Bride of Deimos
- Akuma no Hanayome -

"The moment when humans lose control of their own emotions is when I win the game."
- Deimos

Story Summary
Minako is a bright young girl with a normal life until the devil named Deimos comes into it. He's come to Earth from Hades to find a body for his rotting lover trapped in Hades, his sister Venus, and Minako is perfect for the part. Soon enough Deimos seems to be more interested in Minako the human rather than Minako the vessel for his love Venus. The series is made up of short stories mostly involving Minako and the people she meets. Most everyone she meets faces a tragic fate because Deimos gets involved. Jealousy, greed, rage, and madness are common themes for these tragic and violent stories.

My Opinion
Bride of Deimos is a lot of fun. It's one of the oldest manga I've read, being from the 70's and 80's, but I love what I've always assumed is the old fashioned shojo art style. The stories are so ridiculous and ugly, they're often times laughable to me. Deimos seems to shock Minako over and over with his cruelty, she is often left in tears. It seems like many of the stories are classic stories or maybe variations of old Japanese folktales or ghost stories. Very enjoyable stories, but they can get repetitive and reading too many at once can get me feeling down on humanity.
