What does that stand for again?
GTO (or "Great Teacher Onizuka") is an unusual but highly popular manga and anime in Japan. Now its popularity is seeping into the US years later.
GTO is the story of Onizuka Eikichi, a lecherous man with a delinquit past as leader of a feared motorcycle gang. But at age 22 (and still a virgin), he is determined to become the greatest teacher ever. Partly because of all the cute girls in school uniforms... partly for reasons of his own, and memories of his time in school.
GTO was written in a time when things were going downhill in Japan's schools: bullying, delinquicy, anti-teacher terroism, and other huge problems. GTO pointed out these problems to the public, at the same time creating a hilarious and oftentimes touching story of the man who teaches class with his own methods of justice and cirriculum.
GTO is a highly enjoyable story, and though I've only seen the anime, I'm sure the manga is just as great. I recommend this to anyone. Just beware of pervy guys.. ^_~
