SSX

SSX

Before I Begin, The Background Music Is From Metroid, Not SSX (Good Old Nostalgia). This Game Is One Of The Best Games That I've Played For PS2 So Far. SSX Is A Snowboarding Game, And Even Though I'm Not Too Fond Of Snowboarding Games, I Loved This! The Controls, Track Designs, Sound, Graphics, And Gameplay Are All Top Notch. Let Me Start With The Graphics-Some Of The Best PS2 Graphics Of All Of The Launch Titles, The Animation, Characters, And Tracks All Have Great Graphics. Moving On To The Sound, Each Character Has Their Own Commentary, But A Few Of The Voices Weren't That Great, For The Most Part Though, The Characters Voices Were Very Good. The Music, Though Not My Favorite, Fits The Game Perfectly, And Actually Changes Depending On How Well You Play. Truelly Amazing. But Graphics And Sound Alone Don't Make A Game, You Still Need Control And Gameplay To Back It Up. This Game Has A Great Control Scheme, After You Get Used To It That Is. The Controls Will Probably Feel Awkward At First (Especially To Those Of You Who Are Used To A Tony Hawk's Style Control Scheme.) One Of The Hardest Things To Get Used To Is That Pressing Forward On The Control Pad (Or Analog Stick), Is Both The Button For Speeding Up And Doing A Forward Flip. During The First Few Minutes Of Playing This Game I Repeatedly Sped Up, Hit A Little Bump, Then Did A Flip And Landed On My Face, But You Get Used To It. Once You Do Get Used To The Controls, You'll Wonder How You've Ever Lived Without Them. Now As For The Gameplay, This Is Where The Game Truely Shines! All Of The Courses Have A Unique Feel, And All Of Them Have A Ton Of Different Ways To Go Down Them. Also, The Boost Meter Is A Great Invention. Boost Gives You Extra Speed, But You Have To Do Tricks To Get Boost. You Can't Just Race And Win, Nor Can You Do A Ton Of Tricks And Expect To Succeed, You Have To Find The Perfect Blend Of Racing And Tricks To Succeed, And For Each Character You'll Have To Use A Different Strategy. It All Blends Together Into A Great Game. If You Have A PS2, You Should Buy This Game (Even If You're Not A Fan Of Games Like This, You Should Still At Least Rent This.) Just Give Yourself A Little Time To Get Used To The Controls, And Soon You'll Be Going Down Those Slopes Like A Pro.
