;) our third lesson: names

Alrighty, by going to page 2, it seems that you are at least a little bit interested in knowing conversational Japanese! Awesome. So, let's not waste any more time. Back to the lessons!

Sooner or later, you'll want to find out this child's name, and vise versa. Here's how to do it.

O-namae wa nan desu ka? -What is your name? (Oh-nah-my-aye wah naun deh-s kah)

Forms of this question which all mean the same:

O-namae? O-namae wa?

Watashi wa _____ desu. My name is _____. (wah-tah-shee wah _____ deh-s)

Forms of this statement:

_____ desu. or simply, _____.

;) lesson four: nice to meet you!

Alrighty! Now you know each other's names. It's now time to bow while saying..

Hajimemashite. -Nice to meet you (ha-jee-may-mah-she-tay)

Your introductory bow should be relatively low. Remember to keep your eyes on the ground, showing humbleness and respect. The next pleasantry to say is..

Yoroshiku onegaishimasu. -Please do me the favour of being a kind friend. (yo-row-she-kuh awe-nay-guy-ee-she-mah-su)

Literly, this doesn't really have a translation. To put it simply, you are just asking for friendship. However, the person you are speaking to doesn't say yes or no, but rather repeats the saying Yoroshiku onegaishimasu back to you.
