25/12/2001 News: On Anime on DVD there's a more detailed description of the remastered first evangelion DVD, the cover was the same only because the new one wasn't done yet but there is still now official release date for this dvd.
13/12/2001 News: On Anime on DVD there's a description of the remastered first evangelion DVD compared to the original that was released, go there to check it out.
08/12/2001 News: Some old news on Anime News Network there's a report saying on rec.arts.anime.misc that Hideaki Anno Returns to Anime, he will supervise a short opening animation. The new work will be based on "AnimeTenchou" (Anime Shop Manager), about a crazy anime fan shop manager.
30/11/2001 News: Some small news I forgot about, Manga has released a DVD flyer which contains the new dates of the movies release (as stated in my previous news post) the dates are April for Death and Rebirth and July for The Evangelion movie (a.k.a End of Evangelion). From Right Stuf
28/11/2001 Movie status: On schedule. The dates posted on web site are "buffers" (meaning they are worst case). They are working to get the discs out as soon as possible and Evangelion will probably be their biggest release yet (in terms of stuff on the discs). Currently waiting on better sound for the Japanese sound track, so it can be in 5.1 as well. Right now its in stereo.
Hoping to get an interview with Anno Hideaki, but doubt that it will happen in time for the release.
They will have an interview and possibly a director's commentary with Tsurumaki Kazuya. That will be done at a sound studio somewhere in Japan. This be added into the special features along with an interview and commentary by Yamaga.
Special Features: Image gallery, their own version of the red cross book, interview with voice actors, behind the scenes stuff, easter eggs. Each disc will have its own set of special features and will be broken up to coordinate with each disk. The one that basically is a compilation of the whole series will have the most goodies on it. The reason that they can't use the Red Cross Book is that so many people contributed to it that it would take too long to get permission from everyone.
There will be no changes to Death/Rebirth and the End of Evangelion. They are putting it all on 2 disks because they want to put so much stuff on each disc.
They are considering creating a box for the discs. They haven't figured out how to do the box sets yet, whether they want to sell one disc and the box, sell both discs and box, or sell all separately. Those details are still being worked out along with the box design.
Amanda Win Lee will be doing a commentary to go along and there will be an interview with Tiffany Grant.
Because Evangelion has such a large fan following, Manga has been collecting input as to what to put on the discs in terms of special features. Some of those requests will get incorporated into the discs. One of the fan things they would like to put on the discs is a fan video featuring scenes from Eva put to Queens Bohemian Rhapsody. If you know who did this video, please contact keith@manga.com.
27/11/2001 News: From EML, Bochan_bird wrote this: Vol.7 of the manga tankoubon will be released on Dec. 1. The Vol.7 collectors edition with special Christmas figure will be released on Dec. 14. Amada Printing Co. will release a new set of Eva trading cards based on the "Raising Ayanami" computer game, the card images show various shots of Rei from possible game scenarios, including as a mother with small child, in a Nun's habit, etc. For more info on this game go to the Gainax site here (Japanese), you can download a trailer from there or here. There is a demo of this game also available for download as stated below in a previous news post
21/11/2001 News: On my rare visits to figures.com I found this, Diamond will be offering the much anticipated EVA 01: Matsumura Version action figure for pre-order in their December issue of Previews. Sculpted by well known Japanese artist Mr. Shinobu Matsumura, this figure has removable armor! You can remove the shoulder plates as well as change the head, revealing the organic creature hidden beneath the armor! The EVA’s left shoulder is equipped with a knife that is removable, and can be held in the right hand. Read more about it here
19/11/2001 News: From what little I understand of the Japanese Gainax site, they seem to be selling limited reproduction Evangelion cells that comes with a frame, certificate and other stuff. The only drawback to me would be the price, the cheapest 28000 yen (about $227.83 US) to the most expensive 120000 yen (about $976.40 US). Go here to find out more.
16/11/2001 News: AKA KON 2001 will be hosting an official screening of the new Neon Genises Evengelion movies! The time and day will be announced at the convention. 02/11/2001 News: This is from Animenations ask John section on 'para para' music: Here's a little Real Media example of a CG 'kogal' para para dancing to a remix of Evangelion's Cruel Angel's Thesis." The video itself is not that spectacular but the music is quite interesting
29/10/2001 News: More old news I missed: Keith from Manga has given us the reason why the movies were delayed. From the Manga site:

What's the hold up with the Evangelions movies?
The movies are a very complex project to undertake and we are moving along as quickly and safely as possible. Amanda herself has been hospitalized twice during this project and yet has still been locked in the studio for weeks at a time. This is a very sensitive project to fans and us as well so as things progress we will constantly post updates on the status of this project. This is a very big project so forgive us for being a little cautious with production. We promise to keep you all informed as things develop and dates change.
27/10/2001 News: Sorry for the lack of news updates, the following are older news I missed putting up: on Animenation it said that evangelion dead in Japan because the lack of orders for the 2002 evangelion calendar thus it was cancelled. and A new groundworks book has been released in Japan called, Groundwork of Evangelion Movie 1 based on the movies death and rebirth and bits from end of eva. 07/10/2001 News: On the Manga site it is said that the Evangelion movies will be released on a later date April seems to be the date for d&r release and July is the date for eoe, these date are for both dvd and vhs releases for each movie
25/09/2001 News: ADV's first DVD volume of the Evangelion TV series is currently being re-mastered to remove the digital editing of the first version disc and restore all of the original Japanese footage. This disc will be released as part of AD Vision's Evangelion DVD boxed set release. Fans that already have the Eva DVDs will be able to purchase the first "restored" DVD with the series box separately. ADV also confirmed plans for a "normal" and "premium" version Evangelion DVD boxed set, with the "premium" version being more expensive. From Anime on DVD
24/09/2001; News: More news about the upcoming movie release, the release dates are still the same Jan(vhs) Mar(dvd). Dvd extras include dub outtakes, character bios, some (not all) of the info from the red cross booklet. Packaging going to be a double-disc case, to accomidate the large booklet to be included with the movie. Audio English 5.1 for sure, Manga is trying to get Japanese 5.1. And Manga is trying to arrange an interview with director Hideaki Anno, it will be done 3rd week in Oct. An interesting note about the dub, Tristan MacAvery said that those who have seen a certain scene involving Shinji at the beginning of End of Evangelion will probably get a kick out of the dub version. For more information go to Anime on DVD website
04/09/2001 News: Art Asylum's founder, Digger, announced that he would once again be brandishing his sculpting tools, this time on a project sure to please Neon Genesis Evangelion fans: the Angel Sachiel, Action Figure for Kaiyodo. Info from UMJAMS
22/08/2001 News: It look's like the issue about overlays in the Evangelion movies might not be true. Go here to see what Keith from Manga Entertainment had to say about it, and the release date for the movies on DVD is now March.
According to Madman Entertainment the final Neon Genesis Evangelion - Collection 8 DVD's cover will be different in Australia than the ones in the US. Instead of Misato on the cover they will be using the picture of Shinji on the chair on top of the world. Go to Madman Entertainment for more info.
21/08/2001 News: Unfortunately Manga Entertainment confirmed at the Wizard World convention in Chicago that the special edition American release of the 2 disc set Shin Seiki Evangelion movies will contain digital overlays, same thing that was done to the Evangelion series on DVD by AD Vision. Furthermore, the DVD version of the movies will be copy protected with Macrovision encoding. Macrovision encoding reportedly does have a detrimental effect on DVD image quality.
The full version of the RCB will not be released because Mange could't license the whole thing because it was written by many different people besides Gainax.
But on a happier note the Dubbing for the movies have been completed and they are working on the Subs. Information from Anime Nation and Anime on DVD
16/08/2001 News: Studio Ironcat has also licensed American publication rights to the three Japanese Groundwork of Evangelion illustration books and is currently working on translating them.
and AD Vision has confirmed that the first DVD volume of Evangelion will be re-mastered and re-released sometime in the future, presumably to correct the poor image quality and remove the digital overlay editing present in the current existing DVD release. A new cover to Evangelion DVD 2 will also be produced so that all of the DVD covers match. From Anime Nation
