailor Uranus has a lovely blue and golden yellow number which matches her Space Sword quite well. The only downside to her ensemble is her slouch boots. Sailor Neptune is a vision in dark greens and wrist high gloves. Her dainty choker with green jewel is also a stunning topper to her uniform. Sailor Saturn is wonderful in purple and dark reds and her Silence Glaive is a fantastic accouterment, as well as a destructive weapon. Finally, Sailor Pluto is the personification of grace in a black and red fuku, with Time Staff to match. The only thing I can find wrong with her outfit is the atrocious red earrings. Does she shop at the same place as Mars? Aside from that, these fuku are an A+.

Sailor Star Lights - Don't
This was tough. I personally like their look. The Lights wear a black bra top with sailor flap affixed and tiny black shorts, gloves, and thigh-high boots. On the other hand, they have the appearance of cheap pleather and have been dubbed the Sailor Gutter Sluts, a name which may seem mean, but which is, in all actuality, a perfect fit. Due to this, and the sheer impossibility of being able to perform any useful acts while dressed as such, I had to give them a flunking grade. We can only hope that they will take this to heart.
