That's right, magic knights. ^_^ Sound cool? Keep reading, it gets better.
Magic Knight Rayearth is the story of three girls who get pulled from Tokyo Tower into another world called Cephiro. They run into a short but enormously powerful man who calls himself Guru Clef and claims to be hundreds of years old. With his help they set out to become the legendary 'Magic Knights' that will save Cephiro and awaken the Spirits. Along the way they meet new people to aid them in their quest while constantly trying to outrun the evil priest Zagato's minions who will stop them at any price. But all is not as it seems...
In my opinion the manga is better mostly because I dislike the style used in the anime, though there are characters that are shown only in the anime. Still, it's an awesome series (be prepared for almost Sailor Moon sappiness between the girls sometimes, though) that I highly recommend, with a surprise ending. Do yourself a favor and grab a tape, or even better, the manga.
