The Neatest Things About Chocobos

Chocobos have been known to be in every Final Fantasy.... I have from Final Fantasy 3-8 and all of the games have chocobos. let us get to the point, shall we?? Chocobos ride you around almost anywhere you would like to go.... even if its a continent away. These tough little birds are found at Chocobo Forests (at least in Final Fantasy 8). Upon First entering a chocobo forest, you'll meet a boy appropriatly named Chocoboy. He'll give you a ChocoWhis and he'll teach you how to use it for a mere 1000 Gil. The Chocowhis is your tool for locating Chicobos in forests, so im afraid there is no way to get around paying the initial 1000 Gil. The ChocoWhis has two modes: ChocoSonar and ChocoZiner. ChocoSonar is used to sniff out a Chicobos location. The ChocoWhis will emit a soft ping as you search an area and and changes to a fast-pitched, louder ping when your standing in the right spot. After locating such a spot, you must change the ChocoWhis over to ChocoZiner mode. Blowing the ChocoZiner will cause a chicobo(s)to drop from above or go hiding if your on the right spot. If your not on the right spot the Chicobo will steal your ChicoWhis, thus forcing you to but a new one from Chicoboy.

Tonberry Now that the time limit is no longer in effect, return to the Centra ruins. Meet and fight with the Tonberrys near the entrance. They're tough, but persevere: Diablos and strong physical attacks are your best bet. Be sure you can revive deceased party members, as Tonberry is fond of killing your friends. Defeat 20 Tonberrys and don't neglect to save between battles. The 20th victory leads straight into a fight with the Tonberry king. Diablos works well, as do double and triple casts of powerful spells. If you've got aura, flaunt it! Defeat him to earn the Tonberry guardian force. (Aside: Be sure to Ammo-RF all your chef's knives into powerful AP ammo.) Location: Defeat 20 Tonberrys and the Tonberry king at the Centra ruins Attack: Chef's knife Element: None Useful skills: LV Up/ LVDown command, haggle menu, sell-high menu, familiar menu Overview: LV Up makes for a more difficult battle and more experience; LV Down weakens your foes and helps you win. Haggle makes merchants sell new items for less, while sell-high makes merchants give you more for used equipment. Familiar causes merchants to expand their inventories to include previously unavailable items.
