  | "Driven Dreamer" or "Natsumi's Car and Its Magical Shifting Steering Wheel" Amy's enjoying a pleasant walk when she sees...Darien handing his keys to a woman! Get your ninja suits out, kids! Darien's eye is wandering again...and Amy cusses him out for it but good! Despite that, we next see Amy and mystery woman working on an old car together.(Holy crap! A steering wheel on the right side?! This episode has warped my fragile little dubbie mind...)And Serena et al are hiding behind a pile of tires to investigate as well as to ensure that Amy's hands don't get stained with grease. Darien pulls up in his slick, American car and asks Serena why she's spying on Amy. It's amazing that he isn't used to this now...unfortunately, this distraction causes the tires to collapse and the jig is up. Raye asks Darien why he's being such a man ho. Serena and Rini demand an explanation, while Lita says they should let Darien explain. Mina, meanwhile, has already concluded that Darien is a player and Raye concurs. Fortunately, Amy was mistaken. Darien just has a hot female mechanic. The key he handed her wasn't his apartment key, it was his car key! Ha ha! Yes, it seems that Darien, much like Artemis, has been misunderstood. And we learn that Natsumi the girl mechanic dreams of restoring the classic car she and Amy have been working on.(dreams, sudden introduction to Sailor scouts...well, I think we all know where this is going...) Hang on...in some shots, the car looks Japanese, but in some shots it looks American...this really is a magical dream car! And Zircon has been watching the entire thing. Back at the circus tent, the Amazon Trio is doing...well, what else. Hawk's-Eye thinks Natsumi is beautiful.(Hawk's-Eye is also drinking a cosmo, one of the girliest drinks known to man or beast) Tiger's-Eye remarks that it's an older gal(you know, over the age of consent) while Fish-Eye thinks that mechanics are unrefined and that Hawk's-Eye is obviously a loser. Hawk's-Eye naturally thinks that she's the best candidate for all their needs...and not because she dreams of being younger and with a new job. It's because she's recently single! And she has to be full of nice dreams since her reality sucks! Flashback! Hubby brings home the old car and tells Natsumi that they're going to be the best mechanics ever! Oh, yeah, hubby has a beard. Put that on the back burner. Back in the present, Darien tells us that Mr. Natsumi(sorry, I have no hope of spelling his name right...)became ill and passed away, which is why Natsumi is so obsessed with fixing it. Amy says she's jazzed about fixing that car and helping Natsumi's dream come true. Later, Rini asks Pegasus why Amy is working on an old car when she wants to be a doctor. Pegasus replies that people can have many dreams...like how Amy dreams of fulfilling someone else's dream. Rini asks if she'll ever have a nice dream like that and Pegasus tells her that, someday, she will. (Hold on...doesn't that mean that Rini's dream isn't as nice as Amy's? And Pegasus is slumming it?) The next day Amy and Natsumi are working on the car when a stranger pulls up and says there's something wrong with his engine. Yes, it's Hawk's-Eye as we've never seen him before--with his hair down and with a beard! (Hawk's-Eye, if you're going to go for the fake beard scam, could you at least have it match your hair?) Natsumi is naturally reminded of her husband--which is Hawk's-Eye's little trap--and faints. It seems that Natsumi's overworked herself and is now in the hospital. Natsumi herself reminds herself that, no, her husband isn't back. Uh-oh, the Sailor Scouts aren't the only ones visiting Natsumi. Hawk's-Eye's there--still with his Al from Home Improvement beard--and he brought flowers! Amy goes back to visit the old car...which was Japanese the last time she and Natsumi worked on it, but now it's American again.(my episode summaries are chock full of helpful things like "Where's the steering wheel?" and "What is the Amazon Trio drinking in this episode?") Back at the hospital, Natsumi's talking to her mysterious secret admirer. You see, he feels her pain because he lost his wife five years ago. He's also misunderstood, but Natusmi can understand him. He also suggests that Natsumi sell the garage and come on a Mediteranean cruise with him! This idea is starting to appeal to Natsumi when an interruption appears. Rini enters and tells Natsumi that she'll always regret it. (Rini also brought flowers.) Hawk's-Eye asks Rini why she isn't in school and Rini screams at him, then tells Natsumi that the girls are all working on the car. Despite being told that she should rest, Natsumi gets Hawk's-Eye to drive her and the interruption back to the garage...where we see all the girls struggling to fix the car. Rini tells Natsumi that repairing the car is now everyone's dream. Hawk's-Eye says the car's just a stupid hunk of junk and that Natsumi doesn't need to repair it anymore. She can drive his car!(I'd rather push the hunk of junk to worth that set foot in Hawk's-Eye's pale blue boat of car. The steering wheel is consistantly on the left side though...)Natsumi tells him that, yes, she does have to fix the crappy old car because it's time for her dream to come true. Hawk's-Eye says she's coming with him, drags her in the car, and speeds off. The girls are shocked, but fortunately Darien pulls up! Apparently Hawk's-Eye went to the Eudial School of Driving. And it's time for some chariot race style moves! Darien tries to pass Hawk's-Eye(Hey, Darien, in Japan we drive on the left side of the road...)and gets slammed into a fruit stand. Natsumi points out to Hawk's-Eye that he could hurt someone and Hawk's-Eye tells her that he's not giving up his dream so she can just deal with it. Natsumi is ashamed that she ever mistook a "scrawny, evil coward who preys on women" for her husband. Hawk's-Eye stops the car, basically admits to being a scrawny coward as well as an evil womanizer and tears off the beard. Natsumi tries to make a run for it, brought down like that!(finger snap!) So, curtain, 1, 2, 3, and it's time to see Miss Grease Monkey's dreams. The girls run up and...transform right in front of the enemy...(three seasons ago Serena wouldn't transform in front of Darien, but in front of someone who they know is evil, yeah, that's okay...) glittery transformation sequence and speech about not invading dreams. Mercury tries for a Shine Aqua Illusion...that is absolutely powerless against fire. (I am going to call up those people in high school who told me to lay off Mercury and her bubble attack and laugh at them.) So, it's time for the amazing lemure Marengo to arise and take care of the twerps. Marengo is going to play with the girls, but she insists that they play with the swing. She throws Moon, Mini-Moon, and Mercury a stick...that turns into a high off the ground swing(and obligatory panty shot opportunity.) Marengo then cuts Sailor Moon's swing. Moon grabs on to Mercury but snip-snip! And Sailor Mini-Moon finds herself with Mercury and Moon dangling from her ankle. Natsumi's dreams are beautiful, but there's no Pegasus and it's time to let those noisy girls go. Fortunately Tuxedo Mask knocks the scissors out of Marengo's hands, then swings in catch Sailor Moon. He asks her if she's gained weight and it told to look down...where Mercury and Mini-Moon are hanging on. Once the four are on the grond, Marengo comes back with the scissors, but can't reach. Pegasus, protector of dreams, is called and Moon Gorgeous Meditation puts an end to play time. Hawk's-Eye flees, possibly to have a few more cosmopolitans. Later, it's time to give the car its first test drive. Despite Amy's praying, it makes it just out of the garage before exploding. Natsumi won't give up though, she's just going to keep trying! Everyone laughs Thundercats style. |
