Here comes another exciting review by Mene!
I'll be an Angel is a fan subbed show that at first glance seems like a cross between the Adams Family, Uresei Utsura and Ah! My Goddess. The main character, this sweet boy named Yousuke comes across a naked young lady, Noelle, who decides that Yousuke is her husband. The whole zaney family moves in a makes Yousuke's house like like a carnival(his parents are away, the boy is in high school). At first glance, despite the beautiful animation (they have the most imcredible eye lashes!), it just seems stupid. Noelle is obnoxiously cheerful and childish, don't get me
wrong I usually have nothing against that, but she's just over the top! And most of the other characters are fairly 2-dimensional. But there are two things that keep a person watching. 1) the badguy. He is this strange jestor with eye lashes down to his chin and a wooden doll he keeps talking to. Here are possibly the proto-types for Joe and Ann of Slayers Next. What does this guy want? 2) The token Bishonen, another high schooler who says little and carries around a seemingly empty book that occaisionally is full of runes. The guy seems to be watching everything.
Plus the fan subbers put next to the voice actors' names what other famous characters they have played.
So it's not great, but if there is nothing else worth to watch, it's not horrible.
Hecate would like to add that it's actually not quite as lame as Mene has made it out to be. ^_^ Granted, it is not the most intelligent show that I have ever seen. Ok, far from it. But still, there is something intriguing about the story and the characters, with the exception of Noelle, who is just annoying. The character of Sara, the invisible daughter, is fascinating, because she has so many possibilities for plot development. Basically, this show has LOTS of possibilities, and I look forward to seeing where it goes. So it seems that what I'm saying is that "Tenshi ni Narumon" is worth more than a passing glance out of boredom. Be sure you're feeling absurd before watching, though! :)
