Rei Ayanami

Hello. I am Ayanami Rei, Designated pilot of Evangelion unit 00. I was selected as the First Child, the first of the pilots of the Evangelion. I have a duty, to protect the world from being destroyed by the beings we call the angels. That is why I live. I have nothing else.


Oh, Rei, of course you have something else!! Okay, in case you don't know me by now, this is lovely_asuka, ready once again to fill in the gaps.
Rei is so much more than just the first child and pilot of Eva unit 00. She is a mystery. Even I didn't know exactly what Wondergirl was up until recently. It is true that she is cloned from Yui Ikari, Shinji's mother, but that is only part of her genetic makeup. She is also the clone of Lilith, Adam's first wife in biblical history, and the second angel in the series(Adam was the first). She is part human in that she looks like a human, not an angel, and she does show emotions, such as gratitude and understanding. However, because she is part angel (and all clone), she doesn't show these emotions regularly. And she also possesses something that only angels can claim to: an A.T. field. She is a rather interesting person, and I can really understand why people like her a lot better than Asuka.
Oh, I left out the fact that there have been three different Reis. Rei I was killed by Dr. Akagi after repeating Gendou's cruel words of "old hag." Rei II died saving Shinji from an angel (I forget which one!!!). I believe that something happens in the movie to Rei III, from what I've heard, but because I have not seen it, I don't know what.
