Security Police Section 9 Bateau, like Motoko, is an expert in unlawful activities, and has been her partner for several years. His main role is to control and support Motoko who usually tends to go too far. They have been working together so long that they have grown accusyomed to each other. Bateau is also mostly Robotic, although he does have more "Human parts" than Motoko. Along with controlling Motoko, he protects her and at times shows that he cares for her ( especially when she was battling a tank by herself and he came with his "standard issue big gun" :). They are both the closest thing to family that they have.
