Street Fighter the Animated Movie

I hate to admit it, but it is a good movie. The only thing that makes me dislike it, is that it was not what they told me it was going to be. Ok, it has great fights, and the way they use the special moves is great, but definitively I expected a lot more.

The drawings are good, specially Blanka let me mouth opened, but Ryu, the strongest Street Fighter in the World, looks like a baby. I think they could have improved a lot more.

The animation is very fluid and the story is very good. Definitively it's a lot better than the live action movie. all the characters has their own personality and that's something great. But, there are characters that are in the movie for about five seconds and that's all the part they take in the movie.

The fights is the part I liked the most. The way they use the special moves make the fights feel as if it was a real Street Fighter 2 fight. They have a reason to pull each move, they even have combos that I remember watching in the game.

As last words, and the part I think I'll hate the most is having to give 7.5 points just because it was not what I thought it would be. Maybe if they told me that it was a good movie, rather than a great movie, I would give it an 8 or a 9.

Shadow's Opinion

First of all, YES, it is a lot better than the real life action movie. Having said that, let's just add that for all of you Street Fighter lovers, this is the movie you have too see. The characters are true to the game. The moves that are used in the movie are the same they use in the game, and they even use some combos just like in the game. The fight sequences are excellent (I actually felt pain just watching them), and the drawings are pretty impressive.

If you have never even heard of the game, one: you really suck, two: you will like the movie just for the drawings and the fight sequences even if you don't know the game. But if you are looking for a good storyline, rather than fights and drawings, choose another one. The storyline is crappy, but no anime is perfect, you know. 

I would give it a 7 because of the poor storyline, but the drawings are too good and I like to see pain in my anime, so I will give this one an 8 . (Besides, Street Fighter is about fights not storyline)
