Benisato
Benisato's ability is to take control of snakes, that actually come from her body in many shapes and forms. She also has the ability to shed her skin like one. We first see her in action when Jubei is trying to recover from his battle with Tessai.

Chamberlain
Chamberlain is the supreme lord of the Koga Ninjas and is responsible for giving Hanza orders. He sees the ninjas as totally useless. Once he is told of what happened to them in the woods against Tessai. He sends Kagero out again to follow up on the story, but never shows any real interest of helping her.

Dakuwan
Dakuwan is a spy for the Tokugawa clan who is against the Shogun of the dark's Toyatome clan. He is a underhanded sometimes-wicked little man. Don't take him lightly because of his size and age would be the worst mistake you could make. He is very clever, and is a little sadistic and more willing to watch people die or suffer to achieve his own personal goals.

Hanza
Hanza is the leader of the Koga Ninja Team which is sent out to search the strange news that men were seen riding through the Shimota village area just before the plague hit. Hanza appears to be the only friend of Kagero. Hanza is brutally murdered by Tessai while Kagero watches.

Jubei
Jubei is the hero of Ninja Scroll. He is a powerful Warrior, known as a Ronin which is a masterless samurai/ ninja. He makes a living doing odd jobs while traveling. As Ninja Scroll starts he is to retreive a sword that is worth 300 gold pieces for a poor village for only price 20 gold pieces. Jubei is a very intelligent and is a courageous person. He has razor sharp wit and is a master of the sword. He's a well rounded warrior. No matter what the odds are, Jubei will always fight with all of his heart if it's something he believes in or is worth fighting to the very end.

Kagero
Kagero is the one and only female warrior of the Koga Ninja that is sent to investigate the mysterious deaths in Shimota village due to a threatening plague. Her job in the Koga is as a "poison taster" for her master's food. It turns out that she is immuned to poison, due the fact that her blood itself is a deadly poison. Even touching her could be fatal.

Lord Gemma
Himuro Gemma is Jubei's arch enemy, and even before being leader of the Devils of Kimon. It turns out that Gemma had betrayed Jubei and tricked Jubei's own clan into trying to kill him for being a traitor. In turn Jubei was forced to kill the Yamashiro clan in self defense, and then avenge their deaths by sending Gemma to hell. Gemma has the ability to re-generate his body parts, including his once severed head. Because of this power, Gemma's arrogance, he thinks he is a god. Gemma is totally evil and wants Jubei to suffer. To regenerate takes total concentration and control of one's body, and Gemma has perfected it to an art form, so much so that he can also take different forms

Mushizo
Mushizo has a weird ability to control wasps. He can talk with and command them, and also in Jubei's fight with him we see that Mushizo is a hive with in himself.

Shijima
Shijima has many strange abilities. He can control both the living and the dead like they were his slaves, and can travel freely through shadows. He can also create an illusion which multiplies of himself which can be very confusing in battle. His main weapon is his extremely powerful and lightning fast mechanical claw which glides through the shadows as easily as he does.

Tessai
Tessai is the Devil responsible for killing most of the Koga ninja team with Yurimaru. His special ability is to turn his entire body into hard stone, making him almost totally impossible to defeat. Not to mention that he is a tyrant. Along with the stone body, gargantuan size and a huge throwing blade, he has an extremely bad attiude and he's not afraid to show it.

Utsutsu Mujuro
Ututsu Mujuru is an excellent swordsman, in fact probably one of the best of all time and even though he is completely blind. He is also very strong, due to the fact that he was supporting Jubei's sword when he and Kagero were scaling a cliff. He saved them so that he might have the chance to fight Jubei.

Yurimaru
Yurimaru is second in command of the eight Devils. He is ruthless, but very non-threatening in his is very feminine and proper style to say the least. But as much in Ninja Scroll, to underestimate his power would be a deadly mistake. Even Tessai listens to him, and Tessai is more than a threatening character. His special ability is that of electrocuting his enemies with energy from his body. He does so by creating metal wires with his mind that wrap around his foes just waiting for him to shoot electricity through it.

Zakuro
Zakuro is a very vengeful and powerful woman. She also has the ability animate the dead. Not sure how she does this. We see in the movie she animates Hanza and starts him walking towards a cliff. When Kagero sees him and tries to stop him from walking off the cliff not knowing he is already dead. Zakuro sits atop a hill looking down at the actions and lets fly gunpowder from her dispensers she holds on her body. Hanza's body starts to smoke revealing fire in his belly. It ignites the gunpowder but Jubei saves Kagero just as the explosion goes off. She is in love with Yurimaru but he rejects her
