"If you're a Dreamer, Come in....." When I was a kid back in the 1970's, I was always reading my favorite book "Where the Sidewalk Ends" while my dad was playing one of his favorite lp's, "Freakin' at the Freakers Ball." He was always singing "Sarah Cynthia..." to me. When I asked him, "Dad, what does Stacy Brown have two of?" Dad replied, "ice creams, honey." And I believed him at that time! Then we would watch the Irish Rovers on PBS and sing along to "The Unicorn." 'I mean, those green alligators and long neck geese!' |
"If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar,
A hope-er, a pray-er, and magic bean buyer...
If you're a pretender, come sit by my fire
For we have some flax-golden tales to spin,
Come in, come in!"
Shel Silverstein wrote for people of all
ages.
I was appalled to
hear of some schools
in the United States depriving young children of
Shel Silverstein's children's work.
I was introduced to his adult work at a very young age,
perhaps
even before I was introduced to his kid stuff.
All the works of Shel Silverstein are Literary Masterpieces!
~~Let the Kids
