Hino Rei / Sailor Mars

This is Hino Rei, also known as Raye in the NA version. She is training to be a priestess at the Hikawa Shrine, also known as the Cherry Hill Temple. On the outside, and usually, she is a loud and bossy girl who gets irritated when things don't go right. And with Usagi's constant klutziness, the two often get into loud arguments. Although the two don't show it very often, they're actually very close friends, and care deeply for each other. Rei has two ravens, Phobos and Deimos, who are her mascots while in the temple. Rei lives in the temple with her grandfather, who happens to be a perverted old man who tries to hit on girls Rei's age. It can be very embarrassing for Rei and the Temple sometimes, and she often needs to drag him away from a crowd of girls on the street. She also has a secret dream to be a star, and has a talent to write music and sing very well. One of my favorite NA songs is Rei's "Oh Starry Night".
 
 

Hino Rei also just happens to be Sailor Mars, the Senshi from the red planet Mars. This corresponds to the Roman myths of the god Mars, the god of war, and gives reason to Rei's belligerent attitude. Her attacks are mainly fire attacks, consisting of Mars Burning Mandala and Mars Flame Sniper. Rei's favorite food happens to be veggie pizza, but she hates canned asparagus. Then again, who doesn't? She really dislikes TV, which I totally can't comprehend, but hey, whatever floats your boat. I guess all in all, Rei is a really strong and loyal friend who shows it when it's needed the most. Although she can be bossy and domineering, it's all because she really wants things to turn out right.
