Cherry Tree Barrow

About the Cherry Tree Barrow Guardian

Profile: A powerful onmyouji (like Subaru), a skilled mage-assassin, and a Dragon of Earth, Seishirou Sakurazuka is one man you don't want mad at you. If he gets mad. If he ever feels any emotion...Seishirou plays an important role in both Tokyo Babylon and X. In TB, he acts the part of a vet and befriends Subaru Sumeragi, 13th head of the Sumeragi clan, and his twin sister Hokuto Sumeragi. However, prior to TB, Subaru met a strange man by a cherry tree. The man had just killed another person. The stranger made a bet with Subaru: that he would return in ten years, and if Subaru could make him feel anything, he would spare the boy's life. The stranger was the Sakurazukamori, the Sumeragi clan's enemy. Seishirou didn't kill Subaru, although he claimed that killing him would be as simple as smashing a glass, and that Seishirou had won the bet. He killed Hokuto in her brother's place. In X, the two onmyouji confront each other again. (note: In the movie, all they do is fight in one scene and end up changing into dragons and killing each other. I haven't found out what happens in the manga/graphic novels yet.) Seishirou is my favorite charater by CLAMP for several reasons.
1: The looks. Darkly handsome, golden-eyed...Very kakkoi.
2: The personality. Sadistic, has a sense of humor, likes driving poor Subaru mad (or at least making him blush), dislikes 'gray people' (those with no personality and/or sense of humor)...
3: His 'Sakurazukamori' personality. Utterly ruthless, talented onmyouji-assassin, and the trademark sakura blossoms...
4: His tricks with illusion and onmyoujitsu. (Tokyo Babylon: transforming a cement block into sakura petals to save Subaru; X: transforming into a dragon--even if that fight ended with Subaru and Seishirou killing each other...)
5:

A red flash pursued the sky
When a Black Angel fell from above and disappeared that day
I let out a sigh and danced alone
Then the Black Angel spread its wings and soared...

Discovering the silk that shimmers in the morning
The Black Angel watches it from far away, lamenting,
Resting, embracing both freedom and sin
The Black Angel lives for another's sake...

'Black Angel', sung by Youji Kudou, from Weiss Kreuz.
