All the Senshi, Princess Serenity, and Prince Darien were reborn in Tokyo without any memory of their existence on the Moon. As Queen Serenity had warned, Queen Beryl and Metallia somehow freed themselves from the seal and were wreaking havoc on the city of Tokyo, where everyone had been reborn. Queen Beryl commanded all her warriors to search for the Imperium Silver Crystal, which would give her unmeasureable strength. Luna, separated from Artemis, began to seek after the Sailor Senshi and the Moon Princess.
Luna first found Serena who became Sailor Moon, the leader of the Senshi. Luna told her that the mission of the Sailor Senshi was to find the Imperium Silver Crystal. After it is found, the Moon Princess would be revealed and the Sailor Senshi would need to protect her, so that she can defeat the Negaverse. Pretty quickly, Luna also found Sailor Mercury, Mars, Jupiter, and Venus, who had been accompanied by Artemis. Together the Sailor Senshi fought the Negaverse generals.
All the while, Darien as Tuxedo Mask fought along side Sailor Moon and assisted the Senshi in their battles. At first, Darien didn't know he was Tuxedo Mask, but figured it out after awhile. As a child, he lost his parents and his memory in a car accident, and had no idea who he really was. The only clue was a dream he kept having of a princess calling out to him to find the Silver Imperium Crystal. So, as Tuxedo Mask, he went in search of it, hoping it would give some clue of who he really was. Sailor Moon soon fell in love with Tuxedo Mask since he always showed up to rescue her from peril. He was actually Darien, a guy who always teased Serena
and whom she hated.
Finally, it was discovered the seven Rainbow Crystals were needed to find the Imperium Silver Crystal. By the time, all seven were discovered, Tuxedo Mask had half of them and Zoisite, one of Beryl's generals, had half. The Sailor Senshi began to suspect Tuxedo Mask was an enemy because he would not co-operate in handing over the crystals to them. But oddly enough, Tuxedo Mask gave Sailor Moon the Star Locket, a beautiful little music box.
Zoisite proposed a dual with Tuxedo Mask, winner taking all the seven crystals. During this dual, Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask revealed their true identities by transforming in front of each other. Darien was fatally wounded by Zoisite and Serena cried over him. The seven Rainbow Crystals merged with one of Serena's tears and formed the Silver Imperium Crystal. Then, Serena was transformed into the Moon Princess. The wounded Darien was then stolen by Queen Beryl, who healed his body but infected him with evil Negaforce.
He began fighting against Sailor Moon as Prince Darien and it was extremely painful and emotional for Sailor Moon to fight him. She continued to believe that they would be able to bring his true self back. Using the Crescant Wand, Princess Serena defeated Queen Beryl and the Negaverse, and healed Prince Darien by reminding him of their love with the Star Locket.
After another war with another villain, Darien and Serena were finally reunited and very much in love. One day, Rini fell from the sky and demanded that Serena hand over the Silver Crystal. She had come back in time to save her mother in the 30th century. Many similarities could be seen between Serena and Rini.
Darien began to have nightmares about Serena dying because he was close to her. He interpreted the dreams to mean that he should not be near Serena or she would die. So he refused to see her for a long time and Serena was very upset. But, finally after much crying on both their parts, Darien could not hold back his love for Serena any longer and they made up.
Finally, Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, and the rest of the Senshi, traveled to the future to save Rini's mother. In Crystal Tokyo, they met King Endymion, Darien's future self. He told them that Serena would become Neo-Queen Serenity after she saved the Earth from an Ice-Age and that Rini was Serena and Darien's daughter. He also had given Darien the nightmares to test the two's love for each other. Crystal Tokyo had come under attack by the Negamoon. Neo-Queen Serenity was in a deep sleep and King Endymion was too injured to defend his kingdom. With the help of the Sailor Senshi, the Negamoon was defeated and Neo-Queen Serenity was saved. Rini then returned to her home in Crystal Tokyo with a bit of sadness. "Good-bye, Mommy!" Rini cried to Serena as she transported to the future.
After Rini's departure, Serena and Darien continued their loving relationship and fought along side each other. No matter how life threatening or what sacrifices needed to be made, they never stopped in believing in their love.
Rini once again traveled back in time to present day Tokyo. This time Neo-Queen Serenity wanted her to train to become a Sailor Senshi. She was called "Sailor Chibi Moon". Rini and Serena bickered like sisters, much like when Rini first came, but whenever Rini was in danger, Serena was always willing to sacrifice herself for Rini.
Another villain came, seeking revenge on the people of the White Moon Kingdom. Queen Neherenia, queen of the Black Moon, captured Darien and possessed him. If Sailor Moon did not reach him in time, his mind would be filled with dark energy and he would never be returned to normal. Rini began to fade because her future existence hung in the balance. It was up to Serena to save them both. She was forced to walk through an arctic blizzard in her school uniform without shoes and overcome an illusion of perfect bliss. She also had to walk through a bridge of thorns to come to a place where she was repeatedly blasted. Hardest of all, she loved Queen Neherenia enough to see that the evil Queen was a lost and lonely soul and felt sorry for her. Her love for Darien, Rini, and even those who bring her harm broke Darien's spell and healed the evil Queen. Once the evil Queen was defeated, Rini went back home to Crystal Tokyo.
Just as Serena entered high school, Darien was accepted to a prestigious university in the United States and was leaving Tokyo for three years to study there. Both of them were a bit sad but excited that Darien had such a good opportunity. At the airport, Darien gave her a promise ring, promising that he would be faithful to her and wouldn't forget her. Serena also promised that she would wait for him.
At the same time, the Three Lights, a popular singing group arrived in Tokyo. They were Serena's age, attended her school, and became the Sailor Starlights. One of them, Seiya, came to have a crush on Serena. Seiya's affection for Serena tested Serena's love for Darien. Seiya was more popular (he was famous!), more powerful, and reminded her a lot of Darien. He even called her "Meatball Head".Since Darien was away, it was often Seiya who rescued her or sacrificed himself on her behalf. Serena's friends would tease her that they were going out but she always denied it. And though Serena wrote to Darien every day he had been away, she never received a single letter from him. It often looked dim for the two of them but she never gave up hope.
Later, it was discovered that Darien never made it to the United States. He was attacked by Galaxia, the legendary Golden Senshi and newest enemy, on the airplane and was defeated. In the last battle, Galaxia killed all the Senshi, except for the Sailor Starlights and Sailor Moon. Though her friends and her beloved were dead, she found hope and love and never gave up. She tapped into the good part of Sailor Galaxia and freed her from the evil that possessed her. All the Senshi and Tuxedo Mask were brought back to life.
The Sailor Starlights, along with their princess, Princess Fireball, were now returning to the people of their planet. Seiya was very sad about leaving Serena and said, "I'll never forget you." She said, "Yes, we're friends forever." Serena never understood Seiya's true feelings for her. Seiya asked Darien to protect her from now on and then, Princess Fireball and the Sailor Starlights left.
Serena and Darien shared another kiss. They were together once again and nothing else could come between their love.
Manga: The love between Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Moon was much more evident. He kissed her after their fourth battle, in between the discovery of Sailor Mars and Sailor Jupiter. This was also the "act" (episode almost) that Darien discovered Serena was Sailor Moon. Serena had use "disguise power" to change her into a princess for a ball. After having punch spill on the dress, she used a hankerchief with her name embroidered on it and dropped it. Tuxedo Mask found this hankerchief and knew that Serena was Sailor Moon. In Act 7, Serena found out Darien was Tuxedo Mask because he told her. When he was saving her, he dropped a broken, moon-face watch into her lap. She kept this reminder and Darien kept the hankerchief.
After Sailor V was discovered, the Senshi did not look for the Moon Princess. Sailor V had the moon mark on her forehead and she pretended to be the Moon Princess to fool the Negaverse. Sailor V and Artemis had been using the Sailor V game in the arcade to train the Senshi, especially Sailor Moon. If one of them did well, the game would give them a weapon or transformation pen as a prize. Also, using the game, they could access a secret control room that was located under the arcade game.
Darien also was not fatally wounded in the dual with Zoisite. Jadite, Nephrite, and Zoisite were already killed by the Sailor Senshi. Kunzite attacked the Senshi and Sailor Moon wanted to protect Sailor V the Moon Princess. She protected them by casting them away with her Crescent Wand. Then, Kunzite attacked Sailor Moon with large spear. Sailor V called out, "Oh, no! Protect Sailor Moon!"
Tuxedo Mask said to himself, "This time...I'll protect her...for once." He jumped in front of Sailor Moon and the spear stabbed right through him. Sailor Moon cried over him and the trauma brought back her memory of Prince Endymion dying in her arms. When he opened his eyes slightly and saw Sailor Moon crying, he too remembered the past when he was dying and remembered that his name was Endymion.
"I was reborn as Darien to find you, Serenity," he said and then died. "Nooooo!!" Sailor Moon cried. The tiara that hid her forehead shattered and a glowing moon mark was on her forehead. The moon on Sailor V's forehead suddenly faded and a normal tiara appeared in its place. Sailor V was actually Sailor Venus, the leader of the other three Sailor Senshi. Luna and Artemis themselves did not remember that they had done this or that Serena was actually the Moon Princess until now.
Darien's broken watch began to run backwards, wisking Serena to her past to remember what happened on the Moon Kingdom. When Serena returned with all her memories, she cried over Darien and her tear became the Silver Crystal. The Silver Crystal was so powerful that when it appeared, the Earth trembled and the great light shined. People with illnesses were suddenly cured, withered flowers sprung with life again, and the three dead Generals awoke, remembering how they used to serve Prince Endymion. The three generals turned into stone. The Silver Imperium Crystal follows the heart of the Princess, so a piece of it went into Prince Endymion's body. Kunzite then stole Darien away for Queen Beryl to be used by Queen Metallia. Prince Endymion actually died and Metallia filled his dead body with evil energy.
Serena and the Scouts make a trip to the moon, like in the anime, where Queen Serenity tells them about their pasts on the Moon Kingdom. They also find there the Sword of the Moon, which is for the Sailor Senshi to use to protect the Princess. When they return to Earth, the evil Endymion is walking around Tokyo but he poses as Andrew's best friend, Endo, and the Senshi are not sure if he is Darien or not.
The battle finally escalates to where evil Prince Endymion has stolen the Imperium Silver Crystal from Sailor Moon and Queen Beryl is near killing her. Sailor Venus discovers that the Sword of the Moon is made of Imperium Crystal itself. She calls on its powers and uses it to kill Queen Beryl. After killing her, Sailor Venus falls into a short transce where the Sword talks through her and explains that the Crystal needs to be completed to seal the Dark Kingdom. Then, Sailor Venus fainted.
Sailor Moon attempted to heal Darien with the Crescent Moon Wand but since his body was dead to begin with, there was nothing to heal. She realized then what she must do. In a quick sweep, Sailor Moon grabbed the Sword of the Moon, kissed Prince Endymion, and then killed him with the Sword. She then stabbed herself...
"Endymion...you are my first love...my only love. Even if we're reborn in another life, we'll find each other...and then...fall in love again. Endymion...we'll transcend time...to live again. Perhaps this time...we'll find happiness...Endymion..."
She died. Suddenly, Serena's Crystal and the piece of crystal inside Darien combined. It grew and encased the two dead lovers. Metallia saw her chance and swallowed all of it whole. With the Crystal's power within her, Metallia began to envelope the Earth in darkness.
Luna realized that the Silver Imperium Crystal was protecting them and healing them. The Sailor Senshi knew that the Princess would need more power. They decided to transform into the powers of their guardian planets to reach full potential but to do this, they would have to give up their lives. To save the Princess, they cried their planets names, releasing their powers. Just as they finished, Metallia struck them down, killing all four.
Princess Serena awoke from death inside the Crystal's case. Her tear drop turned the Silver Imperium Crystal into its flower-like shape. Prince Endymion awoke too, though blind. Sailor Moon began to fight Metallia with the Crystal but it wasn't working. She was too weak. The powers of the Senshi came to her then and they spoke words of comfort. Their powers were added but the Crystal still was too weak. Then, the spirits of Prince Endymion's generals appeared, adding their powers. Kunzite also told them that Metallia's weak spot was the diamond on her forehead. Lastly, Prince Endymion added his presence which always gave Sailor Moon more power and strength. She was all fired up now and ready to seal Metallia.
The Sailor Senshi's transformation pens and the Sword of the Moon crystalized and formed the Crystal Tower in the Prayer Room, the center of the Moon Castle. Queen Serenity's spirit told Luna and Artemis to pray and the Moon would protect them. Meanwhile, Sailor Moon fought Metallia but her power wasn't strong enough. She began to pray for more power and Luna then sent her spirit to fight with her. Sailor Moon released a burst of burning sacred light so bright that even the blinded Prince could see it, and killed Metallia. However, she had used all of her lifeforce, much like she had in the anime, and her transformation brooch was shattered. Darien's kiss revived her and he regained his sight. Finally, they found each other and they shared a love-filled moment.
Then, Serena remembered the other Senshi and found them dead. She no longer had a brooch and no powers. Using the Crescent Wand, Serena, Darien, and Luna returned to the Moon Kingdom. Luna told her that she was now the new ruler of the Moon Kingdom and the Silver Millenium could finally be reborn. But Serena told Luna, "My place is on Earth, where Darien is."
Luna was about to protest when Queen Serenity appeared. "This time find happiness, Serenity, with the one you love." She gave her a new brooch and with its power, Sailor Moon healed everyone on Earth, including the Senshi. They had a happy reunion and never lost their memory again like they did in the anime.
Also, there was no Alan and Ann storyline in the manga. They went straight into the Black Moon storyline. Rini dropped out of the sky, like she did in the anime. But unlike the anime, she recognized Darien and even called him by name. Also, when she found out that Serena was Serena, she demanded that Serena hand over the Silver Imperium Crystal. Darien never had nightmares about Serena being in danger and warnings to stay away from her. Their relationship continued as normal through the storyline. As for the Black Moon family, we see from the beginning that Wiseman and Prince Diamond is running the show. Catsy battles the Sailor Senshi and traps Rei in a barrier of fire. Instead of surviving and becoming good, Catsy is killed. Rubeus, who is called "Crimson Rubeus", disappears with Rei as a prisoner. After Rei was taken away, Rini saw the Senshi un-transform and ran off. She had the Time Key and the Silver Imperium Crystal dangling around her neck.
On a side note, the Senshi told Andrew the arcade guy their real identities and he often visited them in the control room. Darien's planet power is also revealed to psychometry. He can feel things by touching them, heal himself and others, and use this power to attack others. A guy named Asamuna, who attends Darien's school and really admires him, becomes suspicious of Darien and the Senshi. Lita later reveals to him their secret.
Birdie and Prisma were the next to attack and be killed. Ami and Lita were also abducted. Darien was very worried now. He consulted his four generals. Jadeite, Nephrite, Zoicite, and Kunzite's spirits were in the power of four rocks Darien kept in a small glass case. Darien was beginning to question his use to Sailor Moon. "She has those four guardians to protect her but they are gone now. I have to be the one to take care of her but I'm powerless...I'm no use to her." The four generals told Darien that he had his own power, like the Senshi did, that he would become a King as Serena would become a Queen, and that he must be strong so that "the Princess can always depend on you". Later, when Serena was in danger, the generals helped Darien find his power. Darien held out his hands and shouted, "Tuxedo la Smoking Bomber". Bombs of energy shot from his hands, protecting Serena. The anime never shows this power that Tuxedo Mask has.
The Dark Moon's plans to capture Sailor Venus are when Sailor Moon arrived in the nick of time to destroy Avery. Rini stole Serena's brooch and when Serena recovered it, she asked Rini why she stole it. Rini said that she tried using the Silver Crystal from the future and it wouldn't work, so she traveled to the past, thinking that "if I have two Silver Crystals...maybe that power could save them."
Rini finally tells the others that she is from the future and beg them to help her save the future. So Luna, Artemis, Sailor Venus, Sailor Moon, Tuxedo Mask, and Rini journey to Crystal Tokyo, meeting Sailor Pluto on the way at the Door of Time and Space (like in the anime). When they arrive in Crystal Tokyo, King Endymion begins to warn Tuxedo Mask about dangers and saves them from a surprise attack by Chiral and Achiral, two villians not in the anime. Finally, they make it to the Crystal Palace, where Diana greets Rini happily. In the anime, we do not meet Diana until "Sailor Moon S" (the 3rd season). We then meet King Endymion's spirit (not a hologram like in the anime) who tells the story of what happened to Crystal Tokyo, that Rini is Sailor Moon and Tuxedo's future daughter, and that Diana is Luna and Artemis' future daughter. Shortly after, the Black Moon attacked again and Prince Diamond kidnapped Sailor Moon.
