Hikaru is very cheerful and optimistic. She is short and is sometimes mistaken for younger then she is. She lives at a kendo house she helps run with her mom, dad, and three older brothers. Because she grew up in a kendo house, she knows how to use a sword. Hikaru is kind and sometimes her kindness makes her gullible and too trusting of strangers. She never gives up hope and is willing to sacrifice herself for her friends. As a Magic Knight, Hikaru was given the power of fire magic. Persea made her a special sword out of escudo and if anyone (besides herself) picks it up, it bursts into flames. Her rune god is Rayearth.
In Season 2
Hikaru had always wanted to return to Cephiro after what had happened to Princess Emeruade. Now she gets her wish and returns to find Cephiro crumbling. She faces new challenges now; having to ward off opponents wanting to take over Cephiro, facing a the materialization of the darker part of her soul, falling in love with Zagato's younger brother Lantis, and being a candidate as the next Pilar of Cephiro. She also gets to know the invaders from Autozam, Eagle Vision and his crew.
Umi Ryuuzaki
Umi attends a school for rich girls back in Tokyo. She lives with her mom and dad. Umi is tall and beautiful and can seem somewhat of a snob. She is good at fencing and competes in tournaments. She is a bit ditzy and becomes angry when someone gives her a reality check (like when Hikaru and Fuu tell her that they have to become Magic Knights before returning to Tokyo). Umi is the most homesick, and it shows. She is always saying she wants to return to Tokyo. She often becomes frustrated with Mokona and argues with him/her (?) a lot. As a Magic Knight, Umi was given the power of water magic. Her sword made of escudo will turn to liquid if anyone but her tried to use it. Her rune god is Selece.
In Season 2
Umi also wanted to return to Cephiro to help out. She helps Hikaru out with her new responsiblities, and becomes close with the invaders from Chizeta, Tarta and Tatra. Umi soon realizes that she has feelings for Clef, but also finds that Ascot has feelings for her.
Fuu Hououji
Fuu is a calm person. She lives with her mom, dad, and older sister. She seems depressed and sometimes has a morbid since of humor. She has a tendency to state the obvious. She is on the archery team at her school. She is very respectful when addressing and talking to others. She has captured Ferio’s heart and she also has feelings for him. As a Magic Knight, Fuu was given the power of wind magic. Fuu's sword of escudo will become too heavy to lift if anyone but her tries to use it. Her rune god is Windam.
In Season 2
Of course Fuu wanted to return to Cephiro also. She helps fight off enemies with Hikaru and Umi and spends time with the invaders from Fahren, Princess Aska and her followers. She also spends some time with Ferio, rekindling their feelings for each other.
