*BASH!*

Yes, this is my bashing section. My shrink says the best way to release my anger is to write about things I don't like or things that seem funny to me. Also, he says that I'm no longer allowed to use my Subspace Graviton Omega Decimating Mallet O' Doom™ anymore. ;_;

09/07/03 - Hooray for Cosplay!

Cosplay. The chance for you to portray your favorites character(s). Mainly takes place at anime conventions, but there are a few of us who like to wear them out at other places. And some like wearing them to bed as pajamas or kinky attire for a romantic role playing session. Either way, it is what we love.

But some people make things complicated. You have your elite cosplayers, who have done so many, they believe they are perfect and have the right to pick out every little flaw in someone else's costume. Also, you have the people who NEVER cosplay, yet. So, this is your first costume? The best effort you could muster? Doesn't matter. They pick out ALL the details.

"Socks are the wrong color."

"A hair's out of place."

"You're not busty enough."

"You're skin's a tone too dark."

Annoying, huh? Yeah, thought so. Okay, it is strange that people would go that far over something that is supposed to be done for fun. I mean, who's running a beauty/bishonen contest? So what if I'm not a living embodiment of an anime character? So what if I'm not as tall as the REAL Wolfwood? Also, since I made the costume, did it ever dawn on you that I'm fully aware of the flaws? 30 Jackass points for you.

Now, the positive side. You meet tons of nice and cool people when you cosplay at conventions. And depending on how good your costume is, you'll be posing for pictures all day. I had that experience at Otakon 2003. I went as a New-Age Wolfwood. I looked like Nicholas D. Wolfwood dipped in chocolate and processed through the Matrix.

See Pic Here. I'm in the middle.

I met plenty of cool people during that time, though. Although, I practically FRIED in that long coat, but it was cool. My two buddies and I held an anime sermon at the convention two days in a row. Actually, we're gonna try to keep up with that tradition at Otakon, so if you ever show up for Otakon 2004, get ready!

In closing, cosplay is fun and very awarding if you get the results you want. If not, at least you tried. Either way, hard work comes out well. And that's all there is to it. Until next time, keep on cosplayin'!
