Loveless: Friends Character Descriptions
Yuiko Hawatari
Yukio is a kindhearted classmate of Ritsuka's, who is also quite an airhead. When she first met Ritsuka, she thought he was cool and tried to be his friend. Even though Ritsuka would try to blow her off, her persistence and kindness eventually won him over. She cares for Ritsuka very much and worries for him if he ever misses school. She tries hard to be a good friend of his, but feels he's still hard to get close to.
Hitomi Shinonome
Shinonome is Ritsuka's homeroom teacher, and is a very gentle and kind woman. She is 23 and still has her ears, which invites some teasing. She is concerned for Ritsuka, knowing his troubled past and his distant attitude in school.
Misaki Aoyagi
Misaki is Ritsuka's mother. She is mentally disturbed in that she constantly hounds Ritsuka and asks where the "old" Ritsuka went, who she believes disappeared when he was 10. She wants more than anything for Seimei to come home, but in the meantime has trouble dealing with Ritsuka. She frequently abuses him and hurts him, but sometimes treats him as a treasured son. She's very unstable and unpredictable.
Kio Kaido
Kio is Soubi's best friend and classmate. He looks out for Soubi by bringing him food offering his company. He seems to be possessive of Soubi, and hated the way that Seimei treated him. Kio is disheartened to find that now that Seimei is out of Soubi's life, he's moved onto Seimei's younger brother Ritsuka. He knows when something is troubling Soubi, but can't always help him out. He just stays close to Soubi and is his loyal friend.
Yayoi
Yayoi is another classmate of Ritsuka's, but is one of Yuiko's friends. He has a crush on Yuiko and once asked her out, but this startled Yuiko and she said no. When Yayoi sees how fond of Ritsuka Yuiko is, he becomes jealous and picks on Ritsuka, but eventually becomes one of his friends. Yayoi is a bit of a fragile person and is prone to sickness.
Katsuko
Katsuko is the therapist Ritsuka sees once a week. She is friendly and sincerely interested in Ritsuka. She tries to support him in telling him that he doesn't need to worry about what his mother thinks of him, but it doesn't seem to get through to him. She feels badly for Ritsuka, knowing that his mother abuses him, but is advised by her colleges not to get involved.
Chiyako
Chiyako is an older woman who is actually hiding Seimei at her home. She knows Seimei is on the run from 6 of his colleagues, and allows him to stay with her. She provides all his meals and basic needs.
Nakahira
Nakahira lives with Chiyako and is suspicious of Seimei. He has a feeling that Seimei is up to no good and wonders why Chiyako doesn't see that. Nakahira is a little hostile towards Seimei, but generally has a passive way of treating people.
