Author's Note: This occurs after the events in the series. As for what it's before, you can kinda choose for yourself! I'm not sure about you guys, but I have three different mangas with three different stories about what happened after the series and before Endless Waltz. So...it's before those mangas. Feel free to choose whichever one because I fully intend to have this fan fic not clash with those mangas! ^_^* Also, there'll be some violence. Just a warning! I think that's about it! Hope you like!!
Quatre ran his hand through his hair. A thick pile of paper sat on his desk; all of them required his attention. Turning his head to the right, he saw another pile of paper requiring his attention - his homework. After the war, Quatre had taken over the Winner family's business and had started homeschooling. He let out a low groan before going back to reading the business papers.
Irene, Quatre's second eldest sister, knocked on the large doors leading into Quatre's office. There was a muffled "come in", and she let herself in. Quatre signed a paper and looked up at the slender woman with long blond hair in front of him. Irene smiled sympathetically and proceeded towards the large desk.
It was a good thing it was a large desk. Irene had come in to drop off another pile of papers. Quatre nodded thankfully, but his sister could tell that underneath that pleasant smile, her brother was having a hard time dealing with all the work.
She walked over to where Quatre was seated and gave him a warm hug. Quatre looked up at her and smiled. "Thanks, Irene," he said in a voice that was almost a whisper. She nodded and said, "Why don't you take a little time off. Ever since the war ended, you've been working so hard. I'll have your other sisters finish up this paperwork, and as for the homework, I'll tell your teacher that you're taking a short break. Sort of a vacation. You need and deserve one, little brother."
Quatre blinked and asked, "Are you sure? I mean..this is a lot of work, and the homework...I need to keep up with my studies." Irene laughed and answered, "Yes I am sure. I am older sister, you have to listen to what I say. You little workaholic. Take a break. You need it." She ruffled his hair and waited for him to stand.
The blond boy nodded and stood up. "Thanks again," he said as he walked out of the elegant office. As the doors shut behind him, Irene smiled. Take a good breather, Quatre.
Quatre walked into his room. On the bed there was a envelope. I bet one of my sister's put it here. I wonder who it's from, though.... He opened the envelope and took out a typed letter. It read:
To Quatre Raberba Winner:
Greetings. I would like to meet up with you tomorrow at noon for lunch. Please meet me at the French cafe. You should know which one, there is only one on this colony. See you then.
Quatre flipped the letter over and looked at the envelope. Nobody had signed the letter, and there was no name on the envelope other than his own. He shrugged and lay down on the soft bed. "Who ever it is, I'll see them tomorrow at noon," he murmured as he fell into a much deserved sleep.
The young Arab woke up refreshed. The artificial sun had risen and was showering light into the room. As he went about his morning business, the letter kept crossing his thoughts. Who is this person? Why do they want to see me? The idea that perhaps it was one of the Gundam pilots was a hope in his mind, but he had a feeling that it wasn't. As his mind drifted off, he thought about his friends, the Gundam pilots.
He hadn't seen any one of them since the war had ended. The last time he saw any of them was at the hospital after the final battle. As he was recovering from the wound Dorothy had inflicted on him, Duo and Trowa had made a visit. Duo had brought empty champagne glasses, and the three had a fine drink of air to celebrate the ending of the war.
Quatre's mind was rocketed back to the present time when Irene peered into his room. "Good morning, Quatre. I see you got the letter. I had one of your sisters deliver it. Who was it?" she said as she leaned against the doorframe.
Quatre walked towards the door and his sister and answered, "I don't know who it is. They want to meet me at noon though." He checked his watch. It was ten in the morning. "I still have some time to do a little work before I head out..."
"Uh uh. Remember? You're taking a break. Why don't you go have a cup of tea and read the newspaper or something? Do something soothing and fun for once, Quatre," she interjected. Quatre was a little surprised, but he nodded happily. "Sure thing, Irene."
Quatre looked at his watch. It was noon. He walked into the small French cafe and looked around him. He didn't see anyone he knew, but a man stood up and walked towards him. He was tall, a little older than Quatre, had spiked blond hair, and clear blue eyes. "Hello Quatre Raberba Winner. I've been waiting for you. My name is Banshov Havnorton. Just call me Bav," the man said as he extended his hand towards Quatre.
Quatre smiled at Bav and shook the extended hand. "Did you want to see me for something?" he asked the other blond. Bav moved them toward the empty table where two cups of tea waited. "Yes, I did. Please, take a seat, and I'll begin," he said. Quatre took a seat and waited for the man to start.
"When you very young, the World Federation asked the Arab Nations to join. They refused. This was because your father, being the head of the most influential family of the Arab Nations, refused.
"The man in charge of asking came back to the Federation to tell them the news. He had failed, and he was humilated for it. The Federation members made fun of him, for he was the man who could not make a few, weak nations join the Federation. He felt so horrible that he committed suicide.
"Quatre...that man was my father. I am here now to take revenge. To take revenge on your entire family. During your time as a Gundam pilot, I learned more about you. It's a pity that your father already died...I had something planned for him. No matter though. I'll get his son instead.
"While you fought in the war, I practiced and practiced.my skills of fighting, and I fully intend to use them on you and your family. Lucky for me, my father still had a few men that were loyal to him. Most of those men were killed by the Gundam pilots, however. They're sons live on though. So...they are part of my force. We are all out for your blood."
Bav sat back in his seat as he watched Quatre sit in shock. Images of his father and sister dying filled his mind. Father....Iria... He stiffly stood up and made his way out of the cafe. Bav's cold eyes followed him out. Watch your back, Winner. I'll get you.
Quatre was still in shock when he got home to the Winner Estate on L4. Irene noticed and walked over. "Quatre! What's wrong? You look like you've seen a ghost!" Irene lowered Quatre into a chair and knelt down to look him straight in the eyes.
His eyes look so scared. Fear. That's all that I see there. I don't think I've ever seen him like this before... Irene ran her hand along her brother's pale skin. "Tell me, Quatre. What's wrong," she questioned. Quatre's mouth moved, but no sound came out. Tears began to well up in his eyes.
Several silent minutes passed before Quatre started speaking. He explained about Bav, Bav's father, and Bav's wish to kill them all. Irene's eyes continued to grow wider as more of the horrible information unfolded in front of her.
When he had finished speaking, he appeared to have regained his confidence. He stood up and looked down at his elder sister, who was still kneeling. "Irene, I want you to get the rest of our family out of L4. Go down to Earth to the Magnamuac. They will protect you," he ordered. Irene started, but Quatre cut her off. "It's for your own good and safety. It's too dangerous here...who knows what Bav will do."
"But Quatre, what about yourself? Aren't you going to come with us?" Irene asked. Quatre grimly shook his head. "No. I have to stay and fight him. If I run, he'll chase. He's after my blood more than anyone else's, so you should be safe for a while. I won't let him harm you or any of our family. Please, Irene, do this. For me. For the family." Quatre pleaded.
Irene's eyes filled with tears as she answered. "Very well, little brother. We'll go, but you make sure to get out of this ok. None of us would ever forgive ourselves if you ended up dying." The tears spilled over as Irene tightly hugged Quatre. "Don't worry, Irene. I'll make it out of this. Don't worry."
The blond woman took one last look at her brother before running off to get the rest of her sisters. Quatre sank back into the chair. It's back to the battlefield isn't it? If that's so, I guess I should pay Sandrock a visit.
Quatre walked quickly to the hanger. It was empty save for Sandrock, which was what he had expected. There were still mobile suit technicians on L4, and they were fairly easy to find. Within a matter of hours, a group of mobile suit technicians were assembled in the hanger. Quatre stood at the head of them, still wearing his business clothes.
"Hello to you all, and thank you for coming. I have called you here today to ask for your aid. It is your choice if you want to participate. I will be needing assistance with repairing Sandrock fairly soon, and I was wondering if any of you would like to help," explained the former and soon-to-be-once-more Gundam pilot.
A voice piped up in the middle of the crowd. "Why? Aren't we in a time of peace?" There were several murmurs of agreement. Quatre waited for them to quiet down before continuing. "Yes, yes. We are in a time of peace, but I need Sandrock to defend my family and maybe even this colony. There is a man out there who wants my blood as well as my family's. I know that all of you are not with that man because you worked with my father. I trust you. If you had been with that man, you would've tried to kill my father, but none of you did. So, I ask you, are some of you willing to help me?"
Expecting only a few men to volunteer, Quatre was overwhelmed when the entire group said yes. He smiled and thanked them. "Thank you....thank you all!!"
Irene and the rest of her sisters had reached the Magnamuac headquarters. They each had been given room assignments and had at least one Magnamuac soldier looking after them at all times. The group of warriors were a bit disappointed to hear that their master did not want any help from them in the battlefield, though.
Rashid had called Irene to have a chat with her. As the slender and worried woman came in to the room, Rashid was looking at the computer screen in front of him. "I'm sorry, did I come at a bad time?" whispered Irene. Rashid turned around and answered, "No. Please sit down. I want to discuss the situation with you."
The two had a long chat. Rashid deemed that they would follow Quatre's wishes unless something went wrong. He would keep watch of L4's condition at all times, and Magnamuac troops would be ready to go there in a matter of minutes. Irene was deeply relieved by the fact that Rashid and the rest of his troops were so willing to help them. Though she felt slightly better, she still felt sad that she had left her little brother all alone in space to fight the enemy. All alone.....he's all alone...
The technicians made quick work of Sandrock. It wasn't long before the Gundam was back to fighting shape and was loaded up for battle; Quatre had even placed his piloting suit in the cockpit. Not wanting anything to happen to Sandrock, Quatre made all of the techincians leave the hanger. He then applied the security system that he had never used before. The system consisted of a wall of infared lasers around the Gundam, a network of the same type of lasers around the entire hanger, and a specially designed door that required an entire host of security checks to enter. Nobody is going to use Sandrock against this colony or my family.
Bav was leading his troops from the front in a modified Virgo. The rest of his troops also used the modified Virgo, but his was different. It was painted a bright red and had jet black flames racing across the arms and legs. On the left leg, "Die Winner" were painted on in neat orange letters. Inside, the pilot was clad in a blood red piloting suit. His hands clenched the controls tightly.
Bav throttled his engines and began the final stretch before he reached the colony. The rest of his troops saw that he had increased his speed, and they followed. Bav's cold blue eyes were narrowed, and his lips formed a thin line. "I'm coming for you, Quatre...I'm coming for your blood!!"
Quatre made his way back to his room. When he entered, one of the technicians was waiting for him. The man had been loyal to the Winner family from the time of Quatre's father. Quatre was a bit surprised to find him there, but greeted him pleasantly. "Hello, Samuel. Is there something I can do for you?"
The man shook his head, and rummaged through the bag he was holding. After several seconds, he took out a small handgun. Quatre took a step back when the man raised the gun in his hand. "Here, I want you to have it. All these years, I've been keeping this thing to protect your family. Please, Mr. Winner, take it," Samuel said as he placed it into Quatre's hand.
Quatre mouthed a thank you as the man walked out. He sank it a nearby chair, lost in thought. Little did he know that his colony had just received a host of assasins.
Bav waited outside the colony in his Virgo as most of his troops entered the colony. I'll flush him out. He won't get away. The blond man curled and uncurled his fingers around his controls. He was starting to get impatient.
Inside the colony, the alarm had finally been raised. Everyone in the colony began to rush towards the evacuation facilities. To their dismay, it was the evacuation facilities that were the first under attack. All the escape shuttles were destroyed, and the civilians were held hostage.
Quatre had heard the alarm and had immediately started for the hanger. Unfortunetly, there were enemies all over the colony by this time. But it didn't matter to him, he had to protect the colony. With his handgun held tightly in his hands, Quatre proceeded down the enemy infested hallways.
As he rounded a corner, Quatre heard heavy footsteps behind him. They were fast and made no attempt to be quiet. With his head turned behind him, the blond ran down a dark hallway only to met by a hail of bullets. The Gundam pilot managed to slip into the protection of a doorway, but had received a bullet wound in his right arm in the process. Clenching his upper right arm with his left hand, Quatre returned fire with the gun gripped in his right hand. The area was too dark to see anything, so Quatre had missed his mark, and he didn't dare waste any more bullets in this round of fighting.
Hoping to find an escape route, Quatre looked into the room in which the doorway he was hiding in. Luckily and unluckily for him, it was filled with various types of computer equipment, but there was no escape route. He entered the room and locked the door behind him. Not bothering to find a light, Quatre felt around one of the tables in the room until he found what he wanted - night vision gear. The gear consisted of a viewer for a person's left eye and a mini-computer that provided information in the same viewer. Slipping it on, Quatre hurried out again.
He had the advantage this time, and shot the men in the surrounding area. With no one ahead of him, and no one behind him, Quatre took off at a dead run towards the hanger.
Bav was angry. He was hearing reports from inside the colony that some of his men had been killed. He muttered several curses and ordered all of them to go to the hanger and await Quatre's arrival. The men immediately followed their superior's orders.
Quatre was still oblivious of this most current operation and was nearing the hanger. As he was about the round the last corner, his mini-computer showed body heat around the corner. Stopping at the corner, Quatre peered around the corner to see what he could see with his night vision gear. Sure enough, there were men lining the area around the hanger. The blond muttered a curse under his breath.
Looking around him for a way to get to the hanger without getting himself killed, Quatre saw the air vent. It would be dangerous to enter the hanger that way, but it seemed like the only way. Hoisting himself into the small dark maze, Quatre hoped that he would get to the hanger unnoticed.
Quatre did indeed get into the hanger without getting noticed. He entered the hanger from the air vent close to the door which was an amazingly big relief for him. Landing quietly on the ground, Quatre turned around and faced the small electronic panel to his right. Entering a password, the network of infared lasers were removed.
As he ran across the hanger floor, one of the men outside noticed that there was a person in the hanger. He shouted an alarm, and the commanding officer there reported the information to Bav. The leader howled and ordered the men to their mobile suits. The men scurried off to do their leader's bidding.
Quatre neared the corner where Sandrock was stowed and faced another electronic panel. Entering another password, the lasers around the Gundam vanished. Leaping off the hanger floor, Quatre made his way to the cockpit of Sandrock.
Once inside the Gundam, Quatre changed from his bloodied white silk shirt and black slacks into his piloting outfit. His bullet wound still stung and bled, but Quatre managed to block out the feeling. After slipping on his helmet, Quatre brought the Gundam to life.
A swarm of modified Virgos crowded in front of Bav's special Virgo. He was sure that the young Winner would be able to defeat the men in front of him. He wanted a final match with Quatre, but he also wanted to wear the boy down before they met. Bav decided that this was the perfect way.
A large smirk appeared on Bav's face when a what looked like a sparkling star made its way towards them. I've been waiting for you....Winner.
Quatre throttled the vernier engines and plowed Sandrock toward the group of waiting Virgos. Gripping the heat shorters on Sandrock's back, Quatre prepared for battle. As he was about to commence battle, a transmission came in. "Well, well, well, Quatre Raberba Winner. It appears that you have made it out of the colony alive, and you have made it out with your Gundam. You're more resourceful than I thought you were. Well, no matter. You are to fight these men you see here. If you finish them all off, you will face me in the final battle. Farewell!" said Bav. The transmission ended, and the Virgos began a relentless attack.
Shield held in front, Sandrock charged into the fray. Slashing with his heat shorters, Quatre managed to take out the nearby Virgos. Turning around, Sandrock unleashed a vicious attack with its vulcans. A few of the slower reacting Virgos were hit and destroyed, but a few managed to bring up their shields in time. As the shields formed, the enemy suits began firing at Sandrock with their beam cannons. Holding up his shield, Quatre managed to block most of the hits.
The heat shorters were glowing a bright red when Quatre threw them at a pair of Virgos. The blades cleanly cut the suits in half. Hurrying over, Quatre quickly retrieved the blades and turned to face the enemies coming from behind him. Before he had a chance to block, one of the Virgos hit Sandrock with a blast from its beam cannon. It shook the Gundam violently and caused Quatre to let out a shout of pain. The pain in his arm seared to an almost unbearable level. Unable to relieve himself of the pain, the blond was forced to bear it and continue the battle.
The Arab let out a battle cry and charged at the remaining Virgo suits. Not caring if they fired at him or not, Quatre plowed through the ranks of the enemy. Swiping away at anything in his way, the Gundam pilot created a row of destruction. Turning back around, he found that there were only three Virgos left, one of them being Bav's.
Bav's underlings held up their beam cannons and began an unending attack. Shot after shot was fired at the Gundam. Finally, after several minutes of attacking, the Virgos stopped. They waited for the smoke to clear to see if the Gundam was still there. To Bav's happiness and disappointment, the Gundam was nowhere to be found.
Irene couldn't stand it any longer. Rashid had told her that the battle on L4 had started already, and that Quatre was facing a large group of Virgos. She had to see if her little brother was all right, so she had slipped out on a shuttle. Scanning her radar, she found three mobile suits in the vicinity of L4. All three are Virgos...where is Quatre?
A wave of fear swept over her. No...he couldn't have. Not Quatre...no! She clenched her fists and tears spilled onto her cheeks. Running to the back of the shuttle, she saw something she wasn't expecting; it was one of the Magnamuacs mobile suits. Her blue eyes narrowed, Irene boarded the mobile suit and left the shuttle to face the three enemy Virgos that were coming towards her.
Bav chatted casually with his two remaining men as they drifted towards Earth and the remainder of the Winner family. They stopped suddenly when they saw the mobile suit sitting in front of them. It had its rifle raised and pointed at Bav's Virgo. Bav smirked at the small threat posed by the pilot, who he knew would be one of Quatre's sisters. "You don't scare me, Winner sister," he said.
Irene was practically shaking with fear inside of the mobile suit. She had never learned how to handle one, and it was a miracle that she had actually managed to manuever the suit in the first place. Her hands trembled as she clenched and unclenched the controls. She had a lock on the red colored Virgo, but she didn't have the courage to shoot. I...I...I can't do this!
The two Virgos on Bav's sides fired their beam cannons at the unmoving mobile suit. Irene held her hand up to her face as the two beams came right at her. Is this the end?
After waiting for the hit that never came, Irene opened her eyes and saw another mobile suit in front of her. Nobody in the battle believed what they were seeing. Sandrock had managed to block the attack with its shield. The battered mobile suit stood protectively in front of the other suit.
Quatre's breath was ragged and came in short gasps, his hair was plastered to his forehead with sweat, and his arm was more painful than ever, yet he still managed to protect his older sister. Opening a line with the Magnamuac suit, Quatre spoke to his sister. "Irene...what are you doing out here? I told you to stay with the Magnamuac. Please, Irene," he pleaded.
"But Quatre!"
"No! Stay out of this," Quatre ordered. Irene was a bit shocked, but knew that Quatre meant it for the best. She slowly backed away from the Gundam and watched from a safe distance away. Bav could do nothing but stare in horror and surprise. "How did he..," he growled.
Sandrock faced the three Virgos. Before they knew what hit them, the two suits on Bav's sides were destroyed by Sandrock's missiles. Bav gasped in horror. The young Winner had managed to defeat all of his men. No difference. He's so beat up. I'll have no problem getting rid of this pest. Father! I will restore your honor!
Gundam and Virgo squared off. Bav made the first move by taking out a beam saber and charging at Quatre. The younger blond moved aside and slashed at the Virgos unprotected back with his heat shorters. The long gash cackled with electricity, but Bav was not ready to go yet. Firing at the Gundam with his beam cannon, Bav hoped he could score a shot. Just a few shots...that's all it takes... After missing Sandrock each time, Bav was beginning to become afraid. In order to restore his confidence, he shouted insults at Quatre. "You frail little thing! You're so weak! If you were strong, you would've been able to destroy all of those Virgos without any problem!! You..."
"You're afraid aren't you? You're afraid of dying. Admit it Bav," Quatre said in a calm voice. There was a period of silence between the suits. Neither one moved.
Bav's shoulders shook as he began an insane laugh. "hahahaha!! You must be kidding, Winner! I have no fear of death!! hahahaha!!!!" he screamed at the top of his lungs. He throttle his engines and plunged towards Sandrock, beam saber raised above his head. Quatre's natural reaction was to strike back with his heat shorters.
Bav continued to laugh as his Virgo exploded around him. "I'll win Quatre!! I'll win and kill your family!! hahahaha!!!"
Then there was silence.
Quatre sank back into his seat and took a deep breath. "It's all over," he whispered to no one in particular. He closed his eyes and fell unconscious.
Quatre opened his blue eyes and looked about him. Somebody was nearby, but he didn't know where. Suddenly Irene appeared in the room. "Irene!" he happily shouted. Irene smiled and ran over. The two embraced.
"Ouch!" Quatre exclaimed when he felt the pain in his arm return when they embraced. Irene immediately removed her arms around her brother. "I'm so sorry Quatre. But I've got some good news for you. Bav is gone, all of our family is well, business is booming, and your teacher has granted you a vacation," she said while a large smile decorated her face.
Quatre smiled and yawned. "I guess I'm still kinda tired," he quietly murmured. Irene nodded her head and helped Quatre get into a comfortable sleeping position. When his kind, blue eyes closed, she went out of the room. Before closing the light and door, she whispered, "Thank you Quatre. Thank you for everything."
