Pocket Monster

Vassara Inugami's Opinion

I think that this series is pretty good, but when you see all the hype it caused and you actually see the series you will understand that definitely it's a series for small children. The drawings are good, it's very colorful, and the animation is fluid. The Pokemon fights are pretty boring, but I understand that it's a series for small children and they should be simple.

There's definitively a lot of time and imagination in the show, you can see that the creators have dedicated a lot of attention in the making of the series. After all, creating a new world with 150 of those critters isn't that easy and even though they had enough time to think of 100 more of those Pokemon. They definitely are a phenomenon.

The drawings are good and colorful which is something I like from the series. The drawings are just good, they can be simple, but I like them. The part I don't like is that the animation is repeated, after some time I got tired of watching the same Pokemon running over a red and yellow background.

About the characters, they are pretty good. The part I like the most about the series, is the balance between good and evil, I think that the audience the series is oriented for understand perfectly that even is you loose against your opponent, you shouldn't be angry, I mean, there will be another chance. In this way I applaud Pokemon.

As a kid oriented series I would suggest you to watch it, but if you are looking for a good anime series for another audience which is not kids go watch any other series, you will probably like them a lot more.

I give it a 6, but if you're a kid, you will think it deserves at least an 8.

FBM's opinion

What can I say? the card game was fun to play, but the anime series kind of sucked.

The story is just about a boy named Ash and his friends who travel around the world trying to catch all the Pocket Monsters and become the greatest Pokemon master. The story changes a lot as the time passes and you will see new characters, new evil guys, new Pokemon and different opponents. But the drama is still the same.

Well, the drawings are very colorful and they are great!!!!!!... if you're a 5 year old boy. The drawings look more like cartoon than they do to anime. In most cases they even repeat the same portions of animation. But Pikachu is somehow cute. You could expect a lot more from an anime series.

If you pay attention to the conversations, you will see that in each episode they say exactly the same, but in a different order. Of 150 Pokemon, there are only about 3 that can say something that's not their name. Once I heard PIKA PIKA about 500 times I was going crazy.

This series is the same over and over and in top of that, there's no action! But I give the creators a lot of credit for creating a world wide phenomenon, and been able to make two movies and they are still selling merchandise and making lots of money.

The series started strong but now, it's on rock bottom, so I give it a 4.
