Zoicite: The original gay villain dubbed as a woman from the first season of Sailor Moon. Blond, ponytail, the femmey one of four generals. Fish-Eye: Gay villain from the fourth season of Sailor Moon who, surprise surprise!, was dubbed as a chick. Blue hair, ponytail, the femmey-est one of three man-animals. So who makes the better chick from a "Will someone please think of the children? Dub out the evil!" attitude? Zoicite. I know what you're thinking: if Fish-Eye spends half his life in drag isn't he a better candidate for being a dubbed female? Not at all. And I draw the conclusion that Zoicite make the better chick based on the fact that Zoicite is far more believable in his gender-bend than Fish is.(even if Fish is a gender-bender all by himself..) Zoicite is fully clothed. Except for the fake Sailor Moon get-up, Zoicite is always shown fully clothed(as far as I can remember) Fish-Eye, meanwhile, wears an extremely low-cut outfit, is shown showering, and, in one episode, rips off the majority of his clothing. Zoicite and Malachite's relationship(and the preferences it implies)is never commented upon by anyone. Zoicite and Malachite are always groping each other and no one says anything. The Dark Kingdom/Negaverse doesn't care(they're probably just happy if Zoicite doesn't end up under the table during staff meetings), the scouts aren't bothered by the PDA tendancies of their enemies. As for Fish-Eye...Tiger-Eye and Hawk-Eye comment on Fish's sexuality from day one(In their first appearance, Tiger-Eye even says that Fish's tastes are different from his) And they seem to wonder why Fish-Eye doesn't like women. So if Fish is female, Tiger-Eye and Hawk-Eye really think she should be a lesbian.(maybe they just wanna watch the hot girl on girl action...) Zoicite is in a mostly monogamous relationship with Malachite, the rest of the Dark Kingdom/Negaverse is "career oriented." Fish-Eye is a slut. The rest of the Amazon Trio are also sluts. This presents a crucial problem: Hawk-Eye and Tiger-Eye will sleep with anything attractive and female. So, if Fish-Eye were female, the Amazon Trio would get even less work done. And "They respect her" or "They're being professional" don't explain diddly. For the respect thing, that implies that Fish-Eye isn't interested in them(yeah, s/he shoots down Tiger-Eye at every opportunity, but s/he probably figures that the arrogant bastard's playing with her/his head. Besides, everyone shoots down Tiger-Eye) Male or female, Fish-Eye likes men. You can't tell me he hasn't at least thought about fucking his coworkers. As for being professional...right. Zirconia's basically paying the Amazon Trio to drink, look at pictures of the most attractive people in Tokyo, then try to get laid. Oh, and if they get turned down, they should go ahead and look for Pegasus, then kill their dates. If any of these three had office jobs, their desks would be permanently cleared off, and they'd spend most of their time dealing with sexual harassment charges. The entire Fairies episode Fish-Eye goes after his first target: a man who draws fairies and who tells Rini he never really thought about getting married...but if he could marry a fairy, he'd consider it. Meanwhile, Tiger-Eye and Hawk-Eye blush as Fish-Eye puts on make-up, then make the classic observation, "Your red lips are making us feel weird." Oh yeah, that whole woman thing makes perfect sense now! Women never put on...oh, right... The fashion episode, but mostly just the strippin' part Also know as "The One in Which We See Fish-Eye's Bare Bosom." Or lack thereof... CWI, if you wanted a female Fish-Eye, you really should've skipped this one, you dumb bastards. Naked breasts may sell everything from chapstick to sneakers in Europe, but here in America, you can't show 'em on TV. So, I was twitching slightly as Fish-Eye threw back her head and laughed maniacally because CWI wanted me to think that I was seeing some topless chick on TV but it was so obviously a man and yet... Try it some time. The assorted dubbing mistakes CWI made that DiC didn't make No, this is not about who did a better job or whatever. I don't care. This is about the fact that I don't remember Zoicite(although it has been awhile) ever being referred to as "dude" or "Mr. Happy." Speaking of "dude", while I'll use it interchangeably, yeah, it was a bit weird to watch Tiger-Eye hit on female Fish, then walk off with a "whatever, dude" after being told that...well, he wasn't Fish-Eye's type. And there's no way to explain "Mr. Happy." Well, unless Hawk-Eye was talking to his crotch and that's what he nicknamed...well, you know...But I don't know why CWI would've put something like that in. Besides, Hawk-Eye and Tiger-Eye seem like the type who would come up with not only nicknames for their genitalia, but also elaborate titles and honors. |
