Hikari's Anime List A-H

Well, here's my ever growing list! I'm always adding new titles, so check back often. :) My quality key is below, but keep in mind that all of my copies are at the mercy of those whom I request from and are rated one step below that which I see them originally rated (i.e. If one tape is rated an "EX" on the site that I requested the title from, I will rate it as "VG"). The "" and "-" are to indicate any deviation in quality as to what I believe each rating should encompass, but remember that this is based solely on my opinion. I try my best to be accurate though, and I hope the notes let you know about most of the tape glitches! Anyway, all titles are in HiFi VHS, and your copies will be one rating below mine. I'm pretty picky myself so I have very few "GD" tapes. I don't want to subject anybody to subpar copies either! ^_^

Oh yes, and one more thing: as this is a non-profit "by fans for fans" service, please let me know if any of the titles I have listed below have been commercially licensed. I will subsequently remove them from my list. Help support our American companies by purchasing the commercial release! :)

Quality Key:

  • SM: An SVHS Master, the absolute best copy I can get! Run directly from LD/DVD/TV source.
  • VM: A VHS master. Slightly lesser in quality than an SVHS master; SVHS tapes have greater picture resolution than VHS tapes. Run directly from LD/DVD/TV source.
  • S1: A first generation SVHS copy. Usually made from an SVHS master, it looks as good as (if not better than) a VHS master.
  • EX: A first generation copy made directly from a VHS/SVHS Master. Clear, crisp picture and sound with minor flaws if any.
  • VG: A second generation copy. Slight degradation in picture and sound quality from above, and may contain some minor and/or noticeable flaws. Still a very good copy for the quality-minded (like me ^_^)
  • GD: A third generation copy. More noticeable picture/color fade from above, and contains some flaws. A decent, watchable copy.
  • : Deviation in sound and picture quality: slightly better/slightly worse.
  • *N1,2,etc. See note for that particular title at the bottom of the page.
  • Titles in red are available for mixing and matching.
  • Titles in green have been recently commercially licensed, and will be removed from my list soon.
  • Titles in blue may be commercially licensed, and I'm currently looking into the details.

  • *N2= "Brother, Dear Brother" contains emotionally intense material that is considered suitable for MATURE VIEWERS ONLY!
  • *N4= All tapes are from a TV Source and picture is according to the source tape, but I rate them according to what generation each tape is.
  • *N5=This title is "shounen-ai," and thus contains homosexual content and sexual situations. DO NOT request this title if you are offended by such material!
  • *N7=In the Heavenly Chronicles series, the movie precedes the OVA series, not the other way around.
  • *N8=The picture on these two tapes is somewhat grainy, but the subtitles, color, and lines are clear otherwise.
  • *N9=My new VCRs can't track this Hime-chan volume correctly! -_- So please don't request this volume, unless you like rolling picture. ~_^
