He’s the local chiropractor and a skilled in martial arts medicine, when he's himself. Whenever he sees Kasumi, his glasses steam up and he becomes a babbling fool (and dangerous to his patients), as everyone but Kasumi knows. (To Akane's heartbreak at the beginning of the series, since she had a crush on him since she was a child.) Genma gets a job doing chores at his clinic. Betty is the skeleton Tofu-sensei manipulates, and dances with in glee after being with Kasumi. He often helps Akane and Ranma when they have bumps, bruises or dislocated joints from their many fights. He is very knowledgeable about martial arts techniques although he is never seen practicing. He helps Ranma discover a cure for Happosai's "moxibustion", and Cologne's "full body cat's tongue" techniques. Personality: Another calm, and quiet character, though he is quite serious most of the time, but he does like play the odd small joke. As well as healing people as part of his job as a doctor, he also helps people out with other problems where his expertise can be applied.

Tofu's mother, who comes to town for one episode toting a butsuban shrine to her husband and a picture of a muscle-bound girl, with good hips for bearing grandchildren (her main qualification), that she's arranged for Tofu to marry.
