Like a lot of anime, when being dubbed and aired on US TV, the title changed from "The Vision of Escaflowne", to just plain "Escaflowne". Perhaps this happens because some anime has crazy titles. Unfortunately, Escaflowne was butchered pretty bad when dubbed for airing in the US. Out of 26 episodes, only 13 were aired before it was canceled due to bad ratings. The episodes that were aired were cut considerably for violence. The way the episodes were cut was it's own downfall. It was too complicated for young children, and not exciting enough the older crowds, like teenagers or adults. Often scenes from the end of one episode were put into the beginning of the next episode. Each episode was very short, only about 15-20 minutes each.
