  | This is the one where my tape just goes staticy in places for no reason.(donations for me to buy the DVDs are greatly appreciated) This is also the episode with the messed up audio. When this episode begins we see mini-samurai Miharu battling a scruffy old man. And Lita, Raye, and Serena comment on it...a few seconds after their mouths move. In this delayed manner we learn that Miharu will take on all challengers. Things link back up as Rini runs up and asks Miharu to train her. Miharu says she can't train anyone until she's a samurai champion. Despite this, Rini invites Miharu to live with them anyway. Even samurais in training can't live under bridges! Serena apparently agrees(I just had static)and Miharu is helping the Tsukinos out with dinner. Sammy says she's lucky to get to be away from home while she trains. Serena's mom--who's really Sailor Neptune in disguise--asks if Miharu's parents worry about her. Miharu's dad died five years ago and her mom...well, from the shadowy shot, her mom has the skin-tone of a monster of the day and doesn't sound particularly pleasant. Miharu asks to cut an onion. Rini tells us that Miharu is cool because she's really good with a knife(kids have great role models these days...) In the bar, Tiger's-Eye has found himself a conceited looking but extremely hot chick. Hawk's-Eye points out that she's extremely young and she's too focused to give a damn about men old enough to be her father hitting on her. But even young children are no challenge for Tiger's-Eye the Special Guy! I think most of the humor in this scene would probably come from Tiger's-Eye telling Hawk's-Eye that you need to know how to talk to women.("Hey, you're hot. I want your dreams!") And Fish-Eye can't wait to see how this one goes.(Fish-Eye probably just can't wait to get to meet the hot paramedics who'll have to take Tiger's-Eye to the hospital) Miharu, oblivous to all this, is fiercely fighting a broom when a blue haired woman appears and challenges her. Serena and Rini think it's so cool to watch a child fight an adult...they do go in to break up the fight. Miharu tells her its okay that this woman is smacking her around because, well, it's her mother. Who laughs at her and walks off. We find out that Miharu's mom discourages her even though she lets her keep on dreaming. Seeing Miharu burst into tears, Serena decides that it's time to get involved! She and Rini go scream at Miharu's mom's door. All this is in vain because Mommy Dearest walks up behind them with some groceries and politely asks them why they're there. Serena and Rini say that Miharu is strong and shouldn't be discouraged. Mommy Dearest tells them not to get involved. And that part of the problem is that Miharu is working too hard. Serena and Rini scream at the door for a few more minutes. Rini adds that Miharu's mom is even meaner than Serena. Miharu is beating the crap out of...something and wondering why she can't beat her mother when Tiger's-Eye appears. No offense to anyone's culture, but he looks like a real idiot. Despite his training in the school of something, he didn't come here for that whole violence thing--he wants to have tea. Miharu says there's no time for tea(she doesn't seem to notice that the tea cup came out of ass all nowhere)and Tiger's-Eye offers to challenge her because her serious face is just so beautiful and tosses the hat from hell away. One! Unfortunately for Tiger's-Eye, it's dream mirrorus interruptus since Miharu is one of the more observant targets. She turns around as the board starts to come up and asks what that was. Tiger's-Eye pulls out a sword and says he'll have to be careful. Let's get ready to rumble! Tiger's-Eye spins his sword and throws it at her. Then does a Mortal Kombat style teleport and comes at her. She dodges the point of his sword so he...extends it. Miharu wonders what happened and Tiger's-Eye pretends to walk away, then blushes and giggles like a school girl as she calls him back.(Tiger's-Eye needs about as much therapy as Hawk's-Eye. Possibly more.) Miharu is amazed that she was beaten by, well, someone twice her size and asks how he did it(normally I'd say that most adult men can easily trounce little girls, but it is Tiger's-Eye...) Tiger's-Eye tells her that, well, he's really just a student of Takeso Miyamoto, the famous samurai who had a deul with Kojiro. As Miharu(and most Team Rocket fans)can tell you, that's actually Musashi Miyamoto. Tiger's-Eye must have read his "Samurai for Dummies" wrong and has to come up with a quick cover. Takeso is Musashi's much more talented brother. Miharu asks to train with Tiger's-Eye, who doesn't take students but will accept her as a student. And, of course, samurai training must be done in a private place. Rini and Serena are still talking about Miharu's family. Serena says that maybe they made a mistake about the old child abuser and that Mommy Dearest must have a reason for smacking the crap out of her daughter. She finally concludes that it isn't possible for mothers to hate their daughters. Tiger's-Eye and Miharu are headed for a more secluded area and practicing their walking uphill skills when they're spotted by Lita and Raye...who tell us that they're headed for the graveyard. Raye has a bad feeling about this, which isn't too surprising. They reach their destination and Tiger's-Eye said that the first step of training is for Miharu to close her eyes and not move. Meanwhile, Miharu's samurai sense is tingling. One, two--Miharu opens her eyes and realizes that Tiger's-Eye is a weirdo. Tiger's-Eye tells her that since she's so focused on her own dream, it's really her own damn fault for getting caught. And, finally, three. Glittery transformation sequence and it's time for a quick dream search. No Pegasus, so it's elimination time! Jupiter makes up another attack name and it's time for a speech about saving girls' dreams and other Barbie stuff like that(We girls, can do anything, right, Barbie!) It's time to play cat's cradle with a creepy spider assed lemure. Tiger's-Eye gives her a Sailor Venus style wink and leaves. Sailor Moon goes to take care of Miharu and Mars and Jupiter'll take care of the spider. Miharu, meanwhile, isn't willing to lie on the ground or leave with Jupiter and wait and charges after the lemure. Jupiter sends a random thunder attack at the gooey string and grabs Miharu. The lemure gets up to the fifth ladder of cat's cradle and is dared by Mars to do number six. The lemure is greatly depressed upon discovering that she can't do it and is attacked by some celestial fire. The scouts get tied up and Miharu announces once again that she's going to fight to the end. The scouts beg her to run away. Instead, Miharu drops her sword. It hits the lemure in the head. Miharu lets the scouts go, Crystal Twinkle Bell, Moon Gorgeous Meditation, no more cat's cradle, cat's cradle. Miharu thanks the scouts and says she's found something she's been looking for. Time for another mother/daughter show down!(no, not Serena and Rini)Mom finds the hole Miharu dug in the ground the hard way, everyone learns a valuable lesson, and Miharu and her mom go home. Rini asks if Miharu will be a champion swordswoman(Rini, for the last time, the "w" doesn't need to be pronounced...)and Serena says yes, because she has a loving mother. |
