For a Fighting anime, Fatal Fury has a surprisingly good story to it. A young girl named Sylia finds Terry, and his friends to help her stop her brother from collecting a mistical armor that will make him a god, and ultimatly allow him to rule the world. It may not seem like much, but with the little romance saga that is thrown in, you will find that the story serves it's purpose, by keep you entertained throughout the entire 95 minutes. Especially the last 10 minutes, with one of the coolest surprise endings of all!
Unlike the two episode series that proceded this movie, the animation is done extremely well. Character animation is extremely detailed, and the setting animation is almost perfect. The fight scenes throughout the movie are all fast paced, and they wouldn't be the same without the amazing animation that accompanies it!
Most of the cool main characters from the videogame appear in this movie. Original characters like Terry, and Andy Bogard, Mai Shiranui, and Joe Higashi are all very entertaining, and the new characters Like Sylia, and Lao-Chorn add more excitement to the well developed cast. One of the things that I enjoyed most about this movie was the growing relationship between Terry, and Sylia. This movie has characters that work very well together.
Fatal Fury doesn't have very impressional music for a motion picture, but it's allright, becuase the loud, crisp, sound effects, and great voice acting make up for it on every account!! When heard all together, everything just sounds right. (And thats really the only way i can say it.)
I have to say that during many parts of this movie, there are a few stretches that are kind of boring. But besides those few "slow points," the rest of the movie is filled with fast-paced fight scenes, and soap opera-esk situations between the characters. Entertaining for 95 minutes is hard to do, but this movie does it pretty-damn well!
