-N64 Stats-
CPU- The
CPU is the Centeral Processing Unit, The CPU is a 64-bit MIPS Risc chip
with a clock speed of 93.75mhz.. Now before you make any comment such as
how slow 93.75mhz is, it isn't directly comparable to computer Mhz, A P100
would actually be A LOT slower than the N64 CPU.
RCP- The
RDP is the co-processor which handles the Graphics and Sound, meaning
that the CPU is left free to calculate more inportant tasks, other consoles
such as the Playstation didn't have anything like this, leaving the far
slower CPU even more clogged up! Yes indeed the N64 was the power beast
of it's time!
RDP- Reality
co-Proccesor is part of the RCP, this handles all the effects, such as:
Effects-
These are some of the effects the
RDP handles.
Anti-Alaising-
Smoothes the edges of polgons,
basically this means that games look a higher resolution
than they actually are!
Z-Buffering-
Stops the drawing of polygons behind
objects freeing up more POWER!
Alpha
Effects Channel- Transperancies,
such as water.
Enviromental
Mapping- Lets an object reflect
objects around it, like Metal Mario
Tri-Linear
filtered mipmap interpolation- Not
exactly sure yet, I have an idea but don't put stuff on this page unless
I am sure! ;)
Floating
Points- How many Polygons the machine
can push around! -100 million flops
Resolution-
256 x 224 - 640x480 (the same resolution
as TV proggrammes)
Colour-
32-bit RGBA, 21-bit Video out.
(16.8-Million colours)
Memory- 36-mbit.
Transfere speed 4,500 bit/sec
Sound- e16-bit
stereo PCM. 64 channels at 44hz
