Here is a list of the Anime I have seen.
Movies
Series
Here is a brief review of most of the anime I have seen. Remember, these are my personal opinions, so don't get offended if you disagree. ^_^ Now, if you value my comments, then it's another story. I must warn you that if you don't like spoilers, don't read this.
Movies
Akira
This movie is a worthwhile watch. It's very X-Files mental and includes destruction and pulsing, veiny monsters. *ewww* A nice saga like this MUST include two best friends fighting - and oh, how they do fight! Well, I won't tell you everything. I'll just say it's got war, evil scientists, misunderstood teens, motorcycles and so forth.
A Chinese Ghost Story
I loved this movie. It was a cute little tale of love between a ghost and a human. It proved that death cannot stop love.
This movie also has some nice side characters. For example, excercists competeing for ghosts to destroy. I also saw a guy who looked like Yosimite Sam's cousin!
NOTE: This anime was also award-winning, so I'd check it out if I were you.
Princess Mononoke
Le'ts see. It's a man against nature saga. Humans have moved in beside the forest and want to kill off the animals and cut down the trees. A girl raised by wolves and a boy who bears a demon's curse are trying to stop them. This movie has a definite message and that message is "Don't mess with mother nature!" However if your stomach can't handle oozing demons, then don't watch it.
Vampire Hunter D
This is a semi-good versus evil thing. Its protagonist is a wandering stranger - which is very cool for the story line. He seeks to rid the world of evil vampires. It follows the line of a vampire flick except for the main character (a half-vampire, half-human)NOT sleeping with the easy little heroine. (I SO don't like her!) It's got some violence - what with vampires and all, and some blood. All in all, it's good and it has a 'happy' ending.
X
It's the end of the world as we know it. *grin* (Couldn't help it.) This is an apocalyptic film about good struggling to prevent evil from destroying the world. Would you believe it? The fate of all life falls on the shoulder of one cute little guy named Kamui. Should he make the wrong decision, the Earth could be doomed.
This flick is full of destruction and blood. It's quite graphic. Unfortunately it has some very inappropriate nudity also. That occurs at the beginning only. *whew* Weak stomachs beware on this one!
Series
Berserk
Cool. Very bloody and violent. Definitely a guy's anime. I liked the haunted past/doomed future scenerio. I'd say look out for brief nudity and violence. Not suitable for younger viewers.
Here's the rundown: Gatts is a swordsman who was brought up to fight. He had no parents. The tormented swordsman struck out on his own and became a loner until he ran across a group of mercenaries called the Band of the Hawk. He took up with them after losing a duel and tried to find his place among them. However, it is hard for a man who is haunted by the demons of his past to find a place anywhere.
Cardcaptors
Cho kawaii! Well, it's a little girl chasing clow cards, what more can I say? It's very cute and colorful. Appropriate for all audiences. ^_^ Unless you just can't stand anything that cute.
Dragonball Z
Nice battling... however, it does take FOREVER . Just a warning to those of us who don't have attenion spans for it. The characters are amusing and, consequently my faves are Vegita and Trunks. Gohan gets quite cool when he actually uses all that mighty power he's got. --- lots of fighting, but still, a kid's show.
Fushigi Yugi
Romantic comedy/ fantasy adventure. The story of a girl from our time who is transported into a chinese epic and chosen as a priestess. In order to 'save the day' so to speak, she must track down seven warriors to help her.
Although I keep wishing for this girl to die, I found the other characters quite entertaining. The only annoying thing is that at least two of the main male characters fawn all over this girl.I just don't get the attraction, but oh, well!
Gensomaden Saiyuki
One of my favorite animes. A troup of four bishounen are traveling west to bring order to a chaotic world. The little band consists of a corrupt priest, a womanizing pervert, a nice guy and a bratty kid. What a combination! They spend the series fighting evil demons gone mad and kicking lots of but. There's also the occasional introspective episode where we get to learn more about the guys' lives. It's full of action and angst and, of course, cute guys. I highly recommend watching. ^_~
Gundam Wing
Siiiiiiiiiiiiigh. Cute pilots. Very... cute pilots. (I'm a bit biased.) Lots of politics. Nice mecha battles. Good plot. And even - if you want there to be - a little controversy. Oh, the arguements between yaoi and non-yaoi fans!
Unedited this series does have a bit of strong language. Edited it is fit for all audiences, once again. ^_^
Inu-Yasha
It isn't bad, but in Japanese the English subtitles are the WORST! It is nice to see the manga characters in anime form. It sticks to the original story-line most of the time. A good watch. However, it is bloody and violent.
Master of Mosquiton the Vampire
Very funny. Another anime guy who is as girl-crazy as they come! Mosquiton is quite cool. Beware of scantily-clad women (and of course Hono). I can say that I DO NOT like that redhead! You'll see what I mean if you watch it.
Nightwalker - Midnight Detective
Yaoi. I'll tell ya right now. It's Anne Rice in anime format - only sillier. A vampire detective fights demons in a modern city with the help of a brassy assistant and a little pixie (or whatever she is) that sits on his shoulder. That's about it - and that he's persued by his vampire maker who wants to bring him "over to the dark side". Their relationship is where the yaoi comes in.
Outlaw Star
An action-packed anime, very fast-paced, good music. However, it does have some nudity and sexual content. Not for kiddies unless it's aired on tv. (Which it was until CARTOON NETWORK took it off! *snarl*)
I love Gene Starwind, but he is quite the womanizer - but isn't any straight anime guy? He's very dynamic (nice word) and he reminds me of a tougher version of Vash the Stampede. Personally, I think their hair color pretty much says it all.
This anime is science fiction set in outer space with space pirates, outlaws, bounty hunters, all that good stuff. Oh, yeah and Melfina a cyborg with biological capabilities.
Petshop of Horrors
A sinister little short anime series with a touch of humor. This is the story of a shop that sells 'special' pets who teach their owners life lessons - that, consequently, take their lives most of the time. The owner of the shop is a flamboyant and feminine young chinese man - Count D. The second main character is the detective Leon who is forever in confusion over the 'accidents' that are caused by the pets the count sells. He is always looking for some proof that the petshop is responsible.
Ranma 1/2
Again, it's an anime based on a manga, but I feel it's captured pretty well. If any of you know the story of Ranma, he's a boy who turns into a girl when he gets cold water thrown on him. Consequently, his father turns into a Panda. It's quite funny. You can imagine the predicaments Ranma gets into with his unique ability - which he considers a real curse. Ranma 1/2 is worth a look-see. However, there is brief nudity and lots of underwear flashing about. (Most likely Happosai's collection.)
Ronin Warriors
Hmmm. A male version of Sailor Moon. The guys are quite bishonen. Ryo is cool... if you like that really girly, eighties, power ranger thing. It just seems to me that for mighty warriors, these kids sure get the snot pounded out of them often. - There are redeeming qualities to the series, though. There's a big scary head as an enemy, for one. I mean, who could argue with that? And there's (thankfully) a girl/boy relationship included.
Rurouni Kenshin
This is an anime about a legendary warrior (Kenshin) and how he comes to stay with a family to help with the dojo. Several more characters get added as the story progresses (I just haven't gotten very far with it). I do like Kenshin. He's kind of Vashish. He's got the whole "I won't fight unless I have to" thing going on. And when he does fight he has the ability to kill everyone he's up against... but he prefers not to.
There's some nice kendo demonstrating in this anime and some good battles. For some reason I just have never gotten that into it. (Oh, well.)
Sailor Moon
I'll tell you now, I'm not a Sailor Moon fan. Too much girly ani-babes with hearts and such all over their costumes. Gives me bad Rainbow Brite memories. *shudder* I will say, however, that it is interesting when Tuxedo Mask shows up to add a little maleness to the series. (Although, he's quite bishonen.) It goes hand-in-hand with Ronin Warriors.
Slayers
Another anime with a bossy woman. Lena isn't too bad, though. Although, for this series I'll have to say I like the male characters better than the female. *grin* There is a dumb blonde guy instead of a girl. That's always refreshing. There's a lot of magic swirling around and surges of awesome power. Not to mention some nice girl/boy relationships hinted at. ^_^
Sorcerer Hunters
If you like scantliy-clad anime babes with whips and leather then I guess you'll like this series. I don't. Carrot is sex-crazed and Gato is just in love with anything beautiful - including Carrot's very bishonen brother Maron. (Who, consequently, reminds me of a taller version of Chang Wufei with long hair.) He's the only thing I like about this series.
Tenchi Muyo
It's like a soap opera - only anime. It's quite strange. There are many women all localized in one house with one guy - who isn't even all that cute! I mean, he doesn't even know how to use his sword! (or did he learn?) Well, I do like one or two of the girls : Ryoko, Washu, maybe Mihoshi's partner. I do think that Ryo-oki is adorable, but who wouldn't? It's pretty decent for a series. It's just not all that easy to understand.
Trigun
Oh, yeah. Wild west anime style. It has gunfighting, narrow escapes, a cute guy, pistol-packin' women, alien powers, a cute guy, really cool bad guys, a mysterious black cat, a cute guy, giant awesome weapons, a womanizing priest, a cute guy - did I mention a cute guy? Vash the Stampede, actually. He doesn't believe in killing anyone, he's a dead shot, wherever he goes disaster follows and he... is... very... cute. Um, well, anyway, good series.
Vision of Escaflowne
From what I saw of the series, it's good. Giant mecha, easy-to-like characters, good plot. Reminds me of a fantastical Gundam Wing. Van even looks a little like Heero!
Well, that's all I have for now. I will post more when I see them. Please, don't flame me for my opinions. If you don't agree, that's your perogative.
Here's a list of my favorite anime of all time. Believe me, it's worth checking out. ^_^
