File 1: And They Met

Natsumi is on her way to work at the new section of the police department. She's worrying since she's already fifteen minutes late and she cant pass railroadd crossing because the train seems to go on forever. Eventually she decides to use the pedestrian bridge to cross the tracks.

After having crossed the bridge (and nearly run dodwn two children playing there) andd broken several traffic laws already, she runs into Miyuki patrolling in her car, Today. Natsumi does her best to get away from her again, but crashes her motorbike to avoid running over a kitten in the road. The kitten is hungry, so Natsumi reaches for her lunch box to give it something to eat. She discovers to her dismay that the luchbox is gone (she lost it when she ran through the bushes by the temple earlier.) Mijuki catches up with her and gives her a stern warning for breaking five different traffic rules. She lets her off the hook because she saved the kitten, though.

Cut to the police department. Natsumi has joined the same department as Miyuki, the traffic department, and after giving the chief a long explanation of why she was late for work, she and Miyuki are made partners. Miyuki has researche Natsumi by computer already, and thus knows a lot about her. She likes her, and being a mchanical genius, she fixes Natsumi's motorbike which was damaged in the crash. Natsumi discovers Miyuki tinkering with her bike and complains loudly - she's NOT fond of Miyuki. She's also not happy about the fact that Miyuki knows so much about her - she wonders if Miyuki knows that she's always been late for everything; school, work and so on.

Nakajima is watching the pair from afar with his binoculars when Yoriko sneaks up on him and asks what he's looking at. "Uh, birds!" he replies. Yoriko is marter that that and asks him when birds started to wear uniforms.

Later, before they're about to go out on patrol, Natsumi tells Miyuki about her dislike for her and they decide to flip a coin to see if they should remain partners or not. Just as they are about to check the result of the flip, a mysterious red Mini comes speeding around, obviously taunting the pair to chase them. They jump into their patrol car, Today, and begins pursuing it. Nakajima is already in pursuit on his motorbike, but loses control and crashes into a pile of sand. He's not hurt though, so Miyuki and Natsumi return to the pursuit.

Yoriko informs the chief of the pursuit and asks if they should send backup. But when the chif hears that it's the red Mini, he tells her that a backup wont be necessary. The chief apparently knows something about the driver of the red Mini...

The driver of the red Mini calls them up over radio calling himself "The Fox." He tells them that he's planted a bomb somewhere that'll go off in two hours and that they'll know its position at the end. A big chase follows, but the pair arent able to catch him. Natsumi eventually decides to use the car's GPS navigation system to find a way to trap the red Mini. She uses her mini motorbike, Motocompo, to take the shortcut and get ahead of the Fox. They finally corner him, but just as they're about to arrest him a special wheel appears underneath the Mini, turning it sideways and enabling the Fox to escape. Natsumi goes after him on Motocompo, but it's too late, the Fox is gone.

NOticing that there isnt much time left before the bomb goes off, Miyuki draws up the course they've run while chasing the red Mini. The course forms the outline of a plane and they realize the clue they were given is the name of an old plane on display in the park. They rush over to the park and find a bomb. A quarrel over who's going to deal with it ensues. Miyuki wants to disarm it, while Natsumi wants to throw it into the Tokyo Bay. Suddenly the bomb goes off, only to reveal itself to be pretty fireworks. Inside the box, Natsumi funds her lunch box, which she lost at the temple. The Fox watches all this from a distance - he's the temple priest!

Later, Miyuki and Natsumi are eating their lunch by Tokyo Bay. Miyuki suggests that Natsumi should move to somewhere closer to the station since she's always late. Natsumi brushes this off, though. They become good friends and Natsumi tosses the coin into Tokyo Bay.

The coin at the bottom of Tokyo Bay appears after the end credits, and it shows that they were meant to be partners after all
