"My Lords, we may
have found Zor's Battlefortress." The Origin of
Robotechnology...
Tirol's
primary industrial and economic development has revolved around the ability
to space-travel. For millennia the
Tiresian society have leveraged their technological superiority to colonize
and reign over a Federation of Planets, considering themselves to be the
center of the known Universe.
The primary occupation on their home Planet is devoted to processing
and refining the raw materials needed to support their race of
Techno-voyagers and their Gigantic Motherships capable of housing entire
cities within. Many
centuries ago one such voyager, a scientist by the name of Zor Derelda, made
a startling discovery while surveying the planet Optera. This swamp world was native to race
of seemingly immortal, aquatic creatures calling themselves the Invid. An indigenous plant known as the
'Flower of Life' possessed some unique chemical properties that Zor was able
to transform into a powerful energy source he dubbed 'Protoculture'. This
substance was capable of extending life beyond natural limitations and could
be harnessed to provide an almost limitless amount of energy, including the
theoretical process of folding space. Zor was
fanatic about the possibilities of his scientific discovery, and became
determined to develop Protoculture beyond the realm of Optera. Using his cunning and charisma, Zor
played upon the infatuation of the Inivd Regis with the Tiresian's ability to
fly, and manipulated her to reveal the Flower's secrets in exchange for a
promise to enable the Invid to travel beyond their planet. The Regis had even taken on a
humanoid form in an attempt to become more appealing to Zor.
Managing to
escape Optera with the fertile Flower, Zor's science began to shape the
future of his society. The
achievements of biological cloning and manipulation paired with near
instantaneous space-travel received great interest from the ruling political
council on Tirol. A group of
three brothers, identical triplets from a powerful family, leveraged their
position to create a society in their own image and began inoculating
themselves with Protoculture serum to extend them to unnatural long life. As their obsession for power grew, so
too did their cruelty and oppression as they created an army of genetically
engineered giants called Zentraedi to act as a police force to keep the local
systems in line. Their
oppression turned to genocide as the Zentraedi were dispatched to defoliate
the planet Optera of all plant life so that no other society could possess
this power. As
Protoculture continued to be exploited for the purposes of Dictatorship, Zor
became more discontent.
Determined to undermine the Elders and prevent his science from being
used for evil, Zor hid the only remaining fertile Flower of Life aboard a
newly constructed Battlefortress on the colony planet of Ci'Va. In an attempt to discourage
rebellion, the Elders sent a contingent of Zentraedi soldiers to Ci'Va to
maintain order and bring Zor under their control. As the
emotionless Zentraedi became exposed and accustomed to Ci'Vian society, their
self-awareness sparked resistance to following their Master's
directives. Several Zentraedi
defected and joined Zor on a quest to cultivate the Invid Flower of Life on a
star system free from the control of the Robotech Masters. Zor's renegade Battlefortess would become the focal point of two opposing forces, as the both the Robotech Masters and the Invid desperately sought to be the first to find and possess the Protoculture Factory hidden aboard Zor's ship. The escalation of this conflict would result in Zor's death and the disappearance of the Great ship. The whereabouts of Zor's Battlefortess and the source of the Protoculture would become the most predominant question in Robotech Masters' history. |
