1- Res Testing. It is a good idea to test your page to make sure that it dosn't distort on higher resolutions. I browse the internet at quite a high resolution (1280x1024) and find that a lot of really cool sites havn't been optimised for a resolution that high and parts of their site are all over the place. Try using a friends computer or something if you don't have a good video card. Also this can be the other way around as when I started making layouts that were decent, I went to a  friends place who has an older computer and found out that it looked crap in 800x600. This site is now designed to look it's best on a 800x600 or higher resolution.

2- SSI. See my SSI section.

3- Having links to other sites makes your site better because people may come back to try some of your other links.

4- Look at other peoples sites to see if they have any services that you can make use of. Also compare other sites to yours to see if your own site is up to standard.

5- Another good reason to have topsites on your site is so other webmasters know how you are doing because the amount of hits you get can influance if they affiliate or something.

6- Get a decent tracker so that you know what kind of advertising is working for you so you know what to concentrate on. Also some can tell you what browsers people use and their resolution so you can mould your site to meet the masses

7- Don't be a nasty webmaster. Some webmasters critisise other peoples sites instead of saying how they could improve it. Some webmasters insulted my site when I first started but now my site is more popular and just plain nicer than theirs and some of them want me to link to them -LOL
