Why do I love Kiyone Makibi?

Why do I "love" Kiyone Makibi so much? Well, it all stems from my tendency to "go against the grain."

Back in mid-2000, I owned a little site called "The Majin Dragon Ball Z Information Site". Obviously, Dragon Ball was my absolute favorite anime at the time, but at that same time, my exposure to anime increased exponentially and Tenchi Muyo! was quickly becoming a personal favorite. Back then, I was a hardcore Ryoko fan and one day, I decided to create a shrine to Ryoko on my little podunk Majin DBZ site.

However, before I even got started, I hit a little snag. One day, while looking through Anime Web Turnpike's Tenchi links, I began to notice something...damn near EVERY Tenchi Muyo! website was all about Ryoko! Well, even though Ryoko was still far & away my fave Tenchi character (not to mention one of my favorite anime females overall), I decided instead to create a "parody" of sorts and do a shrine for a Tenchi Muyo! character that nobody really seemed to care about.

So who would I make this little "joke" shrine for? Nagi? Nobuyuki? Hotsuma? While thinking, I stole a quick glance at the TV to see what was on. Right there, on the screen, was Tenchi Muyo! TV and Miss Kiyone Makibi. Bingo.

Well, like I said, this shrine was to be a parody...a shrine to a character nobody cared about to poke fun at the billions upon billions of shrines for Ryoko, Aeka, and Mihoshi. But while I was making this shrine, a strange thing happened. Well, actually two strange things happened...the second was finding out that Kiyone was surprisingly more popular than I at first thought ^_^. The second, of course, was that in making the shrine, I fell absolutely, head-over-heels "in love" with Kiyone Makibi! In no time, Kiyo had become my favorite anime female, well surpassing Ryoko (though I still think Ryoko is kewl as hell).

Well, it's been about a year (give or take a month) since the Majin site was opened and shut down, but the original Kiyone shrine has still lives on here at Densetsu. Yes, Kiyone is still my favorite anime female and no, this shrine is no-longer a parody...it's officially a legit shrine to immortalize the teal-haired goddess. Enjoy!
