Goodbye, Bear and Tuffy...

Bear

Bear, my 11 yr old, had to be enthanized June 4, 2001. He was suffering from congestive heart failure, was collapsing repeatedly, and could not do the things he loved so much to do; ie: chase a tennis ball, frisbee, or stick, and run and go for walks. I am still grieving.....but I know I made a decision that was right for him. He was one very special dog, and he had a SOUL; I know this, because I could see it so easily in his big, beautiful brown eyes. He asked me, in no uncertain terms, on Sunday, June 3, to "please let me go, Mom."

He is missed.

Tuffy

My beloved Tuffy (otherwise known as Little Sir Tuff Stuff) passed away peacefully in my arms at the age of 13 on the morning of Thursday, September 27, 2001. I feel quite sure that he and Bear are having a joyous reunion, since they were lifelong buddies, and that Tuffy is licking Bear's face and saying "I sure have missed you since you've been gone, my dear friend." Tuffy was only five weeks old when I brought him home in the palm of my hand. In his thirteen years with me, he gave me many, many hours of amusement and laughs, nonjudgemental devotion and love, and a loyalty and companionship that no human could ever hope to provide.

He is missed.
