The Story of Tenchi Universe is an attemted version to copy what the original series was going for, but there are so many differences, it almost completely loses its flavor. But all, in all the taste remains the same. The show still reminises an anime soap opera, and the characters still remain themselves, but the way the characters act towards each other, and how they end up meeting tenchi, is completely different. You'll understand when you watch. But in the long run, I prefer the first series' story line a lot better. I think the one plus, (or should I say HUGE PLUS!!) is that this series was completed, and actually has an ending. (And a good one at that!!!)
The Animation of TU is another thing that has changed alittle. In my opinion, the characters don't look as good as they did in the original, but they are more consistant. Which goes for all the other aspects of the animation in the show. Scenery, fight scenes, ect.
The character department in TU is the last thing that has changed slightly. All of the characters are still the best part of the show. The differences this time around is the addition of a new character, named Kione. The other difference is all of the background story to each of the characters. For instance, Washu is no longer Ryoko's mom, Ryoko never attacked jurai, and I have no idea what happened to the whole Tsunami, and Sasami thing. but oh well ...
Music is one category that hasn't changed much. Still the same kind of Japanese, and English J-Pop. And the orchistrated episode music is very similar. Not as good, but extremely similar. (And thats good considering how awesome the first stuff was.) Not much has changed in the sound effect category. And Voice Acting is done just as well as the first series. (Although Mihoshi has seemed to get even more annoying!!) ^_^
Like I have been saying throughout this entire review, this series is just like the first series, but with a few twists. If you were entertained by the first series, you will be entertained just as much by this one. Maybe even more now that it's longer, and actually has an ending. You will still, laugh, cheer, and maybe even cry if your into the whole love story thing. but probably not. ^_^

Final Thought Allright, the series has gotten a tini-bit worse than the first one, but its very similar, and It is actually concluded! And thats hard to dislike! |
