Mink

My Name:
Minky, that's all ya need to know ^.~

My Sign:
I am a Virgo, which makes a lot of sense as far as personality goes. My Chinese Zodiac is the Rat, and I match up well with it too (i.e. having only a few true friends and being really stingy with money).

Age/Sex/Location:
16yrs/Female/USA

Personality:
I am an honest person who loves art and beauty. I am musical and hope one day to grow up as a sophisticated, graceful, and kind-hearted individual (well, one out of three isn't bad ^_^). I love to read, write, and play my clarinet. I enjoy hanging out with my good friends and my boyfriend wherever and whenever.
However, I'm not exactly perfect ^^;;; I'm hopelessly lazy with sporatic occasions of being a work-aholic. When I have pent-up anger I tend to blow up at people, or at least chew them out real good ^.^;;;

Blood Type:
I'm not quite sure, but when I know I'll post it here (I guess I'll know once I go to the hospital or donate blood)

The Anime That Got Me Hooked...
Sailormoon, North American Dub. Yes, it's true, I used to be a dubbie. I used to watch it every chance I got and until I recently recorded over or threw them away, I recorded every single SM dubbed episode. Hey, maybe I could have sold those, huh? Whoops ^^
Nowadays, I can deal with Dubs, but I prefer subtitled or raw anime. I think the voice acting sounds more professional, along with excellent artwork and plotline (which is usually more engaging than other American animations.)
Personally, I don't think North American companies should be cutting back the original work (dubbing is fine, but not editing). The material cut back being the film itself, the translated dialogue, and the original music. My reasononing here is people work for hours on end trying to get scenes just right. It's just wrong to cut out all of their hard work just because we have tighter standards. On the topic of music: since when has the American song that replaced the Japanese one ever been equivalent or better? I've yet to see that. Truthfully, I don't think dubbing companies can afford good singers or song writers at first when the anime is newly syndicated for the American audience because they need to see if it will catch on first... but they sometimes never make improvements. It seems to me that keeping the old music would cost less than making new... or does remastering take more money than rerecording? I wouldn't know, but you get my point.
As far as the purpose of editing goes, I understand there are things younger people should not see (and I agree, unless their parents are raising them to be able to handle such material) but, logically, the way to fix that is to control the target audience, not the content. If television companies can't perform this task without serious economic problems {uneven audience ratios I assume may hurt a business, unless their channel is specifically for one age group anyway} then they probably weren't that great of a company to start out with, as far as handling syndication is concerned. I also believe that it is quite inappropriate to change names and storylines. In example: it was wrong to make Michiru and Haruka, Michelle and Amara (spelling?), cousins in the North American dub of Sailormoon. Originally (in both the manga and the anime) Haruka and Michiru were in love, and yes, lesbians. Their relationship was very sweet, romantic, lasting, and undying... anime dubbers should have kept it the way Naoko ingeniously planned. In fact, I'm still a little steamed about how they portrayed Zoicite and Kunsite (sp?). These were two males who were in love. DiC changed Zoicite into a female so that it would be acceptable. However, I am not sure of their relationship in the manga (Toei could have changed the plot) just their genders ^~

My Favorite Anime Series:
My fave anime are as follows, in no particular order: Sailormoon, Fushigi Yuugi, Kodomo no Omocha, Vampire Princess Miyu, Gundam W, Rurouni Kenshin, Gunsmith Cats, Evangelion, Ranma 1/2, Aa! Megami-sama!, Slayers, X, Blue Seed, All-Purpose Cat-Girl Nuku Nuku. Those are all that I can think of at the moment, but I'll here when I see more that I enjoy.

My Favorite Dessert:
I like anything yummy which includes caramel, chocolate, vanilla. Right now I am in love with a little thing called Spanish flan (an egg custard dessert).

My Favorite Snack:
Pocky sticks ^_^ They are very thin bread sticks partially dipped in chocolate, strawberry, or other flavors. O' course I like other things, but if I list them all you will know the full extent of my oinkiness ^..^

If I Could Date An Anime Character, Who Would It Be?
Chichiri (from Fushigi Yuugi)*drool* Alright, alright, yes, first of all he is cute... but that's not the only reason! Although he is always smiling he has a deeper side that he hides from others most of the time, but if he trusts you he will share. He is both physically and spiritually strong and knows his limitations. He will go out of his way for his friends and isn't afraid to fight alone. He's also a lot of fun to be around (figuratively speaking, he seems to be anyway) and has impeccable wisdom ^.^.

The Anime Character I Hate...
I'd have to say Kodachi the Black Rose from Ranma 1/2... she's irrational and her laugh is quite annoying. She's also coniving, delusioned, and manipulative. These characteristics are probably part of her personality that makes other viewers like her; I guess thay think she's funny, but she just annoys me ^^.

Am I Single?
Good Lord! Of course not ^.~

Which Anime Character Am I Most Like?
Physically: I look most like Miaka when I have shoulder-length hair, most like Ami right now (because my hair is very short, not blue ^~) and most like Makato's when it grows out. As far as my height goes I suppose I'm a little shorter than Miaka is... I'm about 5ft even ^^;;; Emotionally: When I'm happy I am most like Miaka, when I'm angry (or when I'm cooking!) I am most like Tendo Akane, and when I'm sad I'm most like Hino Rei.

Hobbies:
My hobbies include sketching, crocheting, playing my clarinet, hanging out with friends, surfing the 'Net, editing this site, and watching anime (obviously).

How Many Hours/Days/Years Out Of My Life Have I Dedicated To Anime?
You don't want to know! I started getting interested in anime in the summer of 5th grade (I'm in 11th currently). I spent much of my summers, before I balanced it out, searching on the Internet for any and all anime sites, watching or reading about all anime I could. When my father got home, the computer was piping hot ^^;; I've also spent a lot of money, a few dollars here a couple there... it really does add up! Heeheehee But usually I'm pretty tight-fisted when it comes to money ^^

Favorite Anime Villian?
This would definitely be Galaxia, she also ranks as one of my favorite senshi. She's a valiant, self-sacrificing individual who allowed the darkest of the dark evils (Chaos) to posses her to save the Silver Millenium (well, she didn't save it completely, but I suppose she delayed it). She was also the most powerful villian of them all (which is just plain cool). She's quite intelligent, is able to make calculated strikes and has excellent organizational skills. And hell, she really knows how to dress!

What Anime Series Have I Seen In Their Entirety?
I have seen Fushigi Yuugi in its entirety. I've seen a good bit of Kodomo no Omacha, but no where near the whole thing, and for Ah! Megami-Sama! I saw the 5 episodes but I'm not sure if that was the whole anime series or just what. On Sailormoon, I've read about it enough and seen so many episodes that I may as well have seen all 200 episodes (filler episodes don't count to me since they don't follow the plot). I really have no way of seeing all 200 epsiodes, but I and my sister collectively have the entire manga series.

Anime I Least Enjoy:
I guess if I had to put one down it would be Ronin Warriors or Thundercats/Silverhawks. I don't know if Thundercats or Silverhawks were truely anime or if they just have overseas work done on them. I've only seen the dub of Ronin Warriors so it was degenerate by the time I saw it anyway.

Can I Speak Japanese?
Unfortunately I can only speak a few words and phrases. However, I am in first year Spanish (oh, but does that make up for the sin of not being able to speak Japanese??? ^~ hehe.)

Why Are My viewers Still Reading This?
Must be extreeeeemely bored, ne?

Well, I hope that cleared up a few things! Thank you for taking time out of your day to get to know my personality ^_^.
