Here are the major characters in Kaleido Star. Many of the performers seem to come from all over the globe to perform on the Kaleido Stage.

Sora Naegino

Sora is the main character of the show. A 16-year-old girl from Japan, Sora came to the US to try out to perform at the Kaleido Stage. Sora is naive, but kind and very hard working. She saw Kaleido Stage when she was little with her parents. Her parents later died, and she was taken in buy her aunt and her husband. She looks up to Layla Hamilton and dreams of performing with her. Sora will usually stop at nothing to perform her best, but like everyone, can be stricken with doubts and worries. Her dream is to perform with others without competition and to become a star of the Kaleido Stage. She enjoys performing most when she can make the audience happy.

Layla Hamilton

Layla Hamilton was a star at Kaleido Stage. She is 17 and US born, and joined Kaleido Stage when she was 14. Layla is a fierce performer and is very popular among other performers because of her amazing skills. She can often come off as cold and uncaring when it comes to performing and she expects everyone to do their absolute best. She even stars in movies, and her father would rather have her be an actress than a circus performer. Towards the end of the first season her and Sora become close and get to perform together often, but Layla gets an injury that keeps her from performing at Kaleido Stage anymore, so she pursues ambition to perform on Broadway.

Kalos Eido

Kalos is originally from Brazil and was once a magician who performed with Sarah Dupont, but was injured and used his insurance claim money to open and run Kaleido Stage. He is a very strict boss and has high hopes for Sora. He also has tender feelings for his long time friend Sarah.

Ken Robbins

Ken is a soft-spoken 18-year-old US native who is stage manager at Kaleido Stage. He has dreams to perform, but can't due to a heart condition he has. He is one of Sora's friends and has a crush on her.

Mia Guillem

Mia is a 16-year-old from Holland who performs in small roles on stage, but her true passion is for writing shows and producing them. She also runs the Kaleido Stage website and is a close friend of Sora's.

Anna Heart

Anna is a US born 16-year-old whose passion is for comedy. She mostly performs small roles on stage, and is always trying to get Mia to incorporate more comedy bits into the shows. She gets her love of comedy from her father, who was once a popular comedian. She is also a close friend of Sora's.

Rosetta Passel

Rosetta is a younger girl from Belgium who came to the Kaleido Stage to perform her specialty, diablo. At first she is very serious about her performances, but when given the change to perform with Sora, opens up and has fun with it. She grows to admire Sora greatly and dreams of performing with her and learning the trapeze.

Sarah Dupont

Sarah is a 29-year-old from England who mostly performs as a singer on stage. She used to sing and perform with Kalos and a man named _ who played guitar. When Kalos opened Kaleido Stage, she followed to help him out and perform. She is the dorm supervisor at the Kaleido Stage and is in love with Kalos. She enjoys practicing martial arts.

Yuri Killian

Yuri is an 18-year-old Russian boy who is a star at the Kaleido Stage and often Layla's performing partner. He hates Kalos because he feels that he killed his father, a former member of the Kaleido Stage, Arlan Brass, by forcing him to do the legendary great maneuver which led to his accidental death during a rehearsal. In truth his father insisted upon doing the stunt, but to get revenge Yuri decides to buy out Kaleido Stage and run it himself. Eventually he gave up the idea and went to study abroad in France. He joins the Kaleido Stage again in season 2. Yuri can be a scary and fierce guy, similar to Layla, but often shows his kinder side to Sora.

Marion

Marion is the daughter of a former Kaleido Stage performer name Cynthia and a set designer for the stage named Jean. Her mother's specialty was the trampoline, but she died in an accident while performing. At first we see Marion as a bratty girl, but she becomes friendlier when she gets to know Sora and the others better. She loves playing the with the seal, Jonathan and even performs water shows with him. She enjoys the trampoline, but is afraid of hurting her father if she were to ever get hurt like her mother did.

The Fool

The Fool is "the spirit of the stage". He reads tarot cards and crystal balls to make predictions of things to come and says only those who have the potential to become "true Kaleido stars" can see him. He is often with Sora and at one point Layla begins to see him. He offers Sora advice and support and tries to peek at her naked whenever the chance comes up.

Second Season New Characters

Leon

Leon is a trapeze performer from France and is nicknamed the "God of Death". He has driven off every partner he ever had because only his first partner, his younger sister Sophie, was the only one capable of being his partner, or at least thats how he sees it. He comes to Kaleido Stage in the second season and usually plays lead roles, where Sora and May compete to be his partner. He is cold and cruel, but an excellent performer.

May Wong

May is a fiery girl who comes from China to perform at Kaleido Stage. She has a strong drive to become a star and therefore is Sora's rival and gives everyone a hard time. Many see her as an obnoxious snob, but she actually is a good performer and lives for competition with others.
