OAV: (Kikoutei Densetsu)The Lengend of The Inferno Armor
The head warrior of the Tauragi, Mukala is also the latest member of his family to serve as the guardian of the Kuroi Kikoutei (Black Inferno Armor). Really, Mukala isn't a "bad guy". He is just the bearer of the Black Inferno, and the armor has possessed him in a way. The Black and White armors are polar opposites so to speak, and if they fight, the power they release will be so great it will end up in the destruction of the entire world. But the black armor wants to fight the white armor. That's the purpose of the armors, to fight, and fight alone (and the point the whole OAV is supposed to bring out that the armors are tools for war, and for battle. If the wearer doesn't control the armor throught their Virtue, the armor will control the wearer).
Mukala's personality in the entire OAV is pretty much controlled by the Black Inferno's blood-thirsty nature. He is almost completely silent during the OAV except for battle cries and when he calls on the armor. His love for his fiance, Nadia, is really the only thing that saves him. There's a point in the final battle between the Black and the White Armor where Nadia gets caught in a blast generated by the clash of the armors and Mukala thinks he's destroyed her. Ryo calls on the guys to use this moment to free Mukara's heart using their renewed power over the White inferno (at one point it had taken on a psuedo life of its own, like the Black Inferno, and was attacking the Ronins!). Despite his aloof cold manner, he really does care for Nadia.
So, to sum it all up. He really has no motivation because the armor's bloodlust is controlling him. And his reason for doing it all is because he let the armor take control of him. At first, Mukala really isn't forced into fighting by the armor, he just does it on his own because he thinks that's what he wants. But in the end, during the final battle, the black armor forcibly takes him over because he was starting to "see the light" so to speak. In that part, Mukala's eyes turn flat and lifeless, the usual Anime sign that a person is being controlled.
