Carson & Barnes 

The Carson & Barnes Circus has recently improved their animal living conditions and basic needs due to pressure from citizens and the USDA. However, much evidence exists that they have severely abused their animals, especially the elephants. Their winter quarters ranch is located in Hugo, Oklahoma.

Testimony on Carson & Barnes - Baby Jennie
"I wanted to pass along an article from my local newspaper, which contains a falsehood of outrageous proportions. This article, about the circus, mentions that "Baby Jennie" is trained with positive reinforcement. My wife personally witnessed last summer this same "baby Jennie" being beaten on the trunk with a metal device during a performance. This was because Baby Jennie defecated while walking into the ring-- she was then beaten for a full minute and the crowd was horrified. When on the road, Baby Jennie is separated from her mother Isa. She is forced to walk on a balance beam and there have been concerns about her growth and weight gain regarding her feet on the very narrow wooden beam.
