Miaka
Miaka is an 8th grader. She is trying to get into a good high school (in Japan they complete for high schools) with her best friend, Yui. While at the National Library, Miaka is guided by a red light to a storage room in the library. There she discovers the Book of the Universe of the Four Gods. Yui follows Miaka in there and since she can read ancient Chinese, she begins to read the book. As she reads, she and Miaka are sucked into the book. They arrive and are saved by Tamahome (as stated early). Anyway, fast-forward to the situation of Miaka being the priestess of Suzaku, Hotohori is in love with her, and she needs to find the rest of the Suzaku Seven to save Hotohori's kingdom and get back home. She does, but feels really bad about the fact that Yui is her enemy, Yui got raped (so Yui thinks), and Yui loves Tamahome (Miaka's choice).
Poor Miaka; most of her problems stem from Yui. I mean Nakago trying to kill her and her friends, and Hotohori trying to steal her from Tamahome are also problems. But in the end she gets the job done. And everyone is saved. I won't actually tell the ending, because some people might get mad, but let's just say Miaka's on top of things.
