Session #28: Procession of Shattered Spirits
Once again, the Bebop crew were suffering
from being completely broke. Spike had a huge hangover from the night before
and was also starving. Faye sat on the sofa, filing her nails, looking so
bored that watching grass grow would count for decent entertainment. Jet
sat on the opposite side of the table, across from Faye with his arms folded.
He contemplated about which bounty head to go after. There were only two
of them, but they both were worth the same amount. 20 million each. The leaders
of two rival drug syndicates. It was obvious that neither job was safer to
do than the other. Both involved the same amount of danger. Jet though hard
about this.
If a leader of a drug syndicate has
a price on his head, it most likely would be about inside politics. Just
like Mao Yenrai. He looked back at the screen with the mug shots of the two
syndicate leaders. One of them had dark gray hair and a black eye patch over
his eye. His name was Furious Sentiel. The other was a mug shot of a younger
man with light blue hair. He had dark brown eyes, but he looked more innocent
than your average criminal. Jet didn't think someone as young as he looked
could be a drug lord.
The name under that picture read:
Jake Smith.
Trent walked in through the ship's
door carrying 3 bags full of groceries. He stumbled around, trying not to
trip and fall as he made his way down the steps. He walked over to a nearby
table and placed the bags down on it. He sighed in relief, "Whew! Those bags
are heavy. Hey, what's up, people?"
Everyone was silent, ignoring
him for the most part. Jet looked up from his computer screen, saw Trent
and went back to his work. Spike's hangover was so bad that he really didn't
pay attention to anything. Faye continued her nail filing.
Trent sighed, "I've got food."
Before Trent new it, he was being
stampeded by Spike and Faye as they completely bum rushed him and dug their
way through the grocery bags. Faye was content when she found some microwavable
dinners and Spike ran off into the kitchen with the egg carton. Jet, playing
it cool, stood up and walked over to what was left of the grocery bags. He
extracted the vegetables and the 4 pounds of beef. "Finally. I get to make
bell peppers and beef WITH the beef!" Everyone proceeded to the kitchen with
their food of choice.
Trent stood there with an annoyed
expression on his face, "You're so welcome...." He shrugged his shoulders
and muttered, "Ingrates." Walking over into the living room area of the Bebop
and saw what was on the screen of Jet's computer. His eyes widened in horror
from what he saw. "Jake Smith?! HOLY SHIT!"
Faye wandered in and asked, "What's
with all the yelling? Did you break something again?"
The look on Trent's face told
Faye that something major was going on. She was about to ask, but he ran
out the door yelling, "I gotta go! DON'T follow me!" Faye watched as he ran
out, realizing how much her and Trent have in common. Spike came in, crisp
and sober, looking around the room, he turned to Faye with a raised eyebrow,
"Where's the kid?"
Faye snapped back, "How the hell
should I know?!"
"He's YOUR brother," Spike replied.
Faye sneered, "FYI, he's
not my brother! I don't even have any family, so just mind your own business!"
Spike shrugged, "Whatever."
-------------------------
Meanwhile, two tall men
in black business suits and dark sunglasses surround a young man with light
blue hair, brown eyes and blue, denim pants and jacket. under the jacket,
he had on a white t-shirt. He was backed into a corner as the two men stepped
closer.
"Please, don't kill me!
I just wanted to live an honest life, that's all!"
He was cut of by the
sound of a gun clicking. Before he knew it, he was staring down the barrel
of a silver .45, still begging for his life. Suddenly, a black, two seated
craft swooped down, knocking down the young guy and the two men in suits.
From the craft, a net was shot out, landing on the suited men, leaving the
guy with the blue hair unharmed. The ship landed nearby and Trent stepped
out. He ran over to the scene, "Jake!"
Jake had a surprised look on his face, "Trent!"
Trent shouted, "C'mon, get in!"
Jake quickly complied and hoped into the second
seat of Trent's craft. They immediately took off from the scene, leaving
the two syndicate workers scrambling to their vehicle, which was a black
Sentinel with tinted windows. Trent sighed with relief, "Man, that was close!
A minute sooner and you would've been short by one head."
Jake still had a wide eyed look on his face, "But,
I thought they killed you, man! Where the hell were you all this time?!"
Jake awaited the answer with anything but patience, "Well?"
Trent shook his head, "Remember when I told you about
her? I had to find her, no matter what. And I did. In fact, I was with her
before I came to get you. we're going to see a friend of mind, so could you
do me a favor and tell me what the hell's going on? Why's everyone trying
to kill you."
Jake sighed and shook his head, "It ain't really somethin' I
can up and tell ya. It's hard for me to say, especially to you, man. But
the truth is that you're-"
Gunshots rung out as two fighter crafts began their pursuit.
Trent gritted his teeth as he tightened his grip on the control stick.
"Hold on, Jake. We're gonna be experencin' some
turbulence!"
Just then, Trent's craft flew off, doing cork screw spins,
evading the oncoming bullets fired from the two syndicate fighters. Trent
smirked as he hit a blue button on the control stick. Jake raised an eyebrow
as he realized that Trent seemed to be having fun. Through evasive action,
Trent looped around, behind on of the fighters and fired at it with a barrage
of bullets. The fighter tried to evade, but through the effort, lost a left
wing and plummeted toward the ground in circles, landing with an explosion.
Jake exclaimed, "Damn, you've gotten better since the
last time I saw ya, man!"
Trent scoffed, "If you think that's somethin', watch how
I get this next guy!" He narrowed his eyes and pulled up, flying straight
up, toward the zenith of the atmosphere sky. The fighter followed with constant
fire of machine gun bullets, but soon began to lock on with missiles. Inside
Trent's ship, a warning signal went off on the screen. Trent yelled out,
"Oh, shit! They're lockin' on to us! Hold on!"
Jake held on to his seat and gritted his teeth, "Trent,
what the hell are you plannin'?!"
Trent did another cork screw spin and dove downward and
to the far left, away from the cross hair of the missile lock. Trent shouted,
"Time to use my trump card! Game over, dude!" He pressed a red button on
the panel in front of him, causing a laser rifle to emerge from the front
of the ship, beneath the nose. Trent spun the ship around, toward the fighter
and fired the laser cannon. The fighter dodged, but the laser beam blew up
at 10 feet away from the ship, sending it off course. At that point, Trent
came in, firing a barrage of missiles, taking the fighter out completely.
----------------------------
"If you're so worried about him, why don't you go look for him?"
Spike asked.
Faye frowned, "And who said I was worried?!"
Spike replied, "Nobody. But it's blatantly obvious to tell."
Faye smirked, "Yeah? And how's that?"
Spike pointed at the table, "One, you're cleaning the table.
Two, you've been cleaning that same spot for the past 20 minutes." Spike
then smirked as he walked out of the room.
Faye cursed under her breath and groaned. She then proceeded
to casually walk out the door to the deck. As she got to her zip craft, she
sighed and said, "Men are nothing but trouble...." With that said, her zip
craft took off into the sky.
Meanwhile, Spike sat on the toilet, reading a newspaper, puffing away on
a cigarette.
"Furious Sentiel...."
He took another puff as he thought more about this all too familiar
name and the connections that could made to it. Spike had a sudden feeling
of foreboding similar to the ones he would have before a life threatening
situation. He thought about things and realized once again how afraid of
death he was. He puffed his cigarette once last time, finishing it. Spike
balled up the news paper and carelessly tossed it across the bathroom as
he reached under the sink and grabbed a can of Lysol. He sprayed for about
2 minutes straight, than prepared to leave.
Jet came out of the kitchen and headed for the bathroom just
as Spike was coming out. As the two partners crossed paths in the corridor,
Spike said, "I wouldn't go in there if I were you."
Jet seemed like he was ignoring Spike until he added, "I ate a combo
meal from Mickey D's, ya know..."
Jet made a U-turn and headed right back to the kitchen.
A few minutes later, Spike and Jet were in the kitchen, devising
a plan for catching the bounty. "Jake Smith, wanted for the murder of several
people. Apparently, there was a big job pulled at a science lab and the bodies
of several security guards were found on the scene. But, the strange part
is that the people murdered weren't guards at all. They were decoys."
Spike asked, "What about the other guy? What's he wanted for?"
Jet replied, "Furious Sentiel, head of the Black Hawk Syndicate.
The master mind behind all the jobs pulled at science labs for the past.
There's been rumors about the Red Dragon and Black Hawk Syndicates teaming
up, but there are no real leads to it being true. This whole thing smells
fishy. Two members of cooperating crime syndicates have bounties placed on
their heads in the same day.
"Then, there's only one solution," said Spike, "They both did
something that both syndicates didn't like. Now they want to get rid of them.
It's all politics. They're still gonna try to kill 'em, but putting a bounty
on their heads makes it a hell of a lot easier to find 'em."
Jet groaned, "That doesn't matter, we need the money and their
offering a hell of a lot for these two."
-------------------------
"Vicious. I apologize for being late. I promise I'll be prompt
the next time you call for me, sir."
Vicious looked at her with no emotion at all. The bird on his
shoulder gave the young woman the same look. He spoke with a stern and deadly
tone, "Make sure it doesn't happen again. Also, tell V2 to do his job instead
of you."
The woman looked at Vicious with a surprised look on her face,
"I-I don't know what you mean..."
Vicious narrowed his eyes at her and said, "This is your first
and last warning, Melissa. You're beginning to show me your uselessness.
Just like Jake and Furious. I doubt you or V2 want to be in their position.
I want you and him to find Trent Valentine. I know if you find him, Spike
won't be too far behind. Now go."
Melissa bowed, "Yes, sir." She quickly exited, relieved that
Vicious actually gave her a chance to make up for her screw up. She went
off to another floor of the building to find V2 and inform him of the task
at hand. That wasn't only her partner, but obviously her lover. As long as
she continued to be by his side, nothing else mattered to her.
Everything she's ever done was so that she could be with him.
She even tricked men into thinking that she loved them just to set them up,
all to stay with V2. Melissa was a dangerous woman to deal with and was not
to be taken lightly. She could change her personality in a split second.
One moment, the girl next door, the next moment, the instrument of your demise.
Many have fallen into her traps, few have made it out, and some are still
being lead on. This was the poison known as Melissa Briden, The Queen of
Deception.
She found V2 in his craft, looking at a radar, which was beeping
constantly. She looked over at his control panel and at the radar. She looked
at him with an inquiring expression, "Is that what I think it is?"
V2 nodded, "Yeah, it is. And soon, it'll be all taken care of."
Melissa smiled evilly, then looked to her lover with a wink, "How about a
quick celebration?"
His reply was with a sly smirk, "I'm sure I can spare a couple minutes."
They both hopped into the craft and shut the hatch. They were immediately
all over each other, going to war using kisses, caressing and stripping as
their weapons of choice. Muffled moaning could be heard from outside the
ship, but there was no one close enough to hear. V2 hit a button on the ship
which tinted all the windows. The only clue they told of their act was the
slight rocking of the ship.
------------------------------
INTERMISSION
------------------------------
Trent's craft was parked in a large hangar
outside of the town. Inside, he, Jake and another young woman are talking.
They were laughing and joking around as if they were long time friends. Mainly
because they were.
"That's mean, Andrea," said Trent, "I just came by for a visit and nothing
else. Honest!"
The girl recognized as Andrea pushed her glasses
further onto her face with an eyebrow of suspicion raised. She had on a red
t-shirt with over-alls on and tan boots. She dressed boyish, but one could
still see how beautiful she actually was either way. She shook her head and
said, "Trent, you're a horrible liar. I heard about Jake and it's all over
the news. You're safe here, but it might take a while for this thing to blow
over."
Jake sighed, "All I wanted was to live a normal,
legit life and this is how they honor my request. Sucks, huh?"
Andrea shook her head and places her hands on her hips,
"Why did you two ever get involved with them in the first place? I mean,
didn't it dawn on you that they were trouble?"
Jake shrugged, "Yeah, but I had nowhere else to go, so I joined
up. What about you, Trent? How'd you get in the mix with 'em?"
Trent's eyes roamed around the room, then back to Jake and Andrea,
"Huh? You say somethin'?"
Jake sighed, "How come you do that every time I ask about your history
with the Red Dragon?"
Trent faked a smile, "There's nothing to tell, I joined, they tried
to kill me, I left. End of story. But, anyway, we gotta find away to get
you off of Mars before they find you. If there's a craft around her we could
use, it'll be easy to do."
Andrea walked over to a craft which looked as old as Spike's
Swordfish, but it was sky blue. It had the same design and no weapons equipped.
She gave them the basic info, "I call it the Dagger. It may be old, but it's
fairly fast. It has average handling, but it's not really made for dogfight
combat, so you'll just have to keep a low profile with it. Since it's sky
blue, you shouldn't have too much trouble getting outta here quickly.
Jake smirked, "Great. Ya know, I've always wanted to go to Venus.
Now I'll finally see it for myself."
------------------------
Meanwhile, at a spaceport station, Furious Sentiel, a middle
aged man in a black suit walks into a bathroom. As he turned on the water
at the sink, he felt steel pressed up against the back of his head, followed
by a clicking sound. He looked up at the mirror to see a man with fuzzy,
green hair, a blue leisure suit. Spike frowned, "Now tell me. Where's Vicious?"
Furious gritted his teeth in fear, "I-I don't know! Look, they're
gonna kill me! You've gotta help me!"
Spike groaned, "Look, tell me what I wanna know and I'll consider it. Depending
on if you lie or not."
Furious begged, "Okay! He's the current leader of the Red Dragon now,
he's looking for you and some other younger guy.
He's probably at the complex right now. All I want is to get the hell off
of Mars and-"
The sound of an automatic hand gun filed the room. Spike
grabbed Furious and dove into a bathroom stall. He drew his gun
and peek around the corner of the stall to see it was another syndicate agent.
He whipped his arm around the corner and let off
5 shots. The sounds of gurgling could be heard, followed by a thud. Spike
peeked around the corner again to see the gun man
had 4 bullets in the chest and one in the throat.
Furious peeked out right after and said, "So will you help me?"
Spike nodded genuinely.
---------------------------------
Faye sighed as she walked the streets, searching
for clues. "Where the hell could he be hiding?" She sat down on a stoop,
taking a good look around. "My source said he'd be around this area....don't
tell me I'm on another wild goose chase." She took out a mug shot picture
of Jake Smith and examined it. She looked around in a failing attempt to
match the face with one of the people walking by.
"Excuse me. Are you looking for someone?"
Faye turned to her right to see a woman with long, blue
hair who looked like she was in her late teens, early twenties. Faye gave
her a strange look and stayed on guard, ready to draw he pistol at anytime.
She nodded, "Do you know someone by the name of Jake Smith?"
The young woman nodded, "Yes, I do. I was just on my way to
see him. I could give you a lift, I have a craft parked a few blocks from
here."
Faye smiled politely, "Thanks, but I could just follow you with
my zip craft."
The woman giggled a little, "Don't worry, there's no reason
to distrust me. I would never betray a fellow female. It goes against who
I am. I bet your zip craft is parked a long way from here anyway, right?
Oh, by the way. My name is Melissa Briden."
Faye shook Melissa's hand with a suspicious feeling in her gut,
"Faye Valentine."
The two young women made their way to Melissa's craft. It was
a short 5 minute walk and took no time at all. The craft that Melissa lead
Faye to was the size of Jet's Hammerhead and had a four seats inside. Melissa
smiled and said, "Here it is. I call it that Viper Hawk."
Faye looked at the ship with some impression, "Nice ship."
Melissa smiled, "After you, Ms. Valentine."
Faye walked ahead to bored the ship, but she kept her
hand near her gun. Faye's gut was proven right when she heard the sound of
a gun click. She spun around with her gun drawn, aimed at Melissa's head.
Melissa also had her gun aimed right between Faye's eyes.
"I had a feeling you were up to no good, " said Faye with a smirk.
Melissa smirked, "Even so, it looks like you still crapped out,
Lady Luck."
Suddenly, Faye felt a massive karate chop slam onto her right
shoulder, knocking her onto the ground. Her consciousness was slipping away
slowly. The last thing she saw before blacking out completely was someone
who looked like Trent, except he had a straight line scar on his right cheek.
V2 scoffed, "Faye Valentine. Too nosy for your own good.
Melissa, string this broad up and put her in the back seat. Empty her gun,
too."
Melissa quickly complied, wasting no time at all. "Now
since we know that he and Jake are at the same place, everything is set.
She'll make for a great bargaining chip. Lady Luck is now reduced to a simple
chip chick. Ironic, huh?" She grabbed Faye's shoulder and pulled her over
to the ship, then placed her inside. V2 grabbed Melissa by the waste and
together they kissed passionately. Before they were convinced to go further,
they both broke this kiss to complete their mission.
----------------------------------
"Genetic cloning?"
Furious nodded, "That's right, Spiegel. The Red
Dragon and Black Hawk Syndicates collaborated for this project. This was
in order to keep strong numbers and prevent other syndicates from taking
over. It was my idea, but they carried it too far. They used my daughter,
Melany, as an experiment without me knowing. She died because of it. But,
they continued to use her body for their experiments. When the testing was
done, she wasn't herself. Sure, she was alive and well, but she had no memory
of her life, and had physical attributes that are slightly higher than normal
people's."
Spike raised an eyebrow, "You're telling me that all this
is over some cloning experiment? Gimme a break." Spike didn't want to believe
it, mostly because it reminded him of a really bad movie. Spike rubbed his
temples and groaned, "Look. All I want is to find Vicious."
Furious sighed in an irritated manner, "This is ABOUT
Vicious! He had a few clones made with his own preferences. One of them is
a clone of my daughter. The other, I don't know. The only thing about the
clones are that some have the memories of whom they were cloned from. Others
develop their own personalities."
Spike sighed, "Not my problem. Anyway, I'll take you to
the ISSP station where you're safe. I'll get my money and everybody's happy."
Furious shook his head, "They have people everywhere now
within the legal system. I know I'm gonna die soon. I need to tell you that
each clone has a ba-"
Suddenly, a gunshot rang out from the distance and Spike's
face was splattered with Furious' blood. Spike jumped behind one of the rows
of chairs for cover. He drew his gun an loaded a clip. Taking a deep breath,
he popped up from behind the chair and opened fired on the gunman who wore
a long black trench coat. The bullet hit the man in the ribs, causing him
to drop into a pool of his own blood.
Spike looked around at the people who were watching, then
decided to find Jet and get out of that airport as fast as he could.
-------------------------------
"Well, I guess I'll be seein' you two around," said Jake as he prepared
to board the space craft. He was totally at ease, knowing that he would soon
escape the syndicate for at least a little bit longer. I was honestly a temporary
solution since he still had that bounty on his head. This dawned on Trent
for a while, but now it irritated him to that point that he had to ask.
"Hey Jake."
"Yeah?"
"What exactly will you do on Venus?"
"Maybe lay low in the countryside somewhere until the bounty
cancels out, I guess.. Don't worry, I don't plan on dying anytime soon, if
that's what you're worried about."
Andrea came out of her corner of silence and said, "You
just better watch your butt. I wanna come and visit you on Venus sometime.
Just be careful, hon. Okay?"
Jake gave her a thumbs up, "Solid."
Just as he was boarding, there was a knock on the
door. Trent narrowed his eyes and turned to Jake, "Hurry up and get outta
here. That might be them." Trent drew his gun as Andrea went to a workshop
table and took a shotgun which was holstered underneath it. Trent slowly
walk to the door, ready to shoot anything that poses a threat. He reached
for the knob slowly as Andrea bit her lip, aiming the shotgun at the door.
Trent opened the door and stared at the person with wide eyes.
"It can't be you....I thought....I thought...!!!"
Melissa smiled, "I was dead? I know, but after what happened,
I had to go for a while. I didn't meant to mislead you. I just couldn't take
that lifestyle anymore. I loved you so much that it hurt seeing you. Knowing
that any job could've been you last."
Andrea sighed in relief as it seemed like there was no
threat. She lowered he shotgun, but didn't want to listen in or watch. She
went back to her workshop table and fiddled with her tools.
"But, why are you here and how'd you find me?" Trent asked.
Melissa replied, "I've been keeping a watch on you so
I wouldn't lose you again. I'm here because they have a bounty on your friend
and I know of someone that can clear the record and cancel the reward. His
one of the top heads at the ISSP. He's right outside. Let me introduce him
to you."
Trent nodded, "Sure, lead the way."
Andrea frowned as she heard the conversation, "Something's
not right," she thought, "This is a bit too convenient to be true." She went
over to the Dagger where Jake was seated, "Jake, I gotta a bad feeling. I
think you should hurry up and split."
Jake smirked, "Well, how about a good-bye kiss, then?"
Andrea groaned, "Jake, now's not the time to be joking
around! Get goin'!"
Jake smiled, "That's cold, girl. But, I'll see ya when
you visit Venus. I'll be waitin' for ya." He started up the ship as Andrea
prepared to open the skylight hangar door.
Meanwhile, Trent and Melissa were walking toward her ship,
discussing old times. Trent was completely at ease, relief and total bliss.
The woman he loved was back in his life. He didn't care about the whys and
how's. All that mattered was that she was with him again. Melissa and Trent
came to her craft. She smiled at him and said, "He's in the back seat. Go
ahead and talk to him."
Trent nodded and gave here a smile before sticking
his head inside and looking in the back seat. His eyes shot open wide when
he saw there was no one but the bonded and gagged Faye in the back seat,
letting out muffled screams. Trent suddenly felt cold steal press against
the back of his head.
"God, you're gullible," said Melissa, "But, I guess your strongest point
was never intelligence. Was it, Trent?"
Trent's eyes were even wider than before as his body trembled with
shock, confusion and heartbreak. "Mel...tell me why...why are you doing all
this?"
She smirked, "Because it's a part of my job. They don't call me the
Queen of Deception for nothing."
Faye noticed a tear fall from the eye of her younger brother. She
looked at him sympathetically, but had nothing to say, even if she wasn't
gagged. She saw that he seemed to be slowly falling apart. He was slowly
being torn apart. The woman whom had shattered his heart through betrayal
stood behind him with a gun to his head, wearing one of the cruelest smirks
Faye had ever seen.
Melissa continued, "You see, my dear Trent, the entire plan
was to kill you. So, I was hired to act as your lover. I faked my death so
that you wouldn't ruin things by coming to look for me. That's the truth.
That is reality."
Trent sneered, "Then what about Jake? What the hell do
you want with him?"
Melissa replied cruelly, "We don't want anything with
him. You can already consider him dead. My partner's taking care of him as
we speak. Now, it's your turn to die."
Right then, Melissa heard a shotgun cock back behind her
head.
"Drop it, bitch!"
Trent smiled again at the sound of Andrea's voice.
Faye raised an eyebrow and let out a muffled "Huh?"
Melissa frowned, "You don't know who you're messing
with. I suggest you put that down before something.....unpleasant happens
to you."
Andrea narrowed her eyes, "Loose the gun or loose
your head. Make a choice."
Melissa reluctantly dropped the gun, but smiled,
"What now? Are you going to shoot me? I don't think you'll do it. I bet you've
never even shot a piece of meat before, let alone another person. Could you
handle pieces of my brain and skull being splatter all over this cockpit
and all over your face? Hmm?"
Andrea trembled slightly at the thought, but kept
her guard up, "Oh, shut up. If I wanted to kill you, then there would be
no hesitation. I'm only letting you live because I pity you. Someone like
you who deceives people for a living doesn't deserve to have anything."
Melissa smirked, "Your words wound me."
Trent quickly untied Faye and removed her
gag. Faye stood up and took Melissa's gun. She looked at Melissa with narrowed
as as she pointed the gun directly between her eyes. "20 million woolongs
each. The 2 bounty heads were worth 20 million each. YOU wasted my time and
they're probably long gone by now. This fact upsets me. If you would like
to apologize, do it now. And it BETTER star with 'I have 20 million woolongs
for you', otherwise, I don't think I'll be responsible for my actions.
--------------------------
Jake was now airborne and ascending toward
space. The vid screen in the cockpit came on to reveal V2 who had an incredibly
evil looking smile, "Hiya, Jake. Miss me?"
Jake's eye widened, "How..how did you find me?!"
V2 smirked, "Come on, Jake. You didn't think I DIDN'T
know about you're friend's little hide out? People talk if you use the right
language. Now, are you prepared to die. I can promise you won't make it off
Mars alive."
Jake gritted his teeth, "Why don't you people just
leave me alone? I just wanna live a normal, legit life!"
V2 chuckled, "Is that right? Maybe they'll accommodate
your wishes in heaven, but that's not how things work here. So long, Jake."
Jake felt the entire ship shake as V2's ship rammed into
the side of the Dagger. Jake tried to maneuver, but the ship was incredibly
slow since it wasn't built for combat. It was a miniature transport ship.
V2 opened fire, shooting up the tail of the ship. It ignited as Jake hopelessly
tried to getaway. V2 laughed evilly as he shot a homing missile which
blew off one of the wings, sending the Dagger to the ground in a constant
spin. V2 smirked and said, "Fire in the hole."
He shot out 4 more missiles that smashed into the Dagger,
causing a mass explosion over the abandoned airport, leaving only flaming
debris and nothing more. V2 contacted Vicious from his cell phone, "Vicious,
Jake Smith is no longer any threat. No, no remains of his body. I sent him
down with his ship. Yeah, she's working on that right now."
-----------------------------
Melissa smirked, "Hear that? That was the sound of poor
Jake's death. Now...I suggest you let me go. Unless you want to end up like
him."
Faye smiled, "You talk big for someone who's in
the perfect position the get her brains blown out from two sides. Hey Trent,
go check on that explosion." Trent was already on his way.
Andrea and Faye led Melissa out in the open, following
Trent who had ran toward the debris. From a distance they saw a ship land
in that area also. When Trent go there, he saw a man step out who wore all
black. Coming closer, he saw that the figure was his identical twin and he
was looking looking right at him with a smirk.
The rage inside of Trent slowly filled his soul
as he stepped closer. The smirked faded from V2's face when he saw Melissa
being escorted by Faye and Andrea at gunpoint. He sneered and said to himself,
"Damn, this isn't how it was supposed to go. Time for plan B."
V2 took a remote control from his pocket at
the same time Trent drew his gun. Trent sneered, "Drop it, you I drop you."
V2 smirked, "Put the gun down, unless you
want me to hit this button. You do have another option. Let her go and I'll
give you the remote. How about it?"
Faye said, "We don't even know what
the thing does."
Andrea nodded, "Yeah, but it'll be safer
if we have it instead of them."
Trent nodded, "Fine. We trade at the same
time."
V2 smirked, "Fine by me."
Trent roughly grabbed Melissa by the arm and
pulled her along. She smirked and decided to taunt him, "Oh, I like it rough.
I guess you never got a chance to find that out, huh? A shame. You call it
making love, but I call it screwing moron in multiple ways. Your twin is
the only man to have all of me, you know. He's much better than you in everything.
Especially during 'quality times'.
Trent was fuming and heartbroken, but
the trade was made V2 gave him the remote with no trouble. He let them go,
due to his emotionally sick condition. They took off in his craft and left.
Today was the worst day of his life. He had lost love and his best friend...all
because of him.
---------------------------------
Two days later, back on the Bebop everyone
was back in the den. Jet looked annoyed as ever, Spike looked carelessly
bored, as did Faye. Trent was in the corner of the room, sulking in his own
depression. He sighed deeply as he let the shadows hide his eyes. Tears fell
down, but he was completely silent.
It was easy to tell he wasn't feeling
well. The fridge was almost empty and no new groceries were being placed
inside. Faye sighed as she went into the kitchen, despite the low food supply.
She looked around and decided to take out a cigarette. Unhappy with her food
search results, she took a walk around the bebop. Within on of the corridors,
she heard a spooky voice.
"Smoke, smoke, Faye-Faye......"
Faye looked around to see no one was there.
She put her hand on her gun, "Who's there! Come out right now!!"
"Puff, puff, Faye-Faye...."
Faye took her hand off her gun, "Wait...I
know that voice...." She turned around to see a small Welsh Corgi looking
up at her with a happy bark. Faye raised an eyebrow, "Ein? Then that means..."
Ed dropped on the floor from on of the air
vents with a thud, right next to Faye. Ed stood up on her hands and did a
slight flip to land on her feet again. "Faye-Faye! Have no fear, Edward is
here!"
Faye sighed, "People are just dropping in
left and right...."
Ein started barking again as Ed marched around Faye
in circles, chanting "Puff, puff, Faye-Faye". Faye dropped her arms to her
sides with a groan and shook her head.
