Yui was a brilliant bio-engineering student under Fuyutsuki before 2nd Impact. She loved Gendou greatly until the Eva test accident where she was 'absorbed' into Unit-01. She looks very similar to Rei, for obvious reasons: Rei's soul is a duplicate of Yui's.
