Yu-Gi-Oh! Cast of Characters
Here is the cast of Yu-Gi-Oh!:
YUGI MUTOU: Yugi is a quiet, shy student at Domino High School. His grandfather, Suguroku Mutou, owns a local toy shop, where Yugi learned how to play Duel Monsters. Over the years, Yugi was picked on and beaten up by bullies, thus lowering his self-esteem and confidence. To help him out, Suguroku gave Yugi a box containing pieces to the "Millennium Puzzle," one of the seven fabled Millennium Items. When he solves the puzzle, his life changes. The Puzzle gives him mystical powers and he becomes the spirit of the Egyptian king of games, Yami Yugi. (Or Yu-Gi-Oh) When Yami Yugi appears, Yugi becomes more confident and courageous. Yugi has a lot of friends now. Some of them include Tea, Tristan, Mai, and Bakura. His best friend is Joey Wheeler.
SETO KAIBA: Kaiba is a person who believes power can get you anything. Years ago, Seto and his younger brother Mokuba were left at an orphanage after their parents died. Seto promised Mokuba they would always be together and looked out for him. Eventually, they were adopted by the president of an upscale company called Kaiba Corporation and became heirs to the Kaiba name. Now, Seto is the CEO of Kaiba Corp and even runs an amusement game park, called "Kaiba Land." He loves Duel Monsters, and even became the world champion. He has an affinity for one card in particular: the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. It is said to be one of the strongest and rarest card in the game. Only four exist in the world; three belonged to Kaiba, one to Yugi's grandfather. After taking the fourth Blue-Eyes and destroying it, Yugi and Kaiba dueled for the first time. To Kaiba's surprise, Yugi won by summoning the invincible Exodia, a feat which no one has ever done before. Enraged by this, Kaiba swore he would become even stronger than Yugi.
JOEY WHEELER (JOUNOUCHI KATSUYA): Joey is a tough talking, streetwise kid. He has a gangster type attitude since his parents divorced and he was seperated from his sister, Serenity. In the past, he was one of the bullies Yugi had to deal with. But after Yugi called himself Joey's friend, Joey saw Yugi in a completly different light. Joey considers Yugi his best friend and even learned how to play Duel Monsters from him. Although Joey is a real good duelist, he has yet to defeat Yugi or Kaiba.
MAXIMILLIAN PEGASUS (PEGASUS J. CRAWFORD): Pegasus is not only the mastermind behind Duel Monsters, but a sophisicated gentleman as well. Pegasus owns the company Industrial Illusions, which makes the Duel Monsters game. He has hosted many tournaments; the most recent was the Duelist Kingdom tournament. But Pegasus has a few secrets of his own. His left eye was replaced by the Millennium Eye, which gives Pegasus unbelieveable powers. He based Duel Monsters on an ancient Egyptian game called the Shadow Games. Pegasus plans to collect all the Millennium Items, including Yugi's Puzzle and Bakura's Ring.
TEA GARDNER (ANZU MAZAKI): Among all of Yugi's friends, Tea is the voice of reason. A childhood friend of Yugi's, Tea is also the biggest cheerleader in the group, always encouraging everyone to believe in themselves and to never give up. Tea loves her friends very much and would do anything for them.
TRISTAN TAYLOR (HONDA HIROTO): Tristan is a long time friend of Joey's. He met Yugi almost the same time Joey did. Even though they are constantly at each other's throat, they really care about each other. He also cheers Yugi and Joey on whenever they duel. Usually the first to panic, Tristan comes through in the end.
MAI VALENTINE (MAI KUJAKU): Mai is as pretty as she is dangerous....and that's pretty dangerous! She's one of the top duelist in the world and fights for the riches in the world that await only the best. She tends to use cards like Harpie Lady and Elegant Egotist. Posh and self-absorbed, Mai is not above using her charm and looks to advance her situation. Though she plays for superfical reasons, she may yet learn from Yugi's example.
MOKUBA KAIBA: As his last name states, he is the little brother of Seto Kaiba. Mokuba sees only Kaiba's good side and always believes in his ability to do anything. He loves his brother so much, he avenges anyone who crosses Kaiba. For a while, he had a hatred for Yugi. When he learned that Yugi was trying to teach Kaiba the Heart of the Cards, Mokuba began to trust Yugi. Ultimately, he was caught by Pegasus as part of plan to take over Kaiba Corp, then locked away in the Shadow Realm, along with Seto and Suguroku!
SUGUROKU MUTOU (AKA GRANDPA, SOLOMON MUTOU): A former world traveler, Yugi's grandfather now owns the local Game Shop. He knows a lot about games, but has extensive knowledge of the game Duel Monsters. He taught Yugi and Joey about the "Heart of the Cards," a philosophy that if you have complete trust in your cards and your abilities as a duelist, you cannot lose. Grandpa was locked away in the Shadow Realm by Pegasus to lure Yugi to Duelist Kingdom.
RYOU BAKURA: A transfer student to Domino High School. Bakura recieved his Millennium Ring from his father, who found it in a merchant stand in Egypt. But Bakura's gentle soul can't bond with the spirit in the Ring, because when Yami Bakura appears, he becomes completely evil. Yami Bakura's mission is to steal souls in order to get to the seven Millennium Items. He tried to steal the Millennium Puzzle, but lost to Yami Yugi. Now he wants the Millennium Eye, and will do anything to have it....even it means killing Maximillian Pegasus. When Bakura isn't evil, he cheers on Yugi in duels.
