Aino Minako / Sailor V / Sailor Venus
Aino Minako was
first seen in the episode where her counterpart, Sailor Venus, made her
debut. But we didn't know who she was until later. If you watch that episode,
Sailor V Makes The Scene, very closely, you'll see her in the crowd after
Usagi leaves to find the imposter Sailor Moon. Minako moved to Tokyo from
England, home of the infamous Sailor V. She also has a white cat, Artemis,
who accompanied her in England. She is a sweet and pretty blonde who is
good friends with Usagi and Makoto. Her birthday is October 22, which makes
her a Libra like me! Her dreams are to become an idol. Her name, Aino Minako,
means "child of love". This makes sense, because she's supposed to be the
incarnation of the goddess Venus, or Aphrodite.
In England, Minako was the superheroine Sailor V. Some of her attacks
were Sailor V Kick and Crescent Slender Beam. The funny part is that Sailor
V was actually a manga (Japanese comic books) series, but never really
did very well. Then when Naoko Takeuchi came up with the idea for Bishojou
Senshi Sailor Moon, Sailor V ended up becoming Sailor Venus. Also, in the
early episodes of Sailor Moon, you can see that Usagi really idolizes Sailor
V. Minako even got her own animated movie! But she gave it all up to fight
with the Sailor Senshi.
As Sailor Venus, Minako really kicks some major bad-guy butt. She's
strong-willed and loyal, always there in a fight. Even when the odds are
against them, she still tries to find a way to see the bright side. One
NA quote by her was, "We haven't known each other long enough for it to
end yet!" She said this to Princess Serenity during the battle with Beryl,
and it's been one of my favorites, for it shows how much she is dedicated
to a cause, no matter what the circumstances. Even in battle she remains
the incarnation of the Goddess of Beauty, and her attacks are Venus Love-Me
Chain and Venus Love and Beauty Shock, to name a few. She really kicks
butt.
