Gendo Ikari pictures
Gendo Ikari is Shinji's father, and yet the two never behave like father and son. Shinji dislikes and distrusts his father, and Gendo responds by either ignoring his son, or by just being cold and unfriendly to him. Yet when he is with Rei Ayanami, pilot of Eva 00 and, I think, the First Child, they behave like a heppy family. He makes her smile, and she makes him smile. It, to my mind, is rather suspicious. Rei, in turn, has fostered a daughterly love to him, and can't abide anyone being nasty to him, even whe he is not there.
Gendo has dealings with the UN, none of which like his Evangelion project. He generally authorises things and occasionally oversees them. There is not much known about this man, just really that he left Shinji with his mother at an early age, something that his son never seems to forget. I have seen up to video 4 (not a lot, I know), and they have aquired a creature they call the 'first human', Adam. It looks like a human/Angel hybrid to me. Maybe it is.
