The Story Of Saturn

As the sun rose over the white and beautiful beach, Hotaru Tomoe was having a strange sense of deja’vu. ”It’s as if I have seen this same sunrise over a million millennia.” Hotaru thought as she sat watching the sun. She remembered when Mistress Nine had come and taken her and her fathers body because he wanted to save her. She remembered the re-birth she had gone through after that incident. She also remembered the wonderful friendship that has developed with Rini. Her wonderful friend had protected her and had faith in her even when Hotaru had almost killed her. She had never had a friend like that before. She also remembered her new life with Ten’ou Haruka and Kaiou Michiru. They had taken care of her with the assistance of Meiou Setsuna. Hotaru now knew that she was the legendary sailor senshi, Sailor Saturn that would destroy the world some day. That day had come and gone and she was still having nightmares about the dreaded night when her fate was to be sealed away in the depths of her destiny. She also knew that Ten’ou and Michiru are the sailor senshi, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune, and Setsuna was Sailor Pluto the guardian of The Gate of Time. Together they formed the Outer Senshi. The Inner Senshi are Serena/Sailor Moon, Amy/Sailor Mercury, Ray/Sailor Mars, Lita/Sailor Jupiter, Mina /Sailor Venus, and Rini/Sailor Chibi Moon. As she thought about her sudden interest in memories a whole new flood of memories and strange alien thoughts seemed to enter her head, and she started to go back. Farther than when she was born as Hotaru Tomoe, and even back as far as the Silver Millennium. Suddenly she was not on the quiet beach, she was in space. She was seeing the sunrise over the Earth, or was it the Moon? It was the Moon with enough inhabitants to make her think it was the Earth. Suddenly she seemed to feel thousands of lives suddenly cry out as if in some unbearable anguish. She was crying and dressed in her Sailor Saturn fuku. Unable to stop herself she lowered her Glave (scythe) and screamed the deadly words of her pity induced attack. ”DeathRebornRevolution “She screamed the attack with all of the pain and anguish that she had been holding inside herself since she heard the herd wrenching cries. The small helpless planet suddenly went silent, as everyone one on the planet was killed. The silence that followed seemed to frighten the entire galaxy. Suddenly she saw a colorful mass approaching her. She had an urge to destroy it but something held her back. As the mass grew closer, she saw that it was a bunch of bubbles. Inside she could see her future heroes, caretakers, and friends. Saturn saw a pink bubble, first, leading the way. Inside of it was klutzy Serena, as Princess Serenity. Next, she saw a gray bubble, with the royal Prince Darien from Earth, protecting Serena as always. After him came a small blue bubble. It contained intelligent and kind Amy, with a love of anything that could expand her mind. Even then beautiful Ray looked angry and stubborn in her fire red bubble. A green bubble came next containing strong and quick Lita. She was hovering close to the other Sailors, being their bodyguard even then. Next came beautiful Mina in a bubble that flashed orange and yellow. She was as pretty as ever looking just like Serena, as she was meant to be. After the Inner senshi left, Saturn thought that the show was over but then she saw two familiar shapes. Another bubble come flying past her with such speed that she barely had time to look in the bubble to see who was inside it before it disappeared, it seemed to flash navy blue and gold. It was…. Ten’ou! An aqua marine bubble came sailing past after Ten’ou’s bubble. It seemed to carry with it a slow soft melody, sounding just like a violin. Saturn looked inside of it and saw Michiru. Finally, the last bubble, a dark red one, came by then it disappeared. Saturn knew it was Setsuna, going to guard the gates of time. She felt lonely. The kind of lonely that is so deep and sorrowful that you must cry. She did just that. She cried and cried and cried until she could cry no longer. She wanted to go somewhere were she could forget everything and live a normal life without the grief she felt every day of her long life. So she sealed herself up in a Purple bubble and sent herself off to Earth to join the others. Hotaru awoke with a start. Had she been dreaming? No it had seemed so real. She had even felt the unexplainable grief she had been feeling for a long time. Hotaru wiped her eyes and looked around. She saw that time had seemed to stop and even the shadowy figures of Ten’ou and Michiru coming to pick her up had seemed to froze in place. So she tried to remember back further than the Silver Millennia, back to the first Saturn, although her family had not known it at the time.

She was a normal Saturnian, but she had a special power. Even the Elders on her planet seemed to fear her. She had taken to carrying a huge scythe, the same scythe that history would call her Death Glave. She had not known her power until a small annoying boy had been taunting her. She said, “O why don’t you just die?” and she struck her scythe at him and he did. He died right there on the spot. She realized then that she had the power to destroy people. Her planet came to hate her and they tried and found her guilty for murder. Her punishment was to be exiled from Saturn forever. Their atmosphere wasn’t very good so she didn’t need to breathe. They sent her out to space and there she stayed. She learned to use the deadly art that she had been born with. After about ten years of learning to bend the deadly art to her will, she went back to the same Saturn she had left ten years ago. The same Saturn that she had grown up in was different now because the youngest Elder had come into power and he was a bad ruler. She saw the second she came back into Saturn’s atmosphere, the difference. War had broken out in there normally peaceful planet. Thousands of voices were crying out for someone to stop the pain and anguish that the war had caused. She felt pity for them and came to stop the terrible fighting. Saturn, for that was her real name at the time, walked calmly into the Elders Circle and said in the most powerful voice she could muster ”You have been the most horrid ruler in the entire history of Saturn. You have made my people suffer in the hovels that you claim as decent houses, and take their food and water. I am Saturn! You and the long retired Elders of Saturn had exiled me form Saturn forever but I defile your stupid, insignificant laws by coming here to punish you. So here I am to kill you and take my revenge. Remember me for I am the last person you will ever see, and remember my name for it is the last thing you will ever hear. Learn this name and fear it, for I am Sailor Saturn! Death Reborn Revolution!! “ and with that she struck him with her Glave and the entire planet shook with the force of her blow, but it didn’t stop with him. She screamed as she lost control of the power radiating from inside of her “NO!!!!! I DIDN’T MEAN FOR THIS TO HAPPEN!!!!!” The blast of power was so great that it knocked her back to the floor of the Elders Circle. She was almost completely drained of all of her energy when the blast stopped. She saw no human forms anywhere when she went outside. She moaned that she didn’t mean for this to happen. “It was an accident. I didn’t mean for this to happen.” She was about to start crying when she heard some faint sobbing. She looked around the dead planet, and found two children, one a boy and the other a girl. They were crying and huddled together in a small space of grass. They were the only humans on the whole planet that were still living. She carried and took care of them until they could forge for themselves. She died shortly after that, and has been born many times down the line of the Saturn Royal Family, and every time she is born the parents are compelled to name her Saturn. She was born the last time before she found herself tried for another murder of a small boy just like the one from the original Saturn, and she was exiled to space. She felt herself compelled to go and judge other planets. She then went from planet to planet. Destroying planets in need of death and growing life from planets that had a destiny. She paved the way for the Princesses of our galaxy to come into being. When they all gathered together on the moon she knew she could die but she didn’t. She destroyed the Moon’s population then sealed herself in the bubble and that lead to Hotaru’s life as she remembered it now. Hotaru awoke with tears streaming down her face, and in Ten’ou and Michiru’s arms. She cried hard and they just held her.

Epilogue:

Later when Serena became Neo-Queen Serenity she told the other scouts about her story. It made them cry, laugh, get angry, and most of all it made them think about their past and their lives on the moon the most. They remembered every little detail about their lives in the Silver Millennium, but none thought about their lives more than Hotaru, who never forgot her life or her destiny.

“I am the scout who never dies. I will come back soon. Sayonara….”
