St. Patrick's Day 2000

by Mark Rogers

It is that time again when the luck of the Irish is bestowed. Saint Patrick's Day. Planning of outfits needs to be given thought, as you do not want to be caught without wear'in of the green, someone may joyfully pinch you! It could be a complete emerald plaid or jacquard outfit, a button hole dime store shamrock, or a cut out but small insignia of the day to wear for good fortune. Or held with in our heart and soul at the risk of a pinch, for only you to know.

It is the time of lore, leprechauns, their mischievous deeds, the antics they do endow and the fun they can provoke. Little elves that make our wishes come true and smooth our path. A childlike quality that could cause you to frown at their carefree deeds. Devil-may-care attitudes that cause you to loose the frown and break into a smile as you would a naughty child. They shower us with shamrocks that dust our hair as they bestow the luck of the Irish as they so impart. Catch one, and hold it tight, close your eyes and make a wish.

A pot of gold is waiting for us at the end of the rainbow. Happiness is in our grasp, so long as we have hopes and dreams to clasp. Irish eyes are smiling upon us all. Pea green ones that dance with merriment and a twinkle that sparkles as a wet diamond with the gleamer of good fortune for deserving aspirations.

On this day a four leaf clover may be our good fortuity to find. It is held for a moment, marveled at. That someone special is sought after and it is presented with a smile to make them feel so endearing.

Dance with the little leprechaun today. Aim for the sky; the clouds, the sun, the moon, the stars. Heights that know not any end. Forget your troubles and run your fingers through your pot of gold. There is good, there is love, there is hope. There is life.
