~ Never Had A Dream Come True ~
by PikaChan (Heza Ishida)
“Kamira-chan, can you believe it’s almost Valentine’s Day
already?” Heza squealed as she and the blue-haired girl walked down the hallway
to their 6th-period class.
“I know... it’s just so romantic this time of year...”
Kamira said, glancing at a couple making out in the hallway out of the corner
of her eye. She sighed. “I hope Koushirou-kun gets me something...” she said,
grinning.
Heza rolled her eyes. “You know he will...” she said,
giving her friend a sidelong look. “Hang on, I gotta stop at my locker...
forgot my Algebra book. Shimatte!”
The two girls reached Heza’s locker. She shifted her
notebook to one arm and fiddled with the combination. When she finally got it
open, she stood on her tiptoes and reached up to the top shelf (hey, she’s
short and skinny :P). “Where is that book...?” she muttered to herself. Her
fingers finally touched something long and slender. “Nani...?”
“What is it, Heza-chan?” Kamira asked as Heza pulled a
single long-stemmed rose from the shelf. “Oh my... it’s pretty...”
Heza smiled. There was a note attached to it. She read it
out loud. “Happy early Valentine’s Day... love, Yamato. Eeee!” Heza squealed.
Kamira smirked. “Lucky you, and we see him next period...”
she said as the warning bell rang. “Oh dear.. we’d better hurry to class, ne?”
Heza, her face a bit pink, snapped out of the light trance
she was in. “Oh... hai!”
*******************************************************************
Heza and Kamira managed to make it into Ayuhaza-sensei’s
room just as the tardy bell rang. Luckily, he wasn’t in there yet. Heza sighed
in relief, noticing that only about half the class was there. She finally
spotted Yamato in his usual seat, his Algebra book open. He seemed to be
studying.
Heza motioned for Kamira to sit down. She walked over to
Yamato and slid her arms around his neck, still holding the rose. “Konnichiwa!”
Yamato looked up from his book and grinned. “I take it you
found my little present...” he said.
Heza nodded and gave him a small peck on the cheek. “Hai!”
Just then, Ayuhaza-sensei walked in the door and everyone
scrambled to their seats. Heza took her seat in front of Kamira and looked over
her shoulder at her. Kamira flashed a thumbs-up.
“I apologize for being late, there were certain matters to
attend to...” Ayuhaza-sensei said in his monotonous voice. “But today, I
introduce Yan Kyoto.” Ayuhaza-sensei motioned to the boy standing next to him.
He was rather tall, and had long blackish-purple hair tied back into a ponytail
and black eyes. He looked arond the room with his jet-black eyes.
“He’s kawaii...” a student said quietly.
“Now, why don’t you take a seat...” Ayuhaza-sensei’s eyes
darted around the room, stopping on the only available seat left. “...next to
Yakanori-san over there,” he said, pointing to the empty seat next to Heza.
Kyoto nodded and walked over to the desk. He looked at Heza
for a moment, then sat down.
Heza was a bit nervous. *Hoboy... this guy gives me the
chills...* she thought, opening up her textbook. It was then that
Ayuhaza-sensei realized that Kyoto didn’t have a book, so guess who he had to
share with?
Heza swallowed the sudden lump in her throat as Kyoto moved
his desk closer to hers. “Now, I want you all to do the problems on page 516,
and have them to me at the end of the period.” The entire class groaned.
Heza began writing down the first problem when Kyoto spoke.
“Konnichiwa..” His voice was soft, but a little freaky (WTF, lack of better
word at the time x.x).
“Tadaima...” Heza whispered, trying to keep her mind on the
assignment. She was having a hard time, however, as Kyoto was staring at her,
his eyes narrow slits. “Ano... is something wrong?” she asked him.
Kyoto shook his head. “Iie... just taking notice to how
beautiful the girls in Odaiba are...” he said quietly.
Heza blushed slightly, and focused back on her work. Before
long, Kyoto had reached over and was lightly stroking her hair. Her face turned
even redder.
“You have nice hair...” he said.
“Arigatou... but I really need to finish this assignment...”
Heza said, feeling a bit uncomfortable. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw
Yamato glaring in Kyoto’s direction. She swallowed the sudden lump in her
throat.
Finally, after what seemed like forever, Ayuhaza-sensei
announced that the papers were being taken up. Several students groaned,
including Yagami Taichi, who had barely gotten any of the work done. Heza
sighed, relieved that the period was almost over. The whole time, Kyoto had
been staring at her with a slight grin on his face.
He then reached over and cupped her cheek in his hand.
“Your eyes... very nice color...” he said. Heza stood up. She gathered her
books together and sat back down, holding the rose. Her eyes remained focused
on the clock. Kyoto took notice of it. “Oh, is that a present?”
Heza sweatdropped. “Hai...” she muttered. “It’s a
Valentine’s present...”
“Hmm. I thought Valentine’s Day wasn’t for another couple
of days....” Kyoto said.
“It’s an early one... from my boyfriend...” Heza said,
feeling a bit uneasy.
“Really?” Kyoto sounded surprised. “Who?”
Just then, the bell rang to be let out of class. “Come on
Kamira-chan, we don’t want to be late for Theatre...” she said quickly,
standing up. Kamira gathered her books and stood up as well. They began walking
to the door. Kyoto tapped Heza on the shoulder.
“Are you doing anything after school?” he asked.
Heza gulped. “Hai, I have cheerleader practice...”
“Oh. Well...”
“Heza-chan, let’s go...” Kamira interrupted. She then
whispered into Heza’s ear, “Yamato doesn’t look too happy...”
Heza sighed. “I’ve really got to go...” she said to Kyoto.
“Ja ne.”
The two of them walked out into the hallway. Heza dropped
to her knees.
“Heza-chan? Are you okay?” Kamira asked, kneeling down beside
her.
“No, I’m not okay. That new kid gives me the creeps...”
“Yeah, he does seem a little freaky.. maybe it’s his eyes.
They’re so dark...”
Heza nodded in agreement. “I don’t want to let myself be
bothered by him...” she said, shaking her head.
Just then, Yamato walked up to them. “Hey, are you okay,
Heza-chan?” he asked, a bit concerned.
“Hai, she’s okay... just a bit uneasy, the way that new kid
was looking at her...” Kamira said, helping Heza up.
Yamato clenched his fist and looked at Heza. She was
looking down at the ground. He put his hand under her chin and lifted her head
up so she was looking at him. “Heza-chan, if he ever does anything or says
anything to make you feel unfomfortable, you come and tell me, okay?” he said.
Heza nodded. “I will...”
“Okay then, see you after school...” He leaned over and
gave her a quick kiss before turning around to go to his next class.
Heza looked down at the ground again and sighed. “I just
don’t know what to do... Yan-san is sort of nice, but....”
“Heza-chan, just forget about him. Let’s hurry and go to
class before we’re late,” Kamira said.
Heza looked up and grinned at her friend. “Hai!”
*******************************************************************
[ Later that day... ]
Heza and Yamato silently walked down the sidewalk. Heza had
been feeling a bit sick since sixth period, and Yamato was concerned.
“Heza-chan, are you okay? You’ve been really quiet since we came out of the
school...”
“I’m fine... I’ve just had a lot of things on my mind...
that Kyoto guy gives me the chills. Just the way he was looking at me... it
sent shivers up my back,” Heza said, sighing.
Yamato stopped, and took her hand. “Come on Heza-chan,
there’s no way he could be attracted to you that fast... I mean.. I admit, at
first glance I liked you, but... you can’t let him get to you...”
“I know... but his eyes... they’re just so dark and cold...
It’s hard to forget something like that when the same pair of eyes hurt you so
badly...” Heza said, remebering the pain of having her soul taken by Kitusomon
over 3 years ago, in her first visit to the Digital World.
“What, you mean Kitusomon? Come ON, now... you have to put
your past behind you, and stop thinking about those things...”
“But how can I, when there’s so many good things that
happened too? Like Lunamon...” Heza remembered Lunamon’s bright blue eyes,
shining personality, and her overall kindness. “I miss her so much... whenever
I think about the good things I always end up thinking about the bad...” A tear
fell from her eye and hit the sidewalk below. She quickly wiped her eyes. “Oh
well... there’s no point in worrying about it now...”
“Hey... come on, don’t cry...” There was nothing that
Yamato hated worse than seeing Heza cry.
“Gomen nasai... it’s just that I’ve felt so helpless
lately, like I’m losing my strangth... it’s really weird. And ever since that
new kid came here, I’ve been getting really strange vibes...” Heza sighed.
Yamato looked at her for a few moments, then cupped her
cheeks in his hands. He pulled her face to his and kissed her softly.
Heza’s mind was still reeling. She soon forgot everything
that had happened with she and Kyoto that day, and kissed him back. A few
moments later she pulled back and smiled. “Arigatou, Yama-chan... I fell a lot
better now.”
Yamato grinned. “That’s good. Just remember what I told
you.” He squeezed her hand lightly and they continued walking silently, hand in
hand.
*******************************************************************
[ The next morning... ]
“See you later, Heza-chan!” one of the cheerleaders shouted
to Heza as they left the gymnasium. Heza waved back, then sighed. She barely
got any sleep the night before, due to the fact that she couldn’t get her mind
off of Kyoto. Those eyes... they were just so dark. It scared her, because she
had a premonition that something bad was going to happen. There was just no way
around it.
She slimbed the two flights of stairs to her locker on the
second floor. It took her a few minutes to get the locker open, being that she
had a tremendous headache and she couldn’t think straight. *This is torture...
why can’t I just live a normal life like Kamira-chan?* She got her books for
second period and shut the door. She ws about to turn around when a pair of
hands covered her eyes.
“Guess who?” a monotonous voice said from behind.
Heza giggled. “You can’t fool me by changing your voice,
Yami...” she said. She took a hold of the hands, pulled them away from her
face, and turned around to look at him.
It wasn’t Yamato.
“... Yan-san...”
“Ohayo, bishoujo... miss me?” Kyoto asked, his jet-black
eyes staring deeply into her dark brown ones. Heza felt as if her was staring
into her soul.
“... Not especially...” Heza muttered. “Ano... I have to go
to class now...” She sidestepped to the right. Kyoto leaned his hand against
the locker beside her. She scowled and stepped in the opposite direction. Kyoto
only put his other hand against the locker on her other side.
Heza had no choice but to look at him. It was clear that he
wasn’t going to move until he got something...
“Ano... Yan-san... could I please go to class..?” she said,
starting to panic.
“Forget about class right now...” Kyoto said slowly. A
crowd was starting to gather around them. Kyoto took his hands from the locker
and held her arms so that she couldn’t move.
“Let me go!” Heza shouted. She looked at Kyoto, her vision
starting to blur. His eyes glowed an unusual shade of red.
She looked around at the group of people that had formed
around them. Some of them were muttering to their friends. “Yan-san... just let
me go so I can go to class... the warning bell’s about to ring...” she said, a
tear finally dropping down her face.
“You’re not going anywhere, subeta...” Kyoto shouted.
Heza gasped. Nobody had ever said the word ‘subeta’ to her
before (Uh, ‘subeta’ means ‘bitch’ ^^;;;;;;;;;;). She began to really panic.
Kyoto took his hand from her arm and placed it on her hip.
Heza’s anger flared. Realizing what he was trying to do,
she broke his grip on her other arm and slapped him square across the face.
“Kutabare! What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” she yelled angrily, tears
streaming down her face. She leaned against the locker and slumped over.
Kyoto held his hand to his cheek, which was bright red from
the force of the hit. He scowled angrily, picked himself up, pushed through the
crowd, and stormed down the hallway.
“Heza-chan?!” a voice from the crowd shouted. Heza looked
up to see Kamira pushing her way through the group. She kneeled down by Heza’s
side. “Are you okay?!”
Heza wiped her eyes. “I... I think so...” she said, still
crying.
“Oh dear... Kyoto no hentai...” Kamira said, placing a hand
on her friend’s shoulder.
The crowd started to dissipate. Yamato and Koushirou, who
had been at the back of the crowd, walked up to the two girls. “Nani? What
happened?” Koushirou asked.
“Yan-san tried to take advantage of Heza-chan... right here
in the hallway!” Kamira said angrily. “He just moved here yesterday... that’s
just WRONG!”
Yamato clenched his fist. “Excuse me..” he said to Kamira.
She moved over. Yamato knelt down in front of Heza and took her hands.
“Heza-chan... what did he do to you?”
“He... he was trying to...” She couldn’t finish her
sentance.
Yamato seemed to understand. He put his arms around her and
hugged her tightly. “It’s okay... you don’t have to talk about it if you don’t
want to...” he said.
Heza nodded and wiped her eyes again.
“Heza-chan... if you want to you can tell me about it in
7th period,” Kamira said, a bit concerned.
Koushirou put a hand on her shoulder. “Let’s leave them
alone...” he whispered in her ear.
“Hai...” The two of them turned around and walked down the
hallway.
An eerie silence pierced the hallway. “... Heza-chan?”
Heza sniffled a bit. “Hai...?”
“Do you need to go see the counselor or anything?” Yamato
asked her.
“Iie... just don’t leave me...”
“It’s okay... I’m right here...” He hugged her tightly.
Heza smiled. “Hai...” She then realized something. “Wait a
second...”
Yamato looked at her, confused. “Nani? What’s wrong?”
“WE’RE LATE!!”
*******************************************************************
Heza sighed as she walked to her normal lunch table
carrying her tray. Her headache had gotten much worse than it had been that
morning. She looked at the table and noticed that Yamato, Koushirou, Kamira,
and Jyou had already gotten there. “Konnichiwa, minna...” she said, sitting
down.
Kamira looked at her, concern in her green eyes. “Are you
doing okay, Heza-chan?” she asked.
Heza shook her head. “I’ve had this stupid headache all
day... and I can’t get my mind off of what Yan-san did...”
“Ohhhh Heza-chaaaaaaaaaaaaaan!!” a shrill voice echoed
through the cafeteria.
Heza groaned and rested her head on the table. Without even
turning around, she said, “Go away, Kuraire.”
Behind Heza stood a girl with long blonde hair tied back in
a ponytail. It was Shoneza Kuraire, who had competed against Heza for head
cheerleader about a month before. “I heard about your little predicament this
morning...” she said snidely, flipping her hair over her shoulder.
Heza turned around and glared at her. “Your point?”
“I just don’t get you, Yakanori-san. You have just about
every guy in the school drooling over you...” Kuraire said. “Of course I have
yet to see this Kyoto guy, so... I suppose he’s taken a liking to you, Heza-chan.”
Heza stood up. “Gee, ya think? He tries to rape me in the
middle of the hallway, and you say ‘he’s taken a liking to me’?! I guess the
blonde hair must be getting to you.” The cafeteria had become quiet and several
people had turned around to look at her. “Uhh... what are you all looking at?!”
she shouted. Everybody went back to what they were doing. Heza sat down and
buried her face in her hands, trying to hide the blush that had crept onto her
face.
Kuraire made a bit of a snorting sound.
Just then, *he* showed up. “Konnichiwa, bishoujo...”
Heza felt something on her shoulders. She looked up to see
Kyoto standing over her. She frowned. “Go away, Yan-san...”
Kuraire looked at Kyoto in surprise. “Y-you’re Yan
K-Kyoto...?” she stammered.
“Hai. And you are...?” Kyoto asked.
“I... I... I’m Shoneza Ku-Kuraire...” she said, her face
turning a bit red.
Kyoto nodded at her, then looked down at Heza. “So,
bishoujo... got any plans for after school?” he asked, grinning.
Without even looking at him, Yamato said, “Get away from
her.”
Kyoto looked at Yamato, confused. He then chuckled. “Or
what?”
Yamato stood up and looked Kyoto right in the eye. “I said,
get away from her!!” he shouted.
The sound of Heza’s voice broke the tension between the two
boys. “Yami? Yan-san? Stop fighting!!” she yelled.
The two guys looked at her for a moment, then Yamato sat
down. “I won’t fight if you don’t want me to, Heza-chan...” he said, crossing
his arms.
Kyoto’s grin grew wider. He began stroking Heza’s hair.
“So, Ishida-san... you wouldn’t happen to be the subeta’s boyfriend now, would
you?”
Yamato glared at him and clenched his fist. “What’s it to
you?!”
Kamira had seen enough. She calmly stood up, marched around
the table and up to Kyoto, and slapped him square across the face. “Look here,
hentai, Heza-chan doesn’t want you here. I don’t want to have to tell you this
again, Heza’s with Yamato-kun. Now I’ve tried to be nice and not yell, but
you’re only making it harder! I guess there’s no way TO be nice to you after
what you did to Heza-chan!!”
The whole cafeteria had turned around to look at them.
Several people had dropped their food or forks after hearing Kamira’s outburst,
mainly because Kamira wasn’t a yelling-type person.
Kamira realized what she had done and her face turned
bright red. “Oh... oh dear... did I just start yelling? Oh my oh my oh my....
I’m so embarrassed!”
Kyoto blinked at her for a moment. He removed his hands
from Heza’s shoulders and replaced them on Kamira’s. “I like your attitude...”
Koushirou nearly snorted his water. He stood up and slapped
his hands down on the table. “Hey!”
Kyoto looked at him, a bit confused. “Let me guess. You’re
Kamira-chan’s boyfriend.”
Koushirou blinked a bit, then rubbed the back of his neck,
his face bright red. “Uhm... well, I guess you could say that...” he said.
Kyoto turned back to Kamira. He only recieved a pair of
glaring emerald eyes. He let her shoulder go and stuffed his hands in his
pockets. “I suppose I’ll be going now... ja ne, bishoujo-subeta...” he said,
giving Heza’s hair a final touch. He turned around and walked away.
Heza let out the breath she hadn’t known she had been
holding.
Kamira returned to her seat, a bit miffed. “I can’t believe
he had the nerve to do that... on the other hand, I can’t believe I just
started yelling like that... I’ve never been so embarassed...”
Koushirou placed a hand on her shoulder. “Hey, I think you
told him just what he needed to know...” he said, smiling at her.
“Well... I think Yan-san is kind of kawaii in a dreamy kind
of way...” Kuraire said. The others had forgotten she was there. She put her
hands on her hips. “Well, it appears I’m not wanted here...” she turned around
and walked off, frowning.
“Whew! That’s something I never want to see again,” Jyou
said, running a hand through his hair.
Heza sighed. Just when she thought things couldn’t get any
worse, she remembered something. She decided to change the subject. “And for
the record, my parents are going on vacation AGAIN this weekend.” Heza’s
parents tended to gamble a lot, and went away every weekend. Usually one of her
friends would stay with her over the weekend.
“That’s right... who’s going to stay with her this
weekend?” Kamira asked.
“I will,” Yamato said. “I feel like after what happened
this morning, we can’t take any chances if Yan-san ever finds out where
Heza-chan lives... and I can be there to protect her.”
“Good idea, Yamato. Plus, you can get some special quiet
time with her, eh?” Koushirou asked, grinning evilly.
Yamato’s face turned bright red. “Uh...” He looked at Heza.
She flashed him a cute smile. “Well... I guesso...” Everyone laughed.
********************************************************************
“Eeeerg... damn that Yakanori girl... why does SHE always
get the bishounen?” Kuraire mumbled as she walked home from school. “First she
stole my precious Yama-chan from me... now she has Yan-san drooling over her...
it’s not fair! Why can’t I ever get a lucky break?!” She slammed her fist into
a nearby wall. “... Itai...”
*******************************************************************
[ About the same time that
day... ]
“Heza-chan, I’m still confused... just *how* are you
supposed to graph this again?” Yamato asked, sticking his pencil behind his ear
as the two studied for the upcoming Algebra test on Monday.
“Yami, Ayuhaza-sensei went over this a million times... the
direction of the line depends on whether the equation is positive or
negative...” Heza explained. She droned on and on over how to graph
inequalities. Yamato, however, had his mind on other things. Like how serene
she looked with the rays of sunlight beaming in from the window the way that
they did. “... and then you shade the area above the line. Uh... Yama-chan?”
Heza blinked.
Yamato realized that he had been staring at her with a
goofy expression on his face. “Uh... gomen nasai...” he muttered, blushing a
bit.
Heza grinned. “As much as I hate to, we really need to
study for this test... it’s 30 percent of our six-weeks grade...” she said,
sighing.
Yamato shut his textbook. “You know what?” he asked,
looking at her. He then leaned over and put his arms around her neck. “I think
we should take a break... all of this cramming is giving me a headache...”
Heza’s face turned a bit pink. “Well... I guess it wouldn’t
hurt...” she said.
Yamato smiled and gave her a peck on the cheek.
Heza stood up. “I tell ya what... I heard this song on the
radio the other day... REALLY pretty song. And I found the lyrics and sheet
music to it, and I’ve been preacticing. I want you to tell me how it sounds...”
she said.
“Sure...” Yamato said, nodding.
Heza grinned and went into her bedroom. A few minutes
later, she came out holding her lime-and-black guitar. “This song is just so
nice...” she said. Yamato watched her intently as she began playing.
“Everybody’s got
something, they had to leave behind,
One regret from yesterday, that just seems to grow with time,
There’s no use looking back, oh wondering, oh wondering,
How it could be now, oh might have been, oh might have been,
Oh this I know, but still
I can’t find ways to let you go...”
The song was slow and peaceful. Yamato became entranced
with the sound of the guitar and the soft sound of Heza’s voice. They just
sounded so right together.
“I never had a dream come
true
Till the day that I found you
Even though I pretend that I’ve moved on
You’ll always be my baby,
I never found the words to say
You’re the one I think about each day
And I know no matter where life takes me to
A part of me will always be with you...
Somewhere in my memory
I’ve lost all sense of time,
And tomorrow can never be cos yesterday is all that fills my mind,
There’s no use looking back, oh wondering oh wondering,
How it should be now, oh might have been oh might have been,
Oh this I know but still I can’t find ways to let you go...
I never had a dream come
true
Till the day that I found you
Even though I pretend that I’ve moved on
You’ll always be my baby,
I never found the words to say
You’re the one I think about each day
And I know no matter where life takes me to
A part of me will always be...”
Heza stopped singing for a moment to play a short guitar
riff. Yamato felt his throat choking up a bit, and fought to keep his tears
back.
“You’ll always be the
dream that fills my head
Yes you will, say you will, you know you will oh baby,
You’ll always be the one I know I’ll never forget,
There’s no use looking back oh wondering, oh wondering,
Because love is a strange and funny thing, and funny thing,
No matter how I try, I try I just can’t say goodbye, no no no no...
I never had a dream come true
Till the day that I found you
Even though I pretend that I’ve moved on
You’ll always be my baby,
I never found the words to say, never found the words to say,
You’re the one I think about each day, you’re the one I think about each day,
And I know no matter where life takes me to...
A part of me will always
be with you...
A part of me will always be with you, oooohhh...”
Heza set her guitar down and looked at Yamato. “Well...
what did you think?” she asked.
Yamato was at a loss for words. “I...” Then, he couldn’t
hold it in any longer -- a tear fell down his face.
Heza was a bit surprised at this. “What’s wrong, Yami?” He
wiped his eyes. Heza felt a bit crestfallen. “You hated it, didn’t you...”
Yamato looked at her, surprised. He quickly took her hands
into his. “Iie, Heza-chan...”
“Then why are you crying...?” she asked, reaching up and
brushing a tear away.
“Gomen nasai... it was the most beatuiful thing I’ve ever
heard... don’t ever think that I hate anything about you...”
Heza smiled. She started to lean forward.
*DING-DONG!*
“CRETIN!” Heza stood up and stormed to the door. *Whoever
it was just HAD to ring the doorbell now...* She slid the door open. “Hai?”
“Konnichiwa, Heza-chan!” It was Kamira and Koushirou. Heza
nearly smacked herself on the forehead. She had forgotten that the two of them
were coming over to study.
“Tadaima, Kamira-chan, Koushirou-kun... we were kind of
taking a break from studying...” Kamira peeked in to see Yamato, his face beet
red.
“Yeah, I’ll bet you were...” she said, giggling. Heza
rolled her eyes.
********************************************************************
[ Later that night... ]
“Okay, I have three of diamonds, six of spades, two of
clubs, and nine of hearts...” Koushirou said, peering over the top of the four
cards he held in his hands.
Kamira peered at her cards. “I have six of spades and two
of clubs as well...” she said, blushing a bit.
“Hah! Ya know what THAT means!” Heza said, chortling.
Koushirou and Kamira both turned bright red. “Okay, what do
I have to do for two pair...?” Kamira asked, sighing.
“Don’t give us that, you know what to do...” Yamato said,
smirking.
“Oh my oh my oh my...” Kamira held her face in her hands.
“C’mon Kamira-chan... you know the rules! One pair is a
hug, two pair is a kiss on the cheek, three pair is a kiss on the *lips*, and 4
pair is a maaaaaaaaaaaakeout...” Heza teased. “You KNOW you want to....”
Kamira looked at Koushirou, whose face was also red.
“Well... okay...”
Koushirou swallowed the sudden lump in his thorat as Kamira
leaned over and brushed his cheek with her lips. His face turned even redder.
“There now... that wasn’t so hard, was it?” Yamato asked,
sneering.
“Doncha just looooooove this game?” Heza asked, shuffling
the two decks of cards and dealing. She looked at her cards. “Five of hearts,
eight of clubs, one of diamonds, jack of spades...” she read out.
Yamato looked at his cards. “Three pair.”
“Heh. Again.”
“Quick, get the camera!” Kamira shouted. Koushirou made a
mad dash across the room for the camera that they had brought.
Heza already had her arms around Yamato’s neck. “Don’t even
think about it. Put the camera down.”
“C’mon Heza-chan, you never let us take pictures of you...”
Kamira fake-whined.
“Yeah. Smile and say ‘I’m a little teapot!’” Koushirou
said, focusing the camera.
“Get that thing away from me!”
“Aw, come on, Heza-chan... maybe they’ll leave us alone...”
Yamato said.
Heza’s face turned a bit pink. “Okay, fine. ONE picture...”
“Yeaaaaaaah...” Koushirou said, ready to click.
“And no copies.”
“... Shimatte.”
“Koushirou-kun, just take the picture so Heza-chan will
stop being so... HOSTILE about the whole thing...” Kamira joked.
Heza looked at Yamato and smiled. He pulled her closer, and
just before their lips were about to meet...
*FLASH!*
“Koushirou-kun, that was too early!”
“Woops.”
“Forget them, Heza-chan... they’re just jealous because
neither of them will have the guts to even get close to one another...” Yamato
said.
“Heh!”
“Ohhh, that’s what YOU think, Ishida...” He set the camera
down. He then put his arms around Kamira’s shoulders and gave her a peck on the
cheek.
Heza and Yamato were dumbfounded. “Well whaddaya know? He
DOES have guts!” Heza said, grinning “Go Kamira-chan!”
Kamira’s face was bright red. “Oh my...”
Heza yawned and rested her head on Yamato’s shoulder.
“Tired...”
“Hai... me too,” Koushirou said. “I think we should all
roll out our sleeping bags now... kind of like a campout in the floor...”
“Good idea, Koushirou-kun... it’s almost eleven...” Kamira
said, looking at her watch.
[ A while later... ]
Heza lay wide awake in her sleeping bag. She just couldn’t
seem to fall asleep. She turned her head to the side and looked out her window
at the starlit sky. *I’ve got the best friends in the world...* she thought,
turning around to look at Yamato, Kamira, and Koushirou, who had already fallen
asleep. She then sat up and grabbed her portable CD player and headphones. She
looked at the CD inside and smiled. She then put on her headphones and lay back
down.
‘I never had a dream come
true
Till the day that I found you
Even though I pretend that I’ve moved on
You’ll always be my baby,
I never found the words to say
You’re the one I think about each day
And I know no matter where life takes me to
A part of me will always be with you...’
She grinned to herself and looked at the date on her
digital clock.
It was February 14. *******************************************************************
A lone figure sat in the tree outside Heza’s bedroom
window. It was a human, wiht long hair tied back in a ponytail and jet-black
eyes. *Soon, Yakanori Heza... you will belong to me...*
Kyoto smirked to himself, and then, with a blood-red aura,
levitated himself out of the tree. His eyes glowed red for a second. With that
last thought, he transformed himself into a large silver dragon and took off
high into the sky.
